  1. Wow I haven't checked this for a bit.  So yes backhaul is an issue for Davis/Weber counties.  You also have to realize though that not all the sites have new hardware on them yet.  A good amount do but if you look at how they are doing acceptances, they want every tower in the area to be a least 3g accepted.  There are 2-3 towers near me that don't have NV hardware up.  I know of at least 2-3 other sites in ogden/layton that don't either.  So add that to not getting backhaul to most of the towers and yes it would be a waste to come accept towers and here is why...1. With the legacy equipment and the new NV equipment you will have the CSFB issues because the legacy equipment does not support CSFB.  So yes CSFB is an issue but if the hardware is up and sites accepted that is not the hold up but because some sites still only have legacy equipment yes thats part of the hold up.  2. Backhaul is obviously another thing holding things up.  They could (if all the hardware was done) come through and accept the 3g side of things but then would have to come back for a bunch of LTE.  It is more efficient to get as much 3g/4g accepted as possible and they are hitting the areas where that is in place.  Obviously there are still a lot more LTE sites that have to go live in all areas and are just waiting on backhaul and they will have to go back and accept those once completed but this is the most effective way to do it now. Not to mention when the sites get accepted samsung will get paid which is a strong motivator to get as much done as soon as possible.

So with all that said is CSFB the real issue?  Not really...but in a round about way kinda.  Getting hardware up is an issue.  They want all sites to be able to at least be 3g accepted from what I've seen. Backhaul is a big issue and I don't know why sprint is only going with centurylink in Weber/Davis counties.  Maybe they offered them a good price or made some good promises?  So there is your reasons as to why we are not seeing things happening up here.  Why are we the redheaded step child that doesn't have all the hardware up and a good amount of backhaul in?  I have no idea.  Maybe the install and acceptance teams are scared of the ogden gangs and wanted to live through Christmas and New Years?  I have no idea.  The fact is that we are and we can only wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait some more.  Though the last several times in salt lake last month my LTE speeds were horrible.  I see just as good of speeds here in Ogden on the legacy equipment.  (.2-.8 mbps were my LTE speeds in SLC and yes I had a good signal and I tested several times each time in SLC).  That was disappointing to see so now I'm not as excited.  I am now just looking forward to the 800 voice frequency.

  2. Eww, analog? That must be around the same time they were using leaches to cure headaches and thought the sun circled the Earth.

So I know this post was a joke but worms actually have medicinal uses.  Leeches (yes leeches are worms) have some great anitcoagulant properties and they are used occasionally medicinally with skin grafts and some other things.  Also there is some pretty amazing research that has been going on recently that shows some worms can help with digestive problems and are good for your digestive tract (no not the tape worm for all you anorexic folks).  Like I said I know that post was a joke and funny but thought you'd like that fun fact about worms.

  3. Yeah I meant Ogden dang swype I just can't stand everyone of my friends in the valley has Verizon I am sticking with sprint for the unlimited data but it's useless here off second street I got like .2 Mbps like wtf I might as well scream into a crowd to get info than wait for a page to download lol

Just know SOMETIMES LTE won't be very fast either.  Last night while in Salt Lake I had LTE and tested the speeds several times and I got between 0.2-0.6 up and I wasn't able to get faster speeds the rest of the night.

  4. My iphone never roams... It's EFFING annoying when there is absolutely no service... The other day I was in the theater and my little bro had 1x800 full bars and about 1 meg down. Th weird thing is I had full service but date was not usable and it said "3G" as well. But I was connected to band class 1 which is the PCS band. I think it's the prl's our iPhones use...

Since PRL 51099 on the iphone, has anyone been getting extra bad cell signal? My phone yesterday said no service the whole time i was at church while a friends iphone 5 with PRL 51098 had full service. my phone wouldn't even roam. i also keep going back and forth to one bar or no service instead of roaming while at work right now while all the other sprint users here have full bars. anyone else having issues like this at all?

I have had the same reception with the new PRL.  I also have had no issues getting on roaming either.  Maybe because I'm not in a NV upgraded area but I haven't had any issues.

  5. My prl was just updated to 51098. Is that prl good??? iPhone 5

Are you sure? Everyone is running 51099 now. I didn't even update my phone but that PRL was pushed to my phone obviously. 51098 It's an ok PRL. You get LTE with it but the scanning and use of 800 smr isn't great. There are many posts even in this thread that talks about the 800 frequency corresponding with the PRL so check that out.

  6. I'm still waiting patiently for LTE to be turned on in Orem.. I see that people are getting service all throughout north Utah County.. Hopefully Orem is next? Why would Spanish fork, Pleasant Grove, Logan, Tremonton, St George, Heber and a bunch of other cities get LTE before Orem and Provo? Eugh. Anyway, anyone know anything about Orem?

