  1. Does anyone have an idea when Frederick city area will get LTE? I have been impressed how quickly the signal strength has improved over here on Crestwood Blvd. Somewhere near Bentz Street and Trail Avenue I think there was a WiMax tower, I'd guess that would be an easy upgrade???

  2. Its nice to see that I am getting 2-3 bars of Sprint LTE when I step out of my office that's on Crestwood and Buckeystown pike. Wonder where the towers are, since I sit buy a window and it only connects to 3G service, or what band this might be that they are turning on around the area.

  3. Well slightly good news to report in Frederick. I was coming home past the Harry Grove stadium last night and noticed LTE service, about 2-3 bars worth. It stayed connected until I just reached the school for the deaf and switched back to 3G service.

However didn't switch over to LTE when I drove past there to drop my kids off at school this morning.

  4. This seems like a familiar post I am about to make, but we are a day away from July and still no LTE in Frederick. However some recent threads from Sprint Customer care makes a comment of upgrades ARE now scheduled for Frederick for sometime. I realize they can't commit to a time frame.

I thought maybe I read (or was dreaming) that the Frederick city council was a potential road block in this very long process??

I made a post a while back that i hit over 1 meg through put with 3G service and 2 bars of service.... That experience has never returned. Is it safe to assume this might help support the notion that they are ACTUALLY doing something in the area and that service fluctuations are normal with said service enhancements?

I dunno... I hope I am not trolling, but nicely complaining about this extended waiting time for LTE service in 21701.

  5. Just yesterday in Frederick, in the middle of my house on the Sprint 3G with 2 bars,I ran a speed test and shocked and chagrined I pulled 1.44 Mbps down and 0.57 Mbps up with a ping of 75 ms....

Typical speeds are around .3 kpbs download with a 900-1000 ms ping response...

Still not LTE in site for Frederick City area, but much improved.

  6. Maybe they heard gold was there. In all seriousness though, I'd be shocked if there was a fiber drop somewhere closer to the mall. Then again I live in my urban bubble.

Thats right outside of my work. I noticed that for a few days and they have flags that go up crestwood blvd past my work and onto the next intersection. I can tell you there is major bandwidth there at least what we have plus other connections.

  7. Any chance you can head downtown to see if any activity has occurred?

You asking me about Frederick? If so that could be possible, just if a permit was issued would it be a little quick for any activity to occur? I drive home down N Market street and it would be just a side loop around the block.

  8. Well it looks like hope is on the way. A permit was issued on 2/11 (App #: BP-14-00365) by the City for 30 W Patrick. This straggler also includes some Microwave antennas, so hope is on the way for a quick LTE deployment in the immediate downtown.

Well shoot that does sound very promising! :)

  9. Amen to that. I am going to spending more time out there for my sister's wedding. Without giving too much detail they should be able to fire up LTE pretty quickly. I highly recommend upgrading to a sponsor and you can see what I mean.

Just sent a donation and included username... ;)

  10. Frederick should come online (4G) shortly according to Sprint. May have nothing to do with it, but 3G in Frederick is almost unusable for me. It's not that Sprint customers in Frederick just WANT 4G, I can safely say that we NEED it.

Oh yeah, the 3G is dial up like in places with a 1000ms ping times in some places trying to do a speedtest. Got plenty of signal just need something to back it up with!

  11. Seeing abnormal speeds in my house in rockville can that mean something good usually I get very slow speeds but I can surf the web no problem but know nothing can that mean something is going on?

I have noticed in downtown Frederick that the 3G has definitely improved over what it normally is. But seems like the LTE roll out in Gaithersburg will end in Frederick and probably wont be till Christmas 2013 if I am lucky. Man I hate waiting.

  12. We have a core member from Waynesboro who spends a lot of time in Hagerstown. He has reported 30Mbps+ speeds in areas with strong signals. If you never get speeds above 8Mbps anywhere around H-town regardless of signal strength, then you may have a problem with your device.

Exactly I ran a speedtest in H Town near the outlets driving by at 65 mph and pulled 22mbps download without breaking a sweat. Just need these people to get closer to Frederick and fill us in!! :(
