Why do you all think Sprint hasn't officially announced OC as an upcoming launch area yet?

Anyone else using an iPad for Sprint? It amazes me how much more powerful the antennae for the iPad mini is, versus the antennae in the iPhone 5. In Irvine I seem to hold on to a workable LTE signal on the iPad mini, more so than the iPhone. It's great! Until I realize that my data plan on the iPad is finite ;( But all in all happy to see Sprint working on the Network here.

Yeah it's off limits to customers as of right now ;(
What's up with the UCI tower? I thought that would have been mapped more by now- did it shut off?
Hang In there!

Today I got a pretty decent LTE signal in Newport Coast. It felt amazing it was totally unexpected. However, sadly the LTE signal is complelty gone ;( Why Sprint ? Why!?
Is there a tower around here that is getting LTE occasionally broadcasted that doesn't show on the map?

Hey OC Sprint users!
I just took a look at the updated NV maps for Orange County in the sponsors section. What a huge jump in the number of updated sites! Way to go Sprint and Alcatel Lucent! I imagine that a NV 3G site is convertible to LTE as well? Isn't that the main selling point of NV, to have cell sites that can host multiple wireless generations/wavelengths? I have a feeling LTE is coming soon... Just a hunch;)

I'm not sure what you're asking in your first question.
However, I can answer the second. We do not get notifications of when sites commence work. Our members provide that information from field observations. And occasionally, we will get some regional information from sources. But our In Progress sites listed on our maps are far from comprehensive. There are far more In Progress.
As for completed sites, we do get consistent information on those. We get lists directly from Sprint corporate sources every week of all the sites passed inspection and accepted from OEM's the previous week. We plot these on our NV Sites Complete maps weekly in our Sponsor section.

Oh and anyone planning on possibly giving Blackberry another chance? The Q10 actually seems pretty sweet!

Does S4GRU know what Sprint marketing might plan to announce in the future? I assume it's obvious since one can predict this by observing all the work that is done. But can we make an assumption even before heavy deployment starts?
Also, is it possible that some sites might go-live/commence work, without being reported to S4GRU ?
Thanks!

1 is better than none. At least they are climbing towers!
Agreed!

Only one tower in all of Orange county? The running list says were at 8%
I think that percentage refers to both the 3G and 4G upgrades. The 8% accounts for the Network Vision equipment completed in Orange County, over the number of total sites in the market. So hopefully Alcatel Lucent accelerates deployment. If you have waited to get LTE since sprint announced plans to roll it out (a year ago @ CES 2012), I'm sure we all can wait a few more months.

This is a rant. You're violating our posting guidelines. You're comparing Verizon's new LTE network to Sprint's legacy network. Work just started in the Orange County market. If Sprint doesn't meet your needs, then go. However, no more ranting here, please.

Understood. Sorry about that ;(

It's basically February and we only have one LTE tower in the entire county of Orange?

Sometimes I wonder why I even stick with Sprint, but I finally realized that us Sprint customers have it okay, unlimited data, decent plans, decent customer service. My Brother has the iPhone 5 on Verizon and he already went over his allotted 2GB of data. When I use his phone it's amazing fast, reliable and he never has to ask himself if he is connected to a legacy or a NV tower. It must be nice..... on the other hand, Verizon is a huge rip off cash cow of a company so let's just stop there. I appreciate Sprint's focus now on its network and customer experience. Most of my Family had Sprint at some point and jumped ship to Verizon. Sadly because of Sprint's lackluster network here in OC. I can't blame them. Some days I feel stupid for renewing my contract with Sprint and not going to another carrier, and somedays I have hope that a day will come when I won't be embarrassed to have Sprint as my provider anymore. The Speeds in Costa Mesa, CA and Irvine are beyond pathetic. Even my friends on T-Mobile never have a problem even if it's "fake 4G" at least it works and is there. S4GRU is my only source for Evidence of Advancements for Sprint. I want Sprint to succeed for some reason, I don't know why I just do. I Thank S4GRU for giving us hope in our battle against the telecom crisis in America. Long live S4GRU! Any signs of LTE here in OC anyone?

Does anyone have any idea when Sprint will be getting LTE in Orange County? If I recall correctly 1st LTE sites were supposed to start in November. Nothing as of yet. Maybe Alcatel Lucent has been busy allocating resources to its other markets hit by Sandy? I hope not.

What's going on with the network here in Newport? I was getting NV 3G speeds and for the past two days now I can barely get a decent signal where I usually get full bars at my house.
From 1.48MBps to 0.02MBps? Perhaps LTE will finally find a place to settle here. It's about time:)