First off St. George doesn't have any LTE.  They don't even have any 3g sites accepted.  Second, Logan only has one tower that has LTE and its actually in Hyrum.  If you lived up there you'd be pissed.  Its like having American fork lite up (which has one tower active) and not orem.  You've only had to live with that for a few days, imagine those peeps up there that have that tower teasing them thinking they will get LTE soon and then nothing!!  They have been like that for months. No towers in Logan have been accepted though.  Third, you are getting LTE pretty soon.  Unlike areas such as Logan and the Ogden/Layton area.  Its moving its way down to you and you should have LTE soon.  Any more brain busters? Haha

Also I see its your first post so welcome!!  Enjoy S4GRU and the wealth of knowledge that abides here :)

  7. Anyone tell me is this the correct setting that my G2 needs to be on for the phone to be picking up lte? The last couple days I haven't really picked up any 4g, when I have the signal is so poor -115 to -119 that its unusable. Whenever it finds 4g it almost instantly goes back to 3g and 3g usually has a pretty good signal. Last week I picked up lte over by kearns high school....strong signal, good speeds etc. Since then the lte has been almost non-existent, and I'm not sure if its my phone, a phone setting OR if there still doing work that would prevent the phone from picking up a usable signal. I read posts on here of people picking up lte and I'm scratching my head why I'm not. I do ALOT of driving/traveling with my job from 2100 south(west side of slc) all the way down to Lindon in Utah County. With all the towers that I pass from wvc down to utah county you would think I'd picking up something other than 3g 90% of the time. I've heard that the g2 has radio issues that prevents it from picking up good signal and a update is possible at some point to fix the issue. Anyone having or heard of these issues....or is it just me? Also for the last couple days I've been having terrible phone issues(phone calls disconnecting, popping, crackling, kinda muffled/hard to understand). Yesterday I went in and changed the setting to "cdma only" NOT lte/cdma and the sound quality is perfect as though the person is standing right next to me and I haven't been disconnected from any calls since....does this make any sense to anyone?

It could be from CSFB.  Some other users of the triband phones struggle with the LTE connection as well in this market because of it.  From what I understand they have been activating it pretty quickly after sites get accepted.  You are probably picking up a tower that has CSFB enabled thats pretty far from you and trying to hold the signal.  Give it just a little more time and I'm pretty certain you will see improved coverage with your G2.  Im jealous you even have NV towers in your area.  Also I don't know enough about the G2 to answer your question on the call quality.  Sorry.

  8. Just curious...has anyone been having voicemail issues lately?  For the past few weeks my voicemails take a while to show up then when they do it shows them but won't play them for another 10-20 min.  It will show that there is a voicemail but it has 0:00 worth of message then 10-20 min later I can actually listen to it and it will show 0:12 or 0:22, however long the voicemail message is.  Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

  9. It says - 80 is that good or bad? I'm at 5600 s state. Getting 0.2 mbps. I hope it is just that they are still working on the towers.

-80 is a very good signal.  Make sure thats your LTE signal and not your voice signal.  There are a number of other factors that it could be.  Give it a few weeks and if you don't start seeing better speeds we could probably start to trouble shoot and also see what other people are experiencing around you.  So far all the speed tests I've seen down there have been solid.  Give it a little more time though before you start to worry.

  10. Just wondering if there is something wrong with my phone. I've been able to connect to '4g,' but I still can't manage over 1 MBPS. I was right by where I think the tower is in draper and....nothing. It said 4g and the call quality was good, but craptastic Internet. I have a galaxy s 3. I am a big time newbie about this stuff. Thanks in advance.

Run the signal check app or your engineering screen and see how your 4g signal is.  If you are getting a very weak signal like -100 or around there that doesn't surprise me you have lower speeds.  Also have you driven around to different parts of draper?  All of the sites in draper aren't activated just a few of them got 4g lit up and the rest were 3g accepted only.

  11. From the information we have around here, the bogging of data transfers should be limited for sometime as Sprint has put scalable backhaul in place for just that reason.

From what I've read and my understanding so does verizon.  But it will eventually catch up I think and my main point was the use of wifi when you can.

  12. Thought this was interesting.  Check out this video..http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000217915&__source=yahoo%7cheadline%7cquote%7cvideo%7c&par=yahoo

this just goes to show why Robert and the other moderators stress using wifi WHEN available.  Verizon already caps its users but is struggling.  Once sprint starts becoming a real contender with NV being done and gaining more subscribers they will run into the same problem and the first solution is to cap everyones data.  Obviously yes its unlimited and so when you are out and about have fun with it and enjoy not worrying about your data cap while you laugh at your friends.  To help keep it that way, this is precisely why they stress using wifi WHEN you can.

  13. And I know they can still work on the 3g side of things after lte is lit up.  My theory is we will see a lot more 3g/4g acceptances than 4g only.  Thats why I said refer to my sponsors thread post.  And obviously I know 1900pcs and 1900 lte will be on NV equipment.  I should have been more clear in my previous post of everything I meant.  My main point I was making was the 1-2 weeks thing.

  14. Actually it can happen much quicker. It just depends on how good of a jib the install team did, everything hook up and installed properly. It also depends on if they are just going to do lte, 3g, 800 or all three at once. I'd guess in urban areas they will do lte first then do 3g just because 1900 voice is fine in most urban areas. But that's just a guess on the later part.

It can happen quicker but generally doesn't.  In general its 1-2 weeks.  If it happens more quickly its usually because LTE is the only thing going live.  But remember I'm hopeful and cheering for 3g/4g simultaneous acceptances (refer to my post in the sponsors thread about that).  Also with 3g going away and only being on 1x they could have been doing the voice/911 testing in the area.  And I bet IF they were testing the 3g side it will be about a week or so before the "cluster" sites are accepted.  Can they get accepted earlier?  Yes!  Definitely!  Will it happen?  Most likely not.  Like I said in general (general begin the key word) it will be 1-2 weeks.  But hey if they were testing then of course I hope its earlier acceptances than the 1-2 weeks!  I'm just being realistic and going off what generally happens.

  15. Will do. I was and am having connect and reconnect issues with Sprint in Ogden today (till about 6ish) like someone is messing with the towers, so I was checking there and saw the 26 and 41 band.

My phone was bouncing from 1x back to 3g all day today.  It seemed like it was on 1x more times then not though.  Could be just tower issues or they could have been testing towers today!!  That'd be cool :)
