  1. For those experiencing low ear piece volume while on a call, just change the angle that you hold the device. It sounds silly, but it makes a big difference. The earpiece speaker just isn't located where the speaker grill makes you think it is. It's weird.

Anyway, I'm also having problems with my M8. My first device worked well for about 12 days. Good LTE speeds, good call quality, it was a good device. Then it stopped doing data so I called Sprint tech support and told me towers were being optimized but it should work out fine in a couple of days. They suggested switching to CMDA only. CDMA data also started being affected, and then voice capability just died. It was a shiny pretty brick.

I took the M8 to a store where they refused to help me because it was past the 14-day return window and I didn't have insurance. Well, I returned home, added insurance and returned to the store 2 days later. They determined it was defective and gave me a new one (after giving me a speech how they shouldn't do that but I lucked out they didn't have refurbished M8 - seriously Sprint? I just bought a phone, it doesn't work, and you feel the need to hand out a speech when giving me a replacement?). Well, this new M8 can do voice great, but it can't do data. Whether in LTE/CDMA or CDMA only mode, it just won't stay hooked up to data. In fact, I sought out help from Sprint.com chat for that (as I lacked another phone to use to call them) and they told me to do ##SCRTN# to reset it and after that it became a full brick since the device would not connect to data to reactivate. I had to borrow a phone to call them, explained to service what happened and they made me input ##311114#. That's kind of like a manual, data-less activation. Then it worked... for voice. It's still not doing data. And because the device worked at first, I didn't return it during the 14-day window. I feel like they pulled a bait and switch on me...

  2. I have an HTC One M8 that worked fine for two weeks and then suddenly couldn't hold on to LTE and would drop calls constantly. After various talks with Sprint reps one of them said that Spark devices will have problems in non-Spark areas. Is this true or was he making it up? It just makes me concerned that I bought a pretty paperweight. Anyway, I ended up reactivating my M7 and will see if they let me return it since it's past the 14 day return window.

  3. Yes, because there is a near tower that got upgraded in cesar gonzalez

Well, that tower upgrade worked magic. So how far along is NV in PR then? For the first time since when I had a Pre I can say that Sprint has great data service...

  4.

By the way without that site coverage in that area would be pretty horrible., As it is today.

Actually, it's pretty been pretty good coverage for me in that area for the past week. I work in the Monte Mall offices and have been running Sensorly to map the area since Monday.

  5. I'm in Puerto Rico and I can say when it's available, LTE is well worth the wait. Unfortunately, it seems I spend most of my time in areas that aren't ready yet and I may have awesome LTE coverage one day and EVDO the next. When there's full LTE (such as in my in-laws' go figure) the experience is amazing. I can watch my Ultraviolet videos with perfect performance over there!

  6. Seeing some gaps getting filled out in San Juan. I've been getting LTE in the Escorial area for a while but always lose it driving towards Rio Piedras when reaching the post office. This morning the LTE signal reached through the intersection with road 181 (el elevado de Trujillo Alto).

  7. So basically anything that's not officially announced is just undergoing testing? It's just that I get LTE at home and during my commute to work every day early in the morning but there is never any LTE available in any of the spots I've mapped in the morning when I drive back past 6PM. This is in Carretera 849 from Rio Piedras to Saint Just.

  8. Sprint can be such a tease! Noticed the 4G indicator come up on my EVO LTE while in a meeting but it went away before I could test it! This was in Plaza 650 building in Ave. Muñoz Rivera (Monte Mall). I swear if Sprint turns LTE on by my job I'll even subscribe to a tethering plan!

Hah! Don't get me started on la Milla de Oro! I work in Monte Mall and the LTE doesn't reach that far :(. They are also having problems with whatever site serves me while at work because I've had no data all day long so I contacted Sprint support about it and they told me there's an outage that they plan in having fixed by Saturday on that area.

  10. Sagrado Corazon, Part of hato rey, choliseo until roosevelt ave have 4g. Santurce, Viejo San Juan still dont have. Apparently ( from a friend of mine in a sprint store metro area) due to the government change no service has been able to be added from Parada 26 down. I live near pavia and have constant issues. Hell i even had 2 weeks last year where i had to go out, to the highway munoz rivera or towards PD leon, near bellas artes to call. I m hopin they can bring 4g to santurce.

Huh? What does a government change have to do the work being realized as far as network upgrades? Are they building new towers that need government permits?

Anyway, I was at a doctor's office in Auxilio Mutuo yesterday and I had LTE in the doctor's examination room, but 1x in the waiting room ugh.

I also get pretty good LTE at my in-laws in Guayama, go figure.

  11. Hi guys. I've just joined, though I've been following this site for quite a while.

Anyway, I've read, possibly on this thread, that using Netmonitor it's possible to tell if you've connected to an upgraded cell site based on the Network ID. NID 1 for old backhaul, NID 200 for the new backhaul. Anyway, there's a portion of Ave. Jesús T. Piñeiro in Hato Rey that I drive through every day that has an LTE signal but NID 1 instead of 200. I've never seen eHRPD reported on my cellphone on that area. Is that a sort of testing phase?
