updated last night, i havent noticed anything different but i never had any wifi issues to begin with
-
Not really any better for me after the update. Sitting here with my wife's gs3 on a -83dbm lte signal while my EVO won't even pick it up after a airplane mode dance.

over at my sister in laws house now, heres a speed test from my wifes ip5 after trying for 20 minutes to get it to actually complete.
and heres 1 from my evo early this morning when i drove by on my way to work.
honestly i hope they get this resolved as this is almost identical to there 3g issues in this area for the past 2+ years, great speeds at night, barely useable during the day and evening yet they continued to say nothing was wrong/towers werent over loaded/ over capacity etc.

I understand that, but I'm in areas that I consistently got 6-12 down for weeks now. And were talking about my EVO, the phone thats not really good at holding onto weak signals Its been happening more frequently lately but in only one area has a Sprint rep confirmed a network problem.
Just wondering if its just me or are others also having troubles.

Yup, over by ny sister in laws house has been awful over off Westover hills. We left there 1 night around 4am and I was pulling 20mb, but during the day your lucky to get 200k, most of the time it just times out on everything.

I picked it up out at 281/1604 for a little bit, but it dropped out and I couldn't get it to ever pick back up. Coverage seems to be real spotty still.
If your using the EVO its spotty, my daughter's ip5 is almost always on lte.

Lol, 2k4mach, what are you a drug dealer (come on, everyone was thinking it)? How do you afford every phone model? Do you have a bunch of family members in your house on all phones?
lmao, the s3 is my wifes and the ip5 is my daughters. there 2 lines were up for upgrades this year. wife was still rocking the original epic before i upgraded her. my daughter had my og evo. looks like ill upgrade them again next year since all my lines i upgraded this year are eligible again 5/1/13.

well ive been so busy with life ive kinda put dealing with this on hold but the past week ive suddenly started noticing the phone is picking up lte quite a bit more than it used to. still no where near what the s3 and ip5 get.

Wow! I think I would have lost it too after laughing and asking where the camera crew was at.
The Evo LTE can't do LTE? That explains it!

i couldnt believe my ears when they said that.
What store was this?

It's funny that it was missing, considering it's the one having issues.
they were there last week when i was in there and of course they were on 3g
You did good 2k4mach! You need to send a friend in to record and ask the same question and then send it to Sprint and upload it on YouTube. Reps in the stores, best buy, etc really don't know anything about tech in general. I always cringe when I hear someone say, "The guy at Best Buy said I needed to get..." LOL FACEPALM!
i really need to just have a camera crew follow me around all the time. i always seem to find these type of people around town all the time.

That's pretty sad.....I guess that LTE network option on the phone is just there for decoration.
Didn't they have a demo Evo in the store?
They were missing from the display. The s3 and ip5 displays were on LTE as were mine.

welp i got kicked outta the store for calling the tech and manager morons but with a choice word before it lol.
these jokers tryed telling me the evo cant connect to lte because........................wait...........................wait......................its not an lte capable phone only the ip5, s3, and viper are lte phones in sprints line up. i had to laugh but then i guess i got a little too agressive with my wording when telling them they were morons and that even the name of the phone is the evo 4glte.

At the sprint store now with the EVO along with the s3 and ip5. Both on LTE and the EVO on 3g.

2k4mach, do you have a plane in that hanger? if so what kind? My dad has a Cessna 175 and my brother has an RV-3.
Anyways back on topic...
I took my Evo into the closest repair center to the Sprint campus here in Overland Park. After looking at all their phones and seeing that they were all running on LTE with full bars. I showed the guy that mine was only 3g. I let them know of the issue and how other phones will pick up the LTE while mine just sits on 3g unless I cycle airplane mode and even then it won't stay on 4G. They had me leave it awhile so the techs could look into it. They re-flashed it and said to try that and if it was still having issues then to bring it back and they will swap it. It was on LTE as i left but it quickly dropped back to 3g. So I'll be going back tomorrow to do the swap I guess.
As you guys know the new one will probably have the same issues. So again I'll have to take it back. I don't plan on stoping till they can do something for me. So this could be a long week at the Sprint store.
What do you think my odds of getting a trade offer? If they do offer me a trade what phone should I go with?
yeah have a cessna 210. ill be headed to sprint tomm. with my wifes s3 with me to show lte and no lte lol. im going with the 3 strike rule, thats the way ive always been treated by sprint when it comes to phone problems. if it didnt then i called retentions and explained everything and they would take care of me.

Was in Castroville last weekend! Ip5 had lte driving most of the way up Hwy 90 and into town while EVO was 3g the entire way. That's when I realized there were many more active lte towers around SA then my EVO was connecting to. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
was back out there today to pay my hanger rent, if your using sensorly ive mapped as much as i could today out there lol. been trying to map out san antonio as im out and about during the day. you can see my travels over in helotes and culebra/1604 as im all over that area and i think ive got it mapped out as best as it can. oh yeah today it actually picked up lte in my hanger pretty quickly once i got there and stuck till we left.

I'm sorry. I'm in San Antonio Texas. King William is an old neighborhood south of downtown. And the Friendly Spot is a neighborhood patio/bar.

been a while since i was down there. i should have snapped some pics earlier while i was at castroville airport. ip5 picked it up about half a mile away and held it the whole time. dang evo picked it up literally 5 minutes after we got to our hanger and if i walked or rode the dune buggy or 4wheeler 2 hangers over it would lose it.

BTW, if you guys want to use any of these pics ive posted for any articles your writing feel free to use them.

That's crazy. I guess here's to hoping HTC continues to address the problem. It's sad really, I love this phone and have always preferred HTC and Sense over everything else. I hope as long as it isn't a hardware issue it can be resolved in future updates.
same here ive owned nothing but HTC since the diamond and touch pro days, but this is quickly leaving a bad taste in my mouth after seeing just how much lte is live around the city and this phone doesnt want to use it.

Had same experience. Fiancé's ip5 had lte in places my evo has never found a signal. Her iPhone was also able to pick up lte while driving on the highway which my evo never does. I'm in San Antonio and after seeing how often the ip5 picks up lte I am impressed at how far along he NV rollout has progressed.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
yup, i thought lte was spottty until i got the wife her s3 and the daughter an ip5. it seems like there always on lte while im stuck on 3g all the time.

Then that might be a Sprint/HTC fail haha. Someone on XDA noted that increasing the LTE Scan timer to 60 helped, but I'm unsure of what the values actually mean. One would think seconds but increasing from 30 (default) to 60 and it helped ... ?
Tryed that edit this evening. Didn't help at all for me. Sat at the soccer field for an hour during my daughter's soccer practice. No LTE on my EVO. Her ip5 was on LTE the whole time.

allright just got off the phone with sprint. weather or not any of this is true i have no clue. i was told that they are aware of the connection issues and there will be another update soon to correct these issues. i told the guy if there not fixed soon i will be calling back until it either gets fixed or the phone is replaced with 1 that can actually connect and hold an lte connection like the s3 or the ip5 that are on my account.
New update for Evo 4G LTE
