Received 'coverage update' emails from Sprint-Mo/T-Sprint today notifying me that Airraves are no longer needed and that:  "Your device will be shut down within 30 days and removed from your account. There is nothing more you need to do."    I suppose that's that.

I've been using an Airave still, as I need it. Apparently on July 31, 2021 they shut them all down. They did not let me know.. and so now I'm trying to figure out how to get coverage at my house again..

  2. It seems like they have options. Being in the South Central PA Shentel market, I'd love to see Shentel wireless business purchased by T-Mobile. I hate having zero resources to get phones repaired, make actual billing inquiries, get the same deals on phones.. as well as being an ignored market as far as upgrades to towers more than 1/4 mile off of I-81/I-83.

    1) New T-Mobile could buy Shentel’s wireless business; 2) Shentel could buy T-Mobile’s subs in its footprint at 75% of their value with financing help from New T-Mobile (if needed); or 3) T-Mobile would have to turn off the competing network; with this, Shentel would get rid of a competitor and gain access to T-Mobile’s spectrum. For the right deal, including the purchase of T-Mobile’s subs, we expect management could take leverage up to 4.5x.”

Full Disclosure: Prior Shentel employee for 5 years, love the company and hope the best for them.

  3. I was just in State College this morning, it's a shame they don't even have 4G there yet.

I saw 4G pop up once or twice in my State College travels last weekend but I didn't get much of a chance to see how the N5 was acting there since that was technically Sprint territory (I beileve) rather than Shentel. If I had time to waste I'd drive to Baltimore tonight before swapping my phone but I'm just going to swap the N5 for the Moto X and once I hear that the issue has been resolved I'll grab a new N5 from the Play Store.

Thanks for the info everyone.. and I'll be following this thread again!

  4. So, are we able to confirm that Shentel has the eCSFB Gap Issue which is stopping the LG G2 & Nexus 5 from using LTE, or is this an intermittent issue that might only effect certain towers since I haven't been able to use LTE anywhere in Harrisburg/York since getting the Nexus 5.

If Shentel territory is effected by the eCSFB Gap Issue would there be any way to know a timeframe for this to be resolved?

  5. Does anyone know if there is a way to report coverage issues to Shentel or Sprint? I recently got rid of my Note II due to inability to make/receive phone calls or send text messages anywhere in the Harrisburg/York area but there are still a few areas where I get no service that I feel are well enough populated that they shouldn't be lacking service (near 1700 S Market St, Mechanicsburg, PA for example).

  6. This is one of the issues of allowing customers to use early completed sites. People get frustrated that coverage isn't where they want it. I'm glad that they are allowing early connections to completed sites.

Shentel is not anywhere near launchable service in Harrisburg. But you get to enjoy where it is complete at least.

Believe me, I understand they are nowhere near done.. Just anxious!

  7. So I know that Shentel isn't officially "rolling out" LTE yet, but being that the first place that we saw Shentel LTE in Pennsylvania was in downtown Harrisburg I'm hoping that they speed up the rollout in Harrisburg. It is crazy the amount of coverage they have launched in Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill and York yet I still can't get LTE in downtown Harrisburg at my work (near the market) or the YMCA.

I'm really hoping this doesn't start to feel like WiMax all over again where I know that there was a rollout, I just don't go anywhere that it actually exists.
