Bako really lit up today. Seen 6 new LTE towers. Really surprised at how fast it going.
-
Looks like it's moving along pretty quick for Bakersfield. Counting 4 LTE 1900 towers completed as of yesterday. Impressive.

Could be wrong but I'm fairly certain all the Bako towers are still on T1 so until I see diggin I am holding my breathe on the LTE. Was nice that 800 was launched though. :-)

I have a feeling were about to get a big update for lower central valley. Bakersfield in particular. ;-)
-
Closest Sprint tower to that location is Rosedale and Calloway.
-
I seen only one new lower central valley tower get 4g yesterday. Not in Bakersfield though. Think it was Lemoore if I remember correctly. C'mon Sprint...4G to bako!
-
Oh yeah, there's definitely hardware in the air down in BK. There's nobody down there that is neurotic about spotting, though, so the current upgrade density is unknown.
I was watching it eagerly for a while, all the towers I see in Bako have panels and RRUs. Wouldn't be surprised if it's 80% or more.

To put my 2 cents in, I would be very pleasantly surprised by the Feb 4th date for Bakersfield. I've been complaining to their twitter team about a tower outage near my work in Bakersfield and they confirmed via email that it was due to an antenna install by the contractor. Also informed that the NV upgrade in Bakersfield isn't supposed to completed until mid-year. I don't exactly know what "complete" means though. I'm optimistic that LTE will start to trickle into Bakersfield soon given that it finally made it's way to Delano a couple weeks ago. Still didn't stop me from getting a T-Mobile SIM to swap out to my Nexus 5. 2+ months on an outage is really unreasonable, even for Sprint.

Hey Lower Central Valley people! We have the LTE's in McFarland now! I just saw the track on the 99 on Sensorly! Someone go check it out and add to it! I'll be back through this weekend and add what I can!
It's likely coming from the tower in Delano. My wife works in Delano and gets pretty strong 4G signal as of 2 days ago. AFAIK, the tower in McFarland is still 3G.

It's just as likely to be February 31. A hard date like that is on a level of optimism that exceeds that of most religions.
Agree. Kinda surprised that someone is even providing a date unless they are just trying to get you out of the store/off the phone. 4G has been "scheduled" in the next 3 months in Bakersfield for the better part of the year.

Also based on Sensorly findings, there is LTE just south of Porterville on Highway 65. Anyone here map that recently? Oddly enough, it's on 65 and the tracks stop at Hesse Ave. Hmm.
Best guess is that it might be from a site which was upgraded on 12/413.

I wouldn't believe what a sprint rep tells you.
They are notorious for lying. Go by what the reports on this forum says. Much more accurate!
To their credit, they're not lying, just reading exactly what is found in their tools provided by Sprint. The trouble with that is
100%of the towers in the LCV have said 4G to be upgraded in the next 90 days since at least May.*edit - not 100% but the majority of towers*

So I call Sprint to see when they are going to flip the switch on 4g for our local tower which all work has been done and finished. I needed to do this because since the new hardware install (on the tower) the service (we are on the fringe) has been terrible at best when outside of my AirRave. (The panels used to point in our direction and now we are split by two panels) So the rep tell me that there has been absolutly NO work done on our tower and that there will not be any work done for 6 months! Um....no. I talked to the contractor myself and yes the work is done, and yes there is 800mhz, and yes the backhaul is complete and I have pictures to prove it. He went on to argue with me and then tells me to buy another AirRave for $100.00 to place on my grandmothers ranch home. I was in shock.
Not surprised by that, it's the same story in Bakersfield (minus the backhaul). I've been to the towers and actually seen the work being done yet in the CS tools (Glance) they all still say scheduled in the next 3 months.
-
Glad to hear about Fresno...but what about Bakersfield? Any news??
All the towers I've seen here in town have had the panels and RRUs replaced but since there is still no LTE signal I'm assuming no backhaul yet. Frustrating, and glance still says 4G in the next 3 months, which it's said for well over that time now. *grumble*

OK where is this Tower in Bakersfield? I did see this afternoon someone working on a tower yet did see who's there were 3 towers next to each other & have no clue if Sprint was 1 of them if any knows if it was Sprint please let me know thanx the street I saw it on was off of Brundage
This one is on Union Ave south of Brundage. There is another tower on Brundage near Oak that has new panels and RRUs but AFAIK no new cabinets.

LA04UB153 - Same tower that I've been spying on lately which has some new additions compared to the last time I visited.

Saw them up on the cherry picker this morning so I took some pictures at Union/Belle Terrace after work, not sure if they changed panels on this today or not...maybe someone more familiar with Samsung Equipment could enlighten us.

I regularly drive by quite a few Bakersfield towers on my way to and from the office but have seen no work and no signs of work either...UNTIL TODAY!!!
I was super excited to see a crew at the site near Union Ave north of Belle Terrace. Kinda confused as everything I've seen says this site is scheduled for work within the next 6 months and others were supposed to be sooner (within the next 90 days)? AFAIK, none in Bakersfield have been worked on but seems like any day now (cept maybe this one). -
Took a day trip to LA (mostly Westwood/UCLA area) and now more than ever I can't wait for Network Vision work to start in Bakersfield and Lower Central Valley market. Plus my 5yr old really enjoyed streaming cartoons on Netflix without any buffering . Gotta keep telling myself, patience...it will be so worth it when completed.

I actually saw someone up on a tower on Brundage in Bakersfield last week (aka, the 1 WiMax tower in town). Based on the pics I've seen of other Sprint towers I'm fairly certain that he was working on Sprint equipment, though could be another carrier; there are a lot of towers right there off the 58.

It's cool seeing the speedtests being posted however in my own personal experience I've yet to break 4Mbps. Not really a big deal since even with 1 bar of LTE it's been a fairly reliable connection all throughout town and will only get better the more towers go live.
