When I was there last July, LTE was almost unusable in the areas on the strip that I frequent. I had far better results when I switched to 3G only. So if its gotten worse, I might be in for a struggle again
-
With LTE still hit or miss on the strip, would it be better to just turn off LTE and use 3G? Or is that just dumb? lol
I just need to check emails and occasionally social media. I won't be streaming or downloading anything.

I stayed in the Palazzo and went back and forth between Palazzo and Sands Convention Center. I believe Sands has a DAS as I got great B41 coverage most of the time. Except the meeting room I was in. I went back and forth between B25 and 3G in the meeting room however back to strong B41 coverage in the main halls.
Last week in Halls A & B, I had a strong B41 connection but it was slow, almost unusable. I had better speeds turning my phone to 3G.

Which convention? I was just there for a convention and heading back there in 2 weeks for another one.
IPCPR in July

Thats good to hear. I'll be there for a convention in 2 months
-
I'll be there in two weeks at the Venetian and Sands Convention Center. I know in the casino floor it will be all 3G when I was there last.
How was it in the Sands CC?

Whats the eCSFB, Anyone care to explain?
It stands for enhanced circuit switch fallback. For phones with one radio, it needs it to trigger your phone to switch back to 1x for calls or texts when on LTE. I'm sure you can get a better explanation from someone more knowledgeable about this.
The area around my house had problems with eCSFB for months. A lot of calls wouldn't go through (in or out) and some texts were super delayed unless I manually put my phone in cdma mode.

Progress seems to have slowed on Oahu

Atleast for the most part they seem to have fixed the eCSFB problems

looks good, get that Maui map purple on sensorly

I don't think you can map with iOS
-
There still seems to be a CSFB/eCSFB issue here. About once a week I won't be able to get calls and text are super delayed until I turn LTE off.
-
Yeah, for the most part the network is pretty solid. I will still sometimes not get calls and once in a while texts will be super delayed

Do you use Google Voice integration?
No
-
Pretty sure HD voice is available on the whole network.
Not in Hawaii lol.

In shocked there's no free wifi.
I mean with their profit margins being a gazillion percent…
When McDonald's can give you 0.5mbps wifi for free butc casino can't… you've learned true meaning of greed
MGM hotels have free wifi in the public areas. Unsecured though.

B26 will not get into the casinos, except near a roof or windows. The things in casino construction that block B25 also will block B26. It will just travel a few feet further. It will help in hotel towers, but not on casino floors much. DAS is the only solution inside casinos. Or possibly other small cell solutions.

What band(s) does the DAS typically broadcast at?

Oahu has five b41 issued permits. Maybe they are grabbing the permits only when the backhaul is in place.
I'm pretty sure they're doing work without issued permits. The tower closest to my house has B41 active with no permit issued.

Thanks for the information. How and where do you find this information?
Take a look at the map bbspot created in the sponsor section

Most have "approved to issue". Is that different than actually issued? How can we tell the difference?
Yes, what 808Bill said is correct. HI03XC393 is an example of "approved to issue" and HI03XC351 is an example of actually issused.
-
Still no B41 yet? Most sites on Oahu have an approved permit.
However, no new permit applications in the past few weeks.
But only a couple sites have permits actually issued. I've seen work done without a permit issued before, but if caught there is a significant fine for commercial work done without one.

I'm curious how Sensorly detects which provider you have, is by the PLMN ID? If so they need to add 312530 for Sprint as well. I have not been able to map LTE for weeks now.
Edit: Just to update, I took a screenshot of Sensorly under the "Details" page and this is what it shows.
Mine has looked like that for about a month. Still hasn't been fixed.
-
Works for me too, but I haven't been able to map anything the past few weeks. The carrier field in the "Details" part in the app is blank for me.

some more permits got issued on Oahu. Updated my map.
Thanks. Although they technically were approved, not issued. The city can sometimes be notoriously slow between approving and issuing permits.
On another note, the tower closest to my house had a permit issued Mar 10, 2014 for B25. Inspection May '14 - Work not started, Inspection Oct '14 - Work not started. Sad panda
