  1. I am using Google Chrome, but have checked and the "Reduce data usage" option is set to off. I am certainly not complaining though. As everyone else has stated, desperate times have come to desperate measures for Sprint lately in our area. They are far enough into the upgrade to have LTE almost everywhere, but not far enough to have the site density needed for capacity yet. I am much happier to see them take an active role in preserving LTE quality in the interim so that I have usable data in most cases, even if the images look sloppy sometimes. This proves to me that Sprint is really trying to put emphasis on keeping the quality of mobile data services good, even throughout the rollout when network conditions aren't always favorable. They don't want to let this new network crash and burn (at least, not in cases where they can prevent it with a single 5 MHZ LTE carrier for now). Now, if image compression is happening on B41 once I get the Spark update for my N5, I will complain/make a stink then
  2. Sorry, here's the link http://sprint.com/legal/open_internet_information.html For some reason with a www. the page doesn't load.
  3. I have not noticed with videos but have definitely noticed with images, especially on image sharing apps like Tumblr, Flickr, and Pinterest. Sprint does employ jpeg/gif compression on their network, see here: http://www.sprint.com/legal/open_internet_information.html It has been frustrating me for a while but I haven't seen it brought up too much. Some sites seem to compress more than others. Compression is generally much less apparent on 3G. On LTE, it can get ugly, definitely what I would define as "user perceptible loss of quality." I am hoping that after NV is complete and Sprint has a more stable network, they will be able to scale back the compression a bit while still maintaining network quality. With LTE sites in some cases covering 1.5-2x the area they would be covering vs if all sites were upgraded, I can see why Sprint wants to provide a good overall user experience via compression.
  4. That site and the site a little further down at Portwest (still legacy) have been the only two sites on my regular commute that are always overburdened. Spotify stops streaming every time if it's before 11 PM and I get to drive in silence for that stretch of 94.
  5. Forgot to post, but it looks like work has started on the site at I-64 and MO River. Saw a crew there yesterday with ropes hanging down, and today the ropes are gone. I think the new panels are mounted but I cannot tell for sure, there are a lot of Ericsson-looking panels on the tower and I can't really get a good look driving by on the highway.
  6. Are you down in the Dierberg's plaza when having issues? I've noticed that when connected to LTE down in that sort of valley (relative to the tower) my signal strength drops to -100 or below and my SNR values are low, between 0.1-2.0. Haven't ran a speedtest in that scenario though. But when I come up onto Veterans Memorial or Zumbehl, my signal strength and SNR both increase along with speeds, even on the same sector. I've always wondered what the deal is with that, some sort of interference maybe or just the elevation change. But if you're having issues with the site on all sectors, I don't know what could be the cause of that because that has not been my experience (on LTE at least).
  7. Are you saying that you're having difficulty with the LTE on it? I always pulled fairly good speeds from it on my One, although I am convinced something is weird with its downtilt or panel mounting as its coverage does not reach very far. You can see the side profile of the panels and they are aimed pretty low. I switched to my new Nexus 5 on Tuesday of this week, though, and it will not connect to LTE on that site. And just like when this site was running legacy, EVDO is completely unusable on the two sectors facing the highway.
  8. I was actually on the other side of 70 (service road) heading towards the 370/70 site trying to verify it. I was not able to connect to the 370/70 site, but I did connect to the site SCID I posted which matched the Mid Rivers Mall site. Then, a little further down, I handed off to the Cave Springs site that I already posted the SCID for on Monday when I first got signal at my house.
  9. Cave Springs and Ticonderoga right before I was about to crawl into bed this evening. Excited to finally have 4G (albeit fringe) this close to home.
  10. 4000th post! Saw the opportunity and had to take it
  11. Interesting. Looks like when they had the lift up there, they removed the panels from the middle rack on the tower. See the google street view reference for before: I don't think those were sprint's panels, so I guess there's nothing to report here. Wishful thinking.
  12. Update in the St. Charles Area--yesterday I was traveling 70 westbound from Cave Springs and I noticed workers up on a lift at the site at Patmos Court and the 1-70 North Outer Road, by the Lou Fusz Dealership there. They looked to be installing panels, but I couldn't look for long as I was driving. I may stop by sometime to see if I can get any pictures of ground work.
  13. Well, I've been quite a bit of a lurker, but I figure I'll chime in about St. Charles. The site nearest to my house, Muegge and Wapelhorst Park, has some brand new shiny orange fiber markers out front that were definitely not there a few weeks ago. Usually while I'm driving I attempt to focus on the road, so I can't tell you exactly when they were put up despite driving past this site at least twice a day. Today was the first day I've noticed them, however. I would look for work on the ground, but unfortunately the site seems to be in someone's yard. Also, this is a pole type site (although no flag) so I wouldn't be able to see anything as far as panels go. I drove out to Microcenter in Brentwood the other day (partially for a new UPS for work, and partially because I wanted to test out LTE ) and pulled a consistent average of 14mbps down and 6mbps up despite it being rush hour. Although this tower by my house provides steady .8mbps down and up, which is much better than most sprint sites (has anyone ever been to six flags and tried to hop on the internet?), I am ready for LTE
