  1. I was out driving two days ago with the latest beta.  Worked really well, no stale info as far as I could see.  I was experiencing stale data up until the time you forced the option on for Android 10.  Prior to that it didn't seem like it had much of an effect.

Thanks for the info.. unfortunately it does seem to be a change in Android 10. I'm trying to see if there's anything I can do about it. What device do you have? I don't experience it with my Pixel 3 or Pixel 4.

If it helps I experience it with a Pixel 3. Some items update without others (the carrier aggregation will update but everything else won't sometimes).

  3. I'm having a strange issue that just started happening 1-2 weeks ago.  I have a Pixel XL (1st gen), and as I move around the city (walking, car, bus, el, etc.) I will lose LTE data -- the signal strength bars will be just an empty outline.  A few seconds later, it'll be full strength but roaming with an "R" next to it, then empty outline again.  Then it will come back up full strength LTE.  This repeats frequently-- every 1-2 minutes.  It doesn't seem to be an issue when I'm stationary at home or at work.
After performing all self-troubleshooting I could (remove/clean/reseat SIM card, reset network settings, *#*#SCRTN#*#*, factory reset entire device, etc.) I contacted Sprint for assistance last night.  I was transferred to level 2 tech support in OKC.
The tech said that it was because there were so many magic boxes that have come online in my area, and that's straining the network; she said all of the cells around me were "2.5g, slow data only, with the nearest full LTE tower 2+ miles away", and when I clarified-- 2.5 GHz LTE or truly 2.5 G data speeds, she said the latter.  That doesn't sound right to me-- I've never had issues like this anywhere in the city, and this was happening to me all over.  Edgewater, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, even on the south side along the Dan Ryan.  But, isn't happening anywhere else outside the city.  Was in Central Illinois all weekend and didn't have a single issue once I got out of Chicagoland.
I also did a search online, and found some people complaining about something similar back in 2016 in Chicago and Indy, but nothing in the last 1.5 years.  It's just strange this started happening, and I am not sure if the tech support person I spoke with either fully understood the issue or provided me with the correct answer.  She basically said, "I'll put in a ticket, but there's nothing else we can do right now."
After having experienced this for almost 2 weeks, I'm wondering if there is value in trying to call back and speak with someone else for a second opinion.  Could an influx of new magic boxes really be causing this problem for me?  And am I the only one experiencing this?
Are you experiencing these issues in the suburbs too?

  5. It's so strange how differently the rsrq and rsrp are calculated. I have never seen, at least on the Android phones I have owned an rsrp less than -128db. If it's that low usually my phone gives up and switches to evdo.

  6. My wife and I have been using HTC phones since the EVO 4g. I had a short stint with the Nexus 5 between the HTC 7 and 8. When htc upgraded the 10 to Nougat we suddenly had horrible battery life. It got so bad that we ended up forking out the money for two pixel 2 phones.

The speakers on this phone are what should have been in the HTC 10.

  7. Tong Boy- Take a pic will you? And give me a location. When I get back in town I'll check it out.
I will the next time I can walk out of my house without freezing to death.

It is right off Pyott road between Oak street and McPhee. It's on a power pole on the east side of Pyott.

  8. Will Small Cells be spreading more as well? I see other markets like Columbus and Cincinnati with lots of Air Harmony installs.
I have one that was fired up a month ago down the street from me in Lake in the Hills. I'm sure more are coming.

  9. My home button has been intermittently going off and on for the last day. At first it wouldn't respond at all and I finally got it to work by booting it into the diagnostic startup screen, then booting normally. Now every once in a while it just doesn't respond at all for min at a time. Anyone else come across anything like that?
I'm pretty late replying to this, but the htc 10 had a similar problem and the workaround was to disable the mysprint app.

  10. Yes that is correct. All the htc phones i have had would reboot if there was something new applied to the data profile. However, now, with profile updates they reboot each and every time regardless of new entries. That is what i was attempting to point out.

I see what you are talking now. It's rebooting every time. I just ran the profile update manually twice and it rebooted both times.

  11. Yes so this latest firmware/software requires a reboot after updating the policy unlike before. This is probably a good idea, I know most other sprint phones have been forcing reboot since the beginning. I also noticed that the profile update no longer will flip you back to lte/cmda if you have set your mobile connection to cdma, gsm, auto, etc.

I don't think this is a new thing. I have had phones reboot before on a profile update. I think it depends on what part of the profile is being updated.

I agree though, this is the first time I have seen it happen multiple times in a week on a forced update.

  12. Is there any way to transfer blackberry contacts and sms to One M10? It seems htc sync manager can't do this.

I assume your talking about blackberry OS and not their Android blackberries right?

Can you sync your BlackBerry contacts with Google or export them to Outlook? The only way to do that is sync them with an online service or export and import. It has been a while since I had a blackberry but I remember the process being pretty simple.

I don't think there was any way to back up sms messages except to other blackberries. I actually don't think I brought mine over when I switched.

  13. I'm more interested in hearing if the 3G drops that have plagued us are still alive and well or finally have been abolished with some good optimization.

I assume your talking about the issue a lot of us had a while ago where LTE would stop and you would get forced to EVDO? I haven't had one of those in months.

  14. This ones worse:

IDK what the deal is with that center rack, I see a few towers around with those kinds of setups still. IDK if it's a WISP (do they even have setups like that?) or if it's from a defunct carrier.

Those remind me of some of the US cellular setups we had around here in the north eastern Illinois area. A single tiny antenna per sector.
