  1. Its way more than 1%, There are a plethora of towers already upgraded, just waiting for backhaul which is totally off schedule even if we had the backhaul readiness dates, it wouldn't matter because those dates are out of sprints hand's and into an oligopolisitc set of bandwidth providers that are either a competing company A: AT&T or B: BrightHouse has a contract with AT&T to slow the process down to a crawl(just speculating).

I'm considering switching to at&t. I have only been with sprint for about 6 weeks but the speeds are just not doing it for me since I came from t-mobile 4g HSPA, like I can't even check my voicemail. I'm afraid that this rollout in Daytona is going to take till the end of the year, maybe past that. Should I stay though, and are there any towers in Port Orange that are just waiting for backhaul ?

  2. I spy N.V. equipment in that photo, its a good sign.. But contractors are working ahead of backhaul preparation in daytona, Most likely it won't be LTE live for a while.. I'm assuming this is the tower at 225 Fentress Blvd which has permits pulled and issued for Westower Communications. It passed inspection for electrical work on April 2nd; Which is a good thing to know since the same electrical contractor is doing the other towers aswell. Could help correlate the upgrade dates..

When is backhaul scheduled for Daytona. Also one thing I'm confused about, there are some towers in Daytona that sprints says have had data speed upgrades, yet when I'm near them, my 3g still sucks. A sprint rep claims they are only 1% finished in Volusia county but the numbers aren't adding up

  3. Today I was at best buy on the international speedway in Daytona Beach across the street from the nascar race track and noticed there were men working on this tower. I assumed it was sprint since all the other carriers already have LTE officially launched in Daytona, anyone know anything about it ?

  4. Ok so I found some pretty extraordinary stuff while I was in Melbourne today. With my iPhone being jailbroken, I got an app called Signal 2, which approximates the location of the cell phone tower you're connected to. It's not 100% accurate but this is as good as it gets.

So I ran a speed test at this exact spot shown below in the first picture, and got the speed test result shown in the 2nd picture. I got just under 30mpbs within thousands of feet of an active LTE tower. So I can probably suggest to expect to see a maximum download speed of 30-35mbps and an average of 4-10mbps indoors when it's launched here in Orlando, but of course, it could be even faster.

Also, check out the third photo. When the line is blue, it means the tower is visible, but not connected. So it turns out my iPhone detected a tower's approximate location in Oviedo all the way from Melbourne, which I thought was pretty incredible. That gives us an idea of the real potential of a tower's signal strength. I thought these were very interesting. Can't wait to see this stuff happen on our side of town.

If you can pick up the signal in Melbourne from Oveido, then how come we can't pick up the signal from Oveido to Daytona. According to your map it seems like the same distance

  5.

Where did you hear that? It's sad that other carriers are saying sprint is taking to long for this when they are replacing the entire network not just to add LTE.

The SoftBank deal will give sprint some much needed funds to accelerate the rollout.

  6.

There was one site in Holly Hill that was originally marked as 4G LTE accepted. It was changed to 3G acceptance. There was an error on my end when reporting it. It's the only one I can think of we changed in the Daytona area.

Are there any towers in Daytona/Volusia that have been LTE accepted ?

  7.

LTE is being deployed to every single sprint tower, not just a few like with what clearwire did; From what I understand now is if you are getting a usable 3G signal now(not speeds, signal) you will get a usable LTE signal post NV and your 3G signal will get even better.

The tower at Williamson next to the school and behind someones house has been like that for 7 months. I freaked when I saw FPL contractors there putting in something that resembled FPLfibernet, but it wasn't.. That tower is owned by T-Mobile but sprint leases it, but I haven't seen any permits pulled for it other than the two on dunlawton.

The tower on Williamson across from 7/11 is an AT&T/New Cingular owned tower, I doubt sprint would lease there or if the structure will be able to support NV due to how overloaded it looks with all that AT&T stuff on it now.. If sprint did put NV there it would possibly cause interference with the two nearest towers since they are so close, even then you should be good getting a LTE signal even around and within the pavilion.

Ok. Hopefully once the SoftBank deal is finalized, sprint will go full speed ahead on the rollout. It'd be sad to see T-Mobiles LTE surpass Sprints.

  8.

Sprint is bringing LTE to virtually every tower. You can’t associate current WiMax coverage with Sprint’s future LTE coverage, for WiMax is provided by Clearwire. How is your Sprint signal?

