  1. They're installing RRUs at the High Street location in Lancaster. Talked to one of the guys. He's putting up 4 panels today and said this site would be up and running in 3-4 days. But I've been told that before only to be disappointed. But both main sites in Lancaster are getting RRUs.

I also asked the guy why there would be 4 cabinets at the other Lancaster site and he said they must be putting more than 4 panels up.

  2. My report

Talked to the crew working on Main Street in Lancaster. He said 4 NV panels just went up yesterday on the bottom rung and it's "up and running now.". He said a Vietnamese guy usually comes by to inspect though and he said LTE would be on in a few days just like the other crew at High Street in Lancaster. But we all know what that means.

I also asked him why they used 4 cabinets when they only set up 4 panels and he said what we thought that it was a busy site. There are 6 roughed in conduit fiber lines but only 4 lines hooked up (3 from one cabinet and 1 from the other). He said they could add capacity later.

  3. Just to clarify for you, the RRH's are already there. I spotted them months ago. You can see them on the third rung from the bottom. What they are working however is something that Lancaster has never had.....2500. That is very possible to have live in a few days the way that Sprint has been rushing that into existence. That's a golden find there!

Well maybe that's T-Mobile they're working on. I can't decide. I would say TMO for sure but they have one of those microwave links that Clear was using which is kinda throwing me off.

They were working on the bottom rung - you can barely see the two guys but they're in the picture above.  The other site in Lancaster (High Street) was getting 4 new NV panels.  I saw them close up, laying beautifully on the ground.  The panels at Main Street in Lancaster may have already been up before (not sure) but they were working on panels that looked the exact same to me.  I did not go up and talk to them and ask.  There are 4 cabinets at the Main Street location and the two had no fiber running up the pole when I looked last week (just a few feet of conduit sticking out with duck tape over the ends).  Maybe they were running the fiber up the pole.  I'll investigate tomorrow.

  4. Could be high capacity?

"Up and Running" is the problem. From their standpoint, it most likely is up and running when it is complete on their side. The problem is Sprint verifying its completion and then the cluster launch nature of NV. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but continue to be hesitant. This tower will most likely not be live this week. I'd love to be wrong though.

I'm just glad to see work. I'm in Lancaster quite a bit.

    "RRH's"

  6. I'm not sure what you mean... The spreadsheet link is in Coz' signature if that is what you are looking for.

EDI: Coz beat me to it.

In the tapatalk app there were no links under the signature. I found it now with Coz's link.

  9. Tri-band far from useful? What about LTE 800?

When LTE 800 is ready to go I'll be ready to upgrade. But like you said the other day, if the 1900 works well it may not be a huge deal. Plus I'll wait until the tri bands can handle voice and data simultaneously. I had to get rid of the Evo. It wasn't cutting it and moto x users have been very pleased.

  10. For now, the story is as follows: HTC One Max, SGS4 Mini and the Galaxy Mega are the only tri-band enabled phones with the Spark update already out.  The LG-G2 and LG-N5 WILL work with band 41, however, we are at the liberty of LG as to when that update will hit and allow our phones to connect to B41.  The current timeframe is "early 2014" for the update, but keep in mind that could be April or it could be tomorrow.

If you are buying the phone on contract, I may recommend holding out for the new S5.  The N5 is a great phone and I LOVE it, but I wouldn't waste my upgrade on it.  Keep in mind it can be had for $350 with no contract (which is how I purchased it).

    Hope this helps.

So I bought a moto x for $250. I saved my upgrade and over $100 vs a new Nexus. The tri band thing is far from useful. But now in my house I get LTE where my old Evo did not. Besides losing root this phone is great.

  11. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but your device is one of the worst rf performers around. That is from experience... After switching to the nexus five my experience with 1900 LTE is night and day. Last thing you wanted to hear, but it isn't all network related.

No, that's actually good news.  I'm about to upgrade in January.  Most of the reviews for the MotoX are great but think I'll be getting the Nexus 5 since it's tri-band.  How's the battery?

  12. you're probably under the antennas still. I went west on Winchester Rd and only got -81 when i should have been able to pull -70ish. The general aiming of the tower is 0/120/240 degrees, then factor in if the antennas were aimed off-axis with the mounting poles and the tower height. Oh then power, seemed like the 800 power was low on a sector too. Look at Sensorly, it's kind of indicating weak signal out the south west sector. I bet if you mapped Kauffman, Castlewood, Brandt and Coonpath you'd see weaker signals. The north and south east sectors are banging with that deep dark sexxy purple.

Well that stinks. I mean I'm happy that LTE is here but it seems like you almost have to be lined up with the panels or you're SOL?!  I'm like a mile away - every time I drive by my house I drop the signal as I move directly south of the pole.  I get voice and 3g just fine.  There's dark purple to my west and east.  Hopefully as they tweak the network and work fills in completely it'll be better.  Especially the 800 LTE.  Question: What kind of speeds do you expect from 800 LTE??  5mb or so.
