  1. Oh boy, I hope you're sitting down.  There is no way for the G4, or any modern Sprint "Spark" phone, to be on phone call and the internet at the same time.  It uses one path for data and phone call transmission.  That's just the way it is and will always be until VoLTE arrives to Sprint in some undetermined future timetable.

Hmmn wish I would've know that. Its like we're going back to the past. Does Verizon have the same issue?

  2. I have had the G4 for 3 days now. I really love the phone coming from a Note 3. My only problem is I can't find out how to be on LTE while on a phone call, which is something I could do with my Note 3. Does anyone know of a way to change this? Can a software update fix this. I am assuming this is still possible as carriers and companies aren't in the business of taking features away. Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  3. So has Sprint run out of money or just stopped the upgrading and this is the extent of it. While I have a LTE signal in my town it is weak and not very consistent. It has been the same since I bought my S3 back in December and nothing as changed. I live in West Springfield and have LTE mostly all over town, Springfield has it in the downtown area but I haven't picked it up anywhere else in the city. Agawam has it over most of the town as well as the south eastern parts of Westfield. But like I said nothing has changed in coverage for the past 4 months and I am beginning to think that this is as good as it is going to get. I hope I am wrong and someone can enlighten me on if they are done or not. BTW the 3g is still horrendous to the point of unusable.

Don't forget we had a crazy winter and it is only starting to get warm now, I would be patient the warmer weather should hopefully bring more LTE.

  4. I read a post on XDA forums that showed how to get the update manually, and it worked for me! Be warned it took many tries to get it to work, but in the end I was rewarded!

"Try this: Go to Settings > Apps (or Applications) and select show All. Then find Google Services Framework and click the Clear Data button. Then click the Force Stop button.

Might have to do it a couple times but that should work. Think I did it twice before my phone sent me the notification."

I tried this and my phone updated about an hour later. Thanks for the instructions!

  5. FYI, make sure you're comparing apples to apples here. Deductible through Asurion for the S3 is $150. You paid $150 in exchange for a 2yr contract extension. Forego the $11/mo insurance today and a replacement tomorrow will cost you $550 from Sprint.

No I just had to replace my phone through Assurion and it was $150.

  6. TEP is $11 if you have a Galaxy S3 and maybe an EVO not sure, but once I got the Galaxy the amount went up to $11. I just bought AppleCare for my wife's Iphone 5 seems like a good deal. Fine print say $50 replacement or so. I just paid $150 for my Galaxy S3.

Awww that sucks. Wouldn't be so bad if you had dropped your own phone but to have someone else do it (wife or no wife) has to be crushing.

I LOL'd when she said YOU should buy a phone.

Exactly like I was the one to drop it in the 1st place. My replacement should be here tomorrow and I'm hoping they had no refurbs in stock.

  8. Saturday was a sad day for my S3. I remember taking a half day to get my phone from UPS the day they came. My wife took my phone with her sat cuase she could not find hers, and she dropped it and now the screen doesn't show anything. The screen still works in that I can unlock the phone and accept calls and everything I just can't see anything on the screen. $150 through insurance to get another phone. As I was on the phone with Sprint about to shell out $150 she tells me maybe I should buy another phone, because she has dropped her old Epic many times and it is still working. So i told her I don't drop my phone I'll be ok. The nerve. Anyway waiting for my factory refurb to come now. :wall:

  9. Picked up LTE tonight in Watertown. Grove Street heading towards the river / Cambridge. Almost 8mb down. 2.8mb up. Also, down by the Garden/North Station. Only 2.8mb down, 1mb up. Either way, I'm excited!

Nice thats great news I'm in Waltham. Now if only the city council would grant sprint the permits.