At my house I average between 3 and 4 bars. Once every blue moon it will reach 5 for about a minute or so and then drop back down to 4. Around the city I average between 3 and 5 bars

  9.

I'm limited since this isn't the sponsor section, but I know that the limiting factor here in ormond/daytona/portorange is backhaul. 3G NV equip includes LTE and all thats needed is carrier cards or backhaul for it to be live..

I really have a hunch the conflict of interest with using AT&T is the cause of this..

Just some clarification. According to Sprints WiMAX coverage map, the WiMAX coverage in port orange is very spotty and poor. Will LTE be better with coverage? There is a tower off of Williamson blvd on what looks to be private property near the spruce creek, according to research it is a tmobile tower. But also sprint because according to sprint "see what's happening in your neighborhood" NV upgrade map, that tower has had a voice upgrade. There are two levels on the tower. The first one most likely tmobile and the second one most likely sprint. But yesterday I noticed that the protruding structures that the antennas would be mounted on are installed but there are no actual antennas mounted on them. And I only see one section of wire going down the tower. Could this be future LTE tower for sprint? Also there is an AT&T tower at the corner of Williamson and Taylor across from the 7 eleven. Its only has AT&T on it right now but is sprint planning to install LTE on that tower in the future, or would they even need to ?

  10. I put together a map of cities where Sprint has already announced LTE, and the communities that Sprint has announced will have LTE soon. I have also marked the cities that have LTE available in the area, but are not yet launched. These are marked as Pre-Launch cities.

In total, there are about 318 cities or communities that have LTE or are slated to receive LTE soon.

I will update the map as more cities are launched, or Sprint adds more cities to the coming soon list.

    KEY:

Coming Soon: Sprint has announced LTE will be coming in the next several months

Launched: Sprint has formally announced LTE in this area

Pre-Launch: This city has been announced by Sprint, LTE is available, but not formally launched.

LTE Available: This city has not been announced, but LTE is available in some locations.

Why is Daytona listed as coming soon, when it is on the first 100 list of cities to get LTE ?

  11.

It was showing how bad LTE will be with no backhaul to support it.. That's why lte wouldn't be live atm.

Oh ok. By the way some good news. I talk to sprint customer service today and she said that they are going to start lighting up Daytona around June or July. And it should be finished by the fall

  12. This is why LTE isn't live in Daytona:

    https://www.dropbox....%2018.45.34.png

    1. This was off an I4 Exit in longwood(I believe)

    2. My phone charger died while the gps was running and failed to boot the phone, pulled off this exit to get another charger and noticed 4G was on and then the phone quit as it was charging

    3. Couldn't get into LTE engineering due to the fact I was in a hurry to get home at the time(already wasted 10 mins getting the phone to boot to test 4G) So I'm not entirely sure if its a signal issue or backhaul ping was high so, id assume backhaul)

Edit: It was off State Road 434 and i4..

I'm confused. What does Longwood have to do with Daytona ?

  13. No, but there is complete tower for some time. Just needs to be on.

When I bought my iphone 5, the sales rep told me the same thing. When I asked him when they would be turned on he said December 2013. That seems very far off. Is this accurate or could there be another reason why they haven't turned them on yet ?

  14. Told you the same thing as what?

    I don't totally follow you're question.

I'm wondering if it's missing a quote, but if you're wondering if they're waiting until Dec. to turn on LTE, they're not. There is LTE live right now all over the place in Florida, and even the Orlando market. It's a little scarce right now in Orlando proper, but that will fill in during the coming weeks and months. Work is on going, and they are activating each tower as soon as it's complete. The market should have a launchable amount of service by this summer, if not before.

Sorry about that, i'm still learning how to use the forums, but I was saying that the sales rep at sprint told me that towers were complete in the Daytona area, but they would not be turned on until December 2013 because something about they are still working on the infrastructure

  16. Does any one know if sprint had begun installing LTE in the Daytona Beach/Volusia county area. And if not, then when. By following sensorly over he past few months I've noticed that LTE goes all the way from key west to Jacksonville, covering just about every city on the way up and literally skipping right over Daytona. I thought Daytona would be one of the first cities to receive LTE since they are a major sponsor of the Daytona 500. Can someone shed some light on this, and has anyone picked any LTE in the Daytona Beach area. Thanks in advance
