Got lte in Cedar Rapids

I got a notification on my phone (samsung s4) from sprint that took me to a sprint page saying 4TE has been rolled out, or at least it says they are working hard to provide it. I do not have any 4G connection yet (currently sitting off 16th Ave SW, but in a cement building, do have full 3G though).

I hope soon that would be awesome

So after learning from here that Mediacom was in charge of the back haul for Sprint in Cedar Rapids, I asked some of their employees today what the hold up was.

 

I was told they are doing back haul for Sprint, US Cellular, and some AT&T too.

 

I was told it is all in the ground already they are just waiting on instructions from Sprint on connecting to the point of service.

 

I am happy that 3G has improved a ton around town but, I am impatiently waiting for LTE

I am happy about backhaul being done but cant wait for lte

Nope it didnt work tried to switch using signal check pro and says ev-do

I went ehrpd to ev-do rev a. Is that a good sign of lte update to a tower

I talked with sprint they plan on working on lte in the next 3 months and finishing it up in the next 6 months. I was a little surprised by there time table thats a long time

Does that mean that gmo sites will be done last is that when we will get lte? That makes me wonder how Iowa as a whole will ever get done

i can think of 2 reasons.

 

1) outside of the major cities the majority of the east iowa towers are GMO sites which are low priority and probably haven't had backhaul run to them yet

 

2) inside the major cities they are probably waiting on backhaul. they can't turn on LTE without the proper backhaul, so if equipment has been installed for awhile and no LTE then its because of backhaul.

They have 66 percent network vision updates in east iowa but no lte updates is there a reason no lte has been done in this area

Any towers getting updated to LTE in East Iowa yet. I see all that is done is 3g update

I know but a rep said july 10th is the day they'll turnit on in our area
