  1. It has been noted in other markets that it can get bad for a little while but then it is fine.

OK, well today has been a much better day for the network and have not had to use GrooVe IP at all. But still nervous everytime I pick up the phone. Batterylife has been much worse but most of day was in a 3g neighborhood. So who knows what that means.

  2. So with the upgrade and now that I am getting LTE at home both my wife's LG Optimus G (stock) and my rotted LTEvo on phone calls have been absolute CRAP! And I don't want to understate this, CRAP! Either static calls or busy signals. You then have to hang up and call back then it still could be crap. Also on calls in. I am in Rochester, has anyone else seen/heard this. It so bad I would be more then willing to drop Sprint. And it takes a lot to make me mad but this is ridiculous.

  3. This might not be news to anyone..but I was down in Rochester this week and got some good LTE signals around the US 52/41st Ave NW areas. I have an Evo 4G LTE so most times I've gone thru an area with some LTE coverage (Burnsville, Rockford IL, Owatonna) my phone's picked up the 4G and then reverts back to 3G when there's an even slight drop in reception. I held the 4G signal driving all thru this area and even inside the Applebee's on the frontage road. area of good signal wasn't very big (didn't make it to my mom's house nearthe Hy-Vee on 37th street), but where I could puck it up my phone seemed willing to stick wih it. Speeds were in the 4000-8000 range.

Also got some solid reception in the Hugo area...my phone hung on to the 4G signal tbru several miles of residential streets and main roads witb speeds between 8000 and 10000. Think I may have even contributed some new Sensorly blips.

I was very excited to try out my phone in some areas with a strong enough signal for my phone to lock on and stay on 4g for a while. Looking forward to some LTE love coming my way in Duluth!!

Ya I've been trying to contribute to sensorly the best I can here in Rochester. What sucks now is I can't get any connection to LTE where it has been previously mapped. Kinda over by Costco's. And they are leaving the SE side of Rochester in the cold right now for upgrades. Hopefully with warmer weather things will speed up.

And Sprint keep going along west of Kasson on highway 14 with 4g. Pass that point I'm lucky if I can catch 1g.

  4. It's Thursday!

So yesterday I mapped a few new road in Rochester then took a turn down an old mapped road and dropped LTE like a bad habit. Does that have to do with things being "moved" on a tower to project to a different area and no longer get it where I had previously? I used to get a solid lock on that road but now nothing.

  5. Interesting. I've NEVER gotten a dropped call on Sprint and I can't count the number of times I got dropped calls on AT&T.

That being said, if you're in Rochester there's LTE all over that town now (moreso than my own town) so you should be good to go.

True in the last year or so (been with sprint well over 7 years) I have not had too many dropped calls, more just horrible reception both on rooted phones and non rooted phone but I see a quality increase with the LTE in town. I do a lot more "country" driving I guess where reception isn't so good. Right now when driving around the neighborhoods in Roch I am lucky if I get 2 bars of 3G but when I lock 4G, easily get full bars.

Yes, Rochester (thank god) is starting to get a plethora of LTE coverage but again, it's about 5 blocks away from my house right now and when I do go to the covered areas I am lucky if I get a lock then I drive out of it.

And I try my hardest to map the LTE on sensorly but sometimes when I am connected sensorly doesn't get a ping. Then two blocks later it drops. So I know and understand it's still a few months away from being solid. I am just happy to see progress!!

  6. I think I am going to quit sprint if we don't get LTE soon. My contract is almost up and AT&T have LTE T-Mobile has HSPA+ and verizon has LTE, they seem more worth it. Maybe even straight talk.

I look at it this way, What works for you? What is better for your set up.

My opinion, has Sprint dropped the ball with "4G" technology, for sure (wimax now LTE and slooooow LTE roll out) I am still close to leaving with all the dropped calls my wife and I have but I look at it like this, my friends all have something else besides Sprint and they ALL have their faults. I have looked into options like Straight Talk and the like but the phones they offer are crap (I prefer high-end android) and with Sprint it's still unlimited data .... when I use it (usually on wi-fi cuz 3G sucks in Rochester)

But with the places I have been where there is LTE the calls have been perfect (and great signal WHEN it connects) and full bars while in those areas. I am hoping to get LTE in my house now within the next month (it's about five blocks away) so after the full LTE roll out I will make a decision then.

But good luck in whatever you choose and I understand your frustration!

  7. I have not been able to detect a LTE reading once with my LG Optimus G. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong when running Sensorly, but all I am able to see are 2G/3G points. I've even attempted running the LTE Discovery app that cycles Airplane mode in an attempt to force the radio to receive the LTE signal. Does anyone have any ideas on what else I can try?

I have a rooted HTC Evo and when LTE had started poping up in my area I'd try and got the same results as you but I just kept trying and finally it would connect.

Now I can go to the areas in town and get on pretty quick or just use LTE Discovery. Then I use sensorly to map it.

Keep trying, remember as far as I know LTE isn't "official" in MN. Cuz like tonight when I was out driving around it wouldn't connect. Yet 6 hours earlier in the day it had.

  8. Between two apps on my rooted EVO LTE I get no LTE connectivity on it. Settings are set to all networks, I then use either LTE connectivity app or Sensorly app. I am in Rochester and go down the streets (in town) that are purple on the sensorly app and don't get any LTE. I will try HYW 14 to Kasson tonight. If nothing I will then try either a new rom (AOSP is all I run) or a stock Rom to try over the weekend.

Just thought I'd toss in my 2 cents
