  1. I like my current situation with Sprint. My two lines are in a full Framily. I have the 3GB upgrade on my line, my wife is fine with 1 GB. We don't need a huge bucket of data. My problem with the new plans was that for people with only a couple of lines and no need for a huge bucket of data, there is not a lot of savings. If you need a big bucket of data, they are great.

But I see that there are more announcements to come later in the week. The biggest issue with framily is your price goes up if you lose anybody. I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon, but it could. I would just like to see some good plans for single, 2 line customers who don't need a lot of data. $35-$40 a month for unlimited talk/text with 2-3GB data would be a good offering.

And I understand Sprint can't give away the farm to existing subs, but I think a nod to the customers that have stuck with them through the NV upgrade issues should get something. Maybe an early upgrade or $100 to a new device. Just something to say thanks would be a good gesture.

Right on, same value position we're in, threatened by these changes.

  2. That's right. Sprint sat down and decided, what is the best way to screw existing customers? That was their only intent. The rest of this stuff just fell into place after they bent over their customers, royally.

    *rolls eyes*

Whatever man, the chances of this working out well in mid term for a couple like my wife and I doesn't look promising. No ten people we know that want to share the same family bill.
  3. I don't think Framily plans will be rescinded. The status quo will likely be maintained. It just gets harder to recruit if your potential Framily members like other plans better.

Looks like it could turn out to be just another way for Sprint to screw their existing customers. And I just bought into Sprint stock again too. Not liking this approach.

  4. Unfortunately the issue is real. I switched to LTE/CDMA for my network mode and that seemed to help a bit but still not back to what it used to be before the update. It almost seems like they messed with the priority and have the phone connect to and stay on 3G if its any amount of a stronger signal than LTE.

Agreed, after the update I'm not connecting to LTE as well as before. This and not getting Wifi Calling are very disappointing. I haven't changed the timing in the LTE menu as another user in the thread did yet. Supposedly that helps

  5. I had the exact same touch screen issue, same spot. Had to send back to LG for repair under warranty. Sucks you have to cover the shipping costs to get it back to them, but still cheaper than Sprint insurance or in-store repair cost.

  6. I whole heartedly agree with this and have kept beating the G2 drum since day one.

Best phone I've had. Can't imagine anything is that much better. Especially after the KitKat upgrade

  7. I am having this same issue. I have only used Play Music once since the update and it was music pinned to the phone. This happens on at least half the songs. I would have to go to the next track to get it going again.

No solutions, but I share your pain. Was going to do a factory reset over the weekend and hate to hear that it did not help!

Same thing happening here on both wifi and cell networks. Not all the time but annoying. Sent feedback to Google about it. Unistalled app updates and did factory reset, but didn't help.

To all the haters: Maybe it was the force stopping of the google service framework to get the update that's causing it. NOOOOTTTT.

  8. It could be a lot of things because KitKat messed up all the battery reporting. Unless you're rooted they won't give enough detail to really break down where the problem app or process is anymore. Dissappointing

  9. I've never heard of a sideload requiring the steps the G2 required with this update. From all of my experience (and apparently most of the users on XDA from my reading) it works the first time 99% of the time. It is a fundamental feature of the Android development process and has been consistent in working since it was introduced in Android. Requiring three sideloads following each other is very bizarre for an update.

Just because you haven't seen the issues, doesn't mean there aren't any happening behind the scenes on your phone.

The article about the Google Engineer's post, with a link to source.

Well it DID take a bunch of extra steps and inconvenienced a lot of people. Just sayin, don't come all high and mighty next time.

  10. There are documented side effects with that method discussed by Google Android developers. I never recommend messing with system files, especially if you don't know everything they do. The GSF is a core system app that manages everything related to your devices UUID, among many other things. This is why it can cause the update to appear (GOTA servers use your UUID for update availability). It also will adversely affect any other application that utilizes your UUID, some of which simply will need some time to update to the new UUID, some may need to be uninstalled/reinstalled, some may require a complete factory reset. Every downloaded application is different, and there's no way to tell what resetting GSF will do for every person.

It is irresponsible to tell people to do so without properly educating them about the possible issues they may encounter by doing so. If after being educated (or ignoring it), people decide to anyway, that's on them. Not disclosing possible issues they may run into though is irresponsible.

And it wasn't irresponsible to tell people to sideload, when it ended up causing a boot loop?????

The GSF force stop has never had a history of any irreversible side effects that I've heard of or experienced with previous phones.

  11. Noticed there must have been bluetooth stack changes in this upgrade too. My car is connecting to the phone almost instantly now and displays all my song info perfectly, whereas before it would show "unknown" most of the time.

  12. Just to reiterate... if you are sideloading the update. YOU MUST DO IT THREE TIMES IN A ROW VIA ADB. The first two will stop and reboot to recovery automatically again, and the third will finally go all the way through.

I thought I had bricked my device but after doing that I still had all my info intact, no need to flash back and upgrade through again, that's a waste of time.

But you really dont have to sideload. Just use the Google Services Framework trick that a bunch of us used. Updated my wife's phone the same way last night when I got home from work. It just takes a couple tries for most.

  13. Doesn't look like it. How do we tell for sure? There were no new apps installed and the phone dialer is the same.

Tried installing the WiFi calling app from the Samsung phones and it wouldn't open.

  14. if you're not rooted the. Just go ahead and take it !

And please let me know if wifi calling is included

Don't think WIFI calling is in the update. There would be a new wifi calling app and there isn't.

  15. Don't have to wait that long.  Just try it one after another.  Took me about 4 or 5 tries before it finally popped up with the update. Downloading now.

I think there's a speed aspect to it as well. After force stop/ clear data, quickly get to the lg update screen to check. Took me 2 times

  16. Just a note for the adventurous and impatient type, do not try to adb side load the update. I downloaded the update zip from the google servers and then side loaded it in stock recovery and even on a stock unrooted ZVA build it bricked my phone. This happened to quite a few people apparently and luckily I can restore back to ZV7 when I get a chance. My data was all replaceable on my phone so it's not a big deal but just be patient!

If you can restore it, you're phone is not bricked  :)

  17. Force stopped Google services framework and deleted data twice, then quickly checked for manual update and got it!!!!! Amen. Would've ruined my productivity this afternoon.

Edit: Or just coincidence or small window that update worked.
