  1. So i have found a particular problem with the antenna on the GS3. after watching a dissasembly video i noticed that the antenna goes up around the volum rocker so i just did a test. over and over again. here are my findings.

Holding the phone in my right hand i get around -102 to 104db. Turning the phone on its side so the volume rocker is facing up it almost instantly drops down to -92db. likewise turning the phone back up quickly sees the signal go back to -102 -104.

When i hold the phone on the side and do a 3G speed test i get better ping times and i almost double my download speed from around 500Kbps to 1000Kbps. Upload speed goes up as well but not as much as the download speed.

    has anyone else noticed this?

I am still waiting on the GS3 Vs Evo4GLte review. i really want to see how the signal stack.

  2. Well i went in to my local sprint store to check out the demo units and i must say THEY ARE UNGODLY AWESOME! i asked how many they had in back due to the fact that they just released and the guy said they had like 6 or 7 in stock.

I tell you what when they say video adds 10 pounds they are right! when i held the GS3 in my hand for the first time i was like UGHHHH (jizz in my pants) its so thin and so light compared to how people make it look in video reviews. the phone itself was so fast switching between apps compared to my old Zio i almost melted my brain. nothing lagged NOTHING! even closing out apps and re starting them there was no wait time what so ever.

over all if i were a reviewer i would say this phone was AMAZING and that if you didnt get it you might have some sort of brain tumor or something!

BTW the screen also made me go UHGHHHH (jizz in my pants) a 2nd time. clearly this phone is amazing and for 199 i am really considering paying off the rest of my contract and getting this phone.

Though im not sure if it would be better to wait 4 months so i can get $150 on a new to year contract.

  3. If they have the same phone available in stock (and they keep refurbs long after EOL in many cases), then you will get the same device. If they are out of stock, they will replace it with one they deem the best equitable or better device that they have in inventory.

yes i do understand that all im saying is would i still get the $150 upgrade with a new two year contract even with this different phone?

  4. Well i made a pretty hardcore rant about my phone and service but i guess it was to.....angry? so it got deleted. no problem no problem ill just keep this post straight to the point.

    now on to the post!

Well to make the story short i broke my phone. i thought it was done for but i called the line holder and it turns out that recently they upgraded all lines with TEP and my phone was also covered. so i went ahead and filed my claim and paid $100 for a replacement phone (sanyo zio).

yeah i though $100 was alot but the phone has $150 towards an upgrade in 4 months so i was like CRAP will they take a broken phone? probbly not so i just went ahead and paid for the replacement.

So my main question is. will doing this interfear with my Upgrade?

Also i would like to note that i placed the order on the first of this month (sunday) and today (the 2nd) i have not recieved a tracking number for my phone and i dont think my credit card has been charged.

I would also like to note than on the sprint website it explicitly stated that the Sanyo Zio was not covered under TEP but when i called Asurion they said i would be able to get a replacement (so i placed my order)

so uhh i guess there is like 2 or 3 questions here. just awnser in any order if you can. thanks.

Yes i understand that but what about getting a different phone as a replacement? yes i know it will be the same model but it will not be the same phone i got at the end of 2010.

I think activation of the new/refurb phone may be a problem........

  6. Well even though my last post seemed to be withing the topic guidelines (rulz) it seems to be gone.

So on another note let me just state what i have now found out.

I have just found out that my phone has TEP and i talked to the line holder and called the replacement place and paid a hundred dollars for my replacement.

my only question is why did i halfto pay so much for my phone when its over 2 years old and was only $200 with no contract. (i paid $100 for the replacement) BTW with 4 months left on my contract.

The line holder just told me to pay for a replacement rather than check to see how much it would be to just pay to end my contract.

  7. I would never have bought a phone like that. However, I'd kill for a McDouble right now.

But...i didnt pay for this phone. it was free with a 2 yr contract. when i got it the only other cool phone for sprint was like the EVO or something and it was either 199 or 299 with a 2 year contract and my parents wouldnt have paid for it.

  8. Your upgrade is still the same, they are just promoting the fact that they will pay you for your old phone... up to 300 bucks.

Or, maybe your eligible now? lol

I highly doubt i would get more than a McDouble for my phone. after all it was a free phone. (and it SUCKSSSS) i think they stopped selling it like a month after i got mine.

  9. Well before when i would send a text to 1311 it used to say i could upgrade at year one then two with a new 2 year plan. now i know they changed it and then i got

you will get $150 in savings on a new phone plus promotions

now i JUST re texted 1311 and got

"you are eligible for 2yr Agr savings on a new phone plus sell us your old phone for up to $300 at a sprint store"

So will i still get 150 for my phone when i upgrade or will i get shafted?

  10. Well in lima ohio i have speed tests on 3G of an average of 1.2Mbps down and 600kbps up day or night though the ping varies from 150-500 the speeds seem to stay constant. though i think its because less people in my area use sprint the speed is nice when im in the city.

in and around Cleveland with my phone on the sprint network i usually get around 700Kbps down and 300-600 kbps upload so i dont know why your speeds are so bad in that area.

  11. The Sprint site network.sprint.com only shows towers that have recently received or in the near future will receive temporary performance upgrades in advance of Network Vision. So it does not show all their sites. Not even close.

I have access to a database that includes all Sprint Network Vision sites. The information I provide came directly from Sprint and not a 3rd party website. S4GRU has posted many interactive site maps in our Sponsor section. And more are added every few days.

so then how much dose it cost to become a member? is it like a monthly thing or once i pay im a full member forever?

  12. Sorry, I don't know how I missed this post. I assume you are referring to the Sprint site in Spencerville, Ohio based on your profile.

Below I have posted pics of where the Sprint site is on the North side of Spencerville. It looks like in the sat photo, that it's the same place that you took a picture of. If the yellow marker in the map below is in the same spot as the tower in your picture, than yes, you were looking at a Sprint site.

WOW thats a sprint tower!? I didnt know that! no the tower is down near 117 AKA Spencerville road.

that tower as the picture shows is right next to the road and i could probbly get right next to it if i wanted to. as a matter of fact. i think i might take a tirip if a few minutes to take a look at it.

On a side note how did you know that was a sprint tower? if you go to sprint's website and look at the local towers none of the towers near my town show up.

  13. Here is a pic of the NV installed tower In Hutchinson, KS the middle antenna will be on all NV sites.

You mean the little round one or the Triangle one facing the camera most?

this is good to know but from the pics i took there is no way to tell oter than the fact that i could have taken a speed test but forgot to do. i usually get around 1Mbps with full bars so i doubt its NV just really under used because in my area everyone has verizon.

  14. Here is a post i took in the middle of the night about half a mile from a tower

    157630428.png

Notice it says Distance ~100 miles now instead of 300 miles

I just took this speed test today at while at Mc Donalds now im about .2 miles from the tower near the same location as the first test

    158219211.png

What you will notice is again it says Distance is ~300 miles but the biggest thing is it says 11AM and 126MS. This is on 3G and alot of people were out. in my area pretty much everyone hates sprint because no one lives in the small city where the signal is actually good they just live around it. and around it the signal is crap. so everyone has Verizon. this in turn gets you great 3G speed when in the city.

ill try and get another one at about 3 or 4 PM today to see how it compares.
