Do you guys have any idea what the LTE coverage maps are based on? Given the completed sites map and my own experience I think this coverage map is a little bit optimistic.

Anyone testing this in San Antonio? I only have a 3d, but I am hoping that when they flip the LTE switch, they will flip the "better 3g" switch too. I get great WIMAX around the city (avg 4 down 1 up), but if I drop to 3g, it is usually 45-80 kbps.
Just picked up an EVO LTE tonight, no sign of LTE at my house, but I'm connected to a 3G tower that is listed as having LTE deployed. I haven't driven around yet to see if I have any better luck elsewhere.

Any clue why the antenas are different sizes on each side of the tower?

We have not reported one single NV site completed in San Antonio has 3G EVDO activated yet. The only sites with NV 3G live so far in Texas are around Waco.

I understand the reasons behind deploying a NV site as 3G only, but what is the reason behind doing LTE only sites?

So is it just me or was 3G faster in SA before? Seemed like it went the opposite direction ever since NV started.
I don't know if it's NV or what. This is also just a correlation, but things seemed to go down hill for me around the time of the iPhone launch.

Strange as I was thinking about that. When I was in San Antonio I noticed that my speeds did feel slower than a few months ago. I don't know if this was because they became slower or if it was psychological as I was taking more and more speedtests.
3G speeds have been tragic for me for the last 6 months or so in SA. Usually around 75kbps up and 200kbps down. I've even seen the dreaded 1xRT a few times in the last few weeks.
I'm wondering if there are any NV sites that have confirmed 3G updates arounds, since everywhere I have run a speed test so far has been about the same.

Hopefully this is another good sign, Sprint is letting journalists test their LTE network. Other than some speed test, there isn't much interesting, no mention of any 3G improvements or battery life tests.

However the rules they have put in their phones for when they switch between LTE and CDMA don't provide anything near that right now.
