  1. The problem is likely your weak handset. The Galaxy Nexus is basically junk because of its chipset configuration, which features separate CDMA2000 and LTE basebands from VIA Telecom and Samsung, respectively, both of which can operate independently and are sub par compared to a singular Qualcomm solution.

My guess is that you were likely attracted to the Galaxy Nexus by unadulterated Android, but you got substandard hardware in exchange. That was a bad choice, but it is also one that you will likely not face again anytime soon, as any CDMA2000 compatible Nexus handset is probably never again in the offing.

What would your explanation be for the other 2 posters who don't appear to have a GNex - one appears to be using an S3 and the other an Evo4G

No. The current coverage by the 4g signal is the maximum that sprint is setting them at or the permanent setting. If you don't get a 4g signal in your location but you still get a decent 3g signal then your specific area is covered by an adjacent cell site that will provide a stronger signal. Trust me. You don't want to be on the edge of a 4g signal.

I actually get crappy 3G service at my house - always use WiFi when I'm home. I am hoping 4G will be better!

  3. Picked up LTE for the first time from the site on 208th in Kent. I live about 4 blocks southwest of the southern most coverage area according to Sensorly, so haven't ever been able to connect from home :( Needed to go north towards Fairwood today, though, and was connected to LTE for most of the drive there and back home - until about 2 blocks from my house, where I was sad to see the signal drop back to 3G.
