  1. A site in Brea that has had LTE for about a year has suddenly gone silent and EVDO speeds are less than 0.1 Mbps for two days now. Really hoping this means the final CDMA additions are being worked on...

Super frustrated with this.  The site went LTE live in 2/2013, I've had good strong LTE at my office from that day until about two or three weeks ago.  Now it's 3G that is almost unusable at < 0.1 MBps.  If it does connect to LTE, it's so weak that it almost immediately drops back to 3G.  Sometimes I even get only 1X.  I called Sprint, and of course they blamed my phone.  It was like pulling teeth to get them to submit a work ticket two weeks ago.  No improvement at all since then.  I think I'll call again today to get an update, who knows if it was ever submitted/worked.

  2. i dont know if anyone else pointed this out before or not, just couple days ago i made an observation. it seems like sprint is upgrading towers near the sprint stores first. i googled 'sprint' and mostly all sprint store locations are near every purple spots on sensorly maps. i checked here in OC near the orange block and surrounding sprint stores. seems to be consistent with couple areas i checked ( orlando, FL. San diego)

I'm sure there are all kinda of different patterns we could observe, but I think first and foremost it just boils down to availability - back haul, permits, and access. I doubt that if one or more sites in a particular market had all of these things ready, they would hold off on upgrading them so that they could do a site near a Sprint store first. That being said, I'm sure it's extremely frustrating for Sprint reps to try and explain that the service is good in the surrounding area, just not in their store yet.

  3. Got 4g down seal beach blvd to PCH last night around the weapons station, went south down PCH across the bridge, i live just south of the simple green building and of course as soon as i got to my driveway --back to 3g--but its close---but the difference is shocking, the pic is from the corner of PCH and Seal beach Blvd around 10 MG down, but from my balcony less then 1 mile away i have trouble just logging on to any data network and when it connects i get around 350 kbps-(3g)-that's sad--

    Still mapping

That's awesome. We'll probably have LTE at Harbor House an Daimon now! Ha.

  4. I had 3g signal but no voice or data service for about two hours last night in Tustin. Is that normal during tower upgrades?

    Sent from my Galaxy Nexus

To be honest, I'd say anything is normal during NV. Could be they were changing out backhaul, who knows. I've had 3G one day, roaming or no service the next, then LTE the day after that, all in my office at work. We just all have to be patient - it is coming. Just be glad we're not in Vegas. I've been here for the last few days - over the weekend I had absolutely no data connection at all, even with 3G and a -72 dB signal. Come Monday morning, I could use my phone again. The towers here must have weak capacity, and were overloaded when so many people were higher. It will get better in Vegas too - just takes time.

  5. Anyone else with Sprint with you having the same issue?

Getting strange connection problems today I didn't have yesterday. Normally have strong signal in our house with 3G, up to 2 Mbps, woke up today to almost no bars, and roaming. (Orange - Chapman and Jamboree.) Also, this morning in Brea near Birch and Valencia, got LTE at about 9:30am in an area of our building where I usually only get 3G, but by 10am it was gone. On the other side of the building, where I've had LTE since mid February, the LTE signal is so weak today it barely works. Keeps switching back to 3G.

All this just leads me to believe that something's up, as usual during NV. They're probably working on equipment all over the place. And I know I can't expect the LTE to be reliable yet, just because it's been on steadily for a few weeks. This is why it drives me crazy that people want to map coverage the second it gets turned on. Guess what? When they first turned on one of the sites near the 91 and 55, it got mapped all over the place, way up into Brea. Well, after they adjusted the site, and set the downtilt, it no longer broadcasts LTE signal that far. Not even close.

Expecting any of the LTE coverage to be strong, reliable, consistent, etc., would be like hopping in your car and taking it for a spin in the middle of getting your tires changed, and they've only changed two of the four. It ain't done yet.

  6. Well, map shows LAdera Ranch tower is completed to 3g/4g- anyone have an idea as to how quickly the LTE typically shows up once the towers are completed?

It can depend on a lot of things, and there's not really any "typical" timeframe between LTE accepted, and LTE live to customers. Sometimes, the LTE equipment can be installed and accepted, but the backhaul is not in place yet, etc., which can cause a big delay between LTE accepted and going live. There are some sites in OC that have been accepted for months, but no one has been able to connect to them as of yet. And then there are others that have gone live before they even hit the map as LTE accepted. Once they do come on for testing for the first time, as we're starting to see, they are often turned off again for a while before they go live for good. Sorry there's not a more specific answer. We just have to be patient, and be happy that the work is going on here.

  7. Well, regardless of where the actual OC boundary is, the Sprint LA Market comes up right against the 39 or Beach Blvd, whatever you call it, so a tower on that line could be broadcasting LTE into the OC market.

Now that you point out that the Sprint market boundary actually goes right up against Beach Blvd, I'm really convinced this is bleed-over from the LA market. Can you maybe post in the completed sites comments in the sponsor section which site you think it might be coming from?

  8.

So what sites are signed off in the OC? Cross streets cause if I'm in the area I would like to see the new setup so I can tell if a site has been upgraded when driving around.

There are currently two sites showing as having 4G accepted in OC. Their exact locations are only available in the sponsors section. If you become a sponsor, Robert will give you access to the completed sites map. I highly recommend it.
