  1. The long answer is in about 30 different places in our forums. But the short answer is three fold:

One, the WiMax network was supposed to much larger and robust to offload a lot of data off the 3G.

Two, Sprint was spending its network money on keeping Clearwire WiMax afloat and starting Network Vision.

Three, Sprint has been losing money for along time and did not have the resources to spend upgrading on a network they were just about to start dismantling with Network Vision improvements.

However, the end of the old 3G network is near. The new 3G Network and LTE network are performing wonderfully. It looks like Sprint will be starting, completing or well underway in every market in the country by mid year.

i get that, but i guess i dont understand why its gotten so abysmal. wimax is still around, and plenty of people still have wimax phones here. i understand that theyve not been putting any money into it, but its just been such a sharp dropoff that that didnt seem to be the sole reason
  2. my question is why has service gotten so terrible? sprint 3g used to consistently get me at least 1 down/0.5 up but since all of this nv talk speeds have slowed to a crawl over the past year, year and a half. at best it looks like they might have started to lay the groundwork for nv/lte last month so why the dramatic decline in service long before that?
