  1. Take this for what it's worth but I've been having a lot of data issues in Lynchburg for the last week or so.  I have a lot of custom ROM's so I thought it had something to do with that.  Then several others in my family with Sprint mentioned they were having issues.  I also came across someone else with Sprint that said their data was not working.

Makes me wonder if some upgrades are gearing up to launch.....

  2. The LTE 800 in Farmville was really nice when I was passing through.  It's the last island of LTE I see before getting to my parents' house.

That said, Farmville/Prince Edward County could really use some more locations from Sprint.  I haven't been into Wal-Mart since switching to Sprint but I would be very surprised if the LTE held up in there.  The American Tower near the school is an ideal location to get into Wal-Mart.  I wonder if that tower would get a usable signal down to Hampden-Sydney.

Here's hoping the nTelos footprint gets it soon.  I hope they also add some towers once they get LTE up and going on the existing network.  Lest I sound like a broken record, Willis Mountain could use one, for example.

Is this a Sprint owned tower or Ntelos?  I didn't have time to do a signal check only a speed check.

  3. The sound of chatter is starting to go up in nTelos land. Maybe all the rumors are true? It has to happen sometime, so seems like we may finally be nearing LTE in nTelos-land for Sprint customers.

Ntelos is 100% live here in Lynchburg. Just used my buddies phone on Ntelos and it's not bad.  With that said, wouldn't the previous agreements between Sprint/Ntelos still stand? I read a few people on here talking about needing a new agreement but I thought they already did that for LTE in Ntelos land.  I'm praying they just need trying to activate everything and then it'll be Sprint's turn. Not sure I'll be able to live with the idea of knowing Ntelos FINALLY did something but we wont have it until another year. :(

Edit: When I say 100% live I realize that could be confused with everything is live.  I only mean at one tower is live around Liberty University.

  4. A buddy of mine is w/ nTelos here in Lynchburg and says he's seen LTE pop on and off a couple of times (very short intervals) over the last few weeks.  Odd to me since I haven't seen any other mention of it.  If he wasn't a IT Dev I would have thought he just didn't know what he was talking about....has anyone else seen flickers around the Roanoke/Lynchburg/Cville market?

  5. Haven't kept up much since moving to Cricket but just for giggles I talked to a Sprint rep at the mall in Morgantown. For the first time ever I feel like I wasn't having smoke blown up my butt by a sales rep. I asked him if Sprint will ever get LTE in Morgantown. His response was they during their weekly sales meeting the reps were informed that Morgantown would not have LTE until at least January 2016! He almost seemed embarrassed to even tell me that.

For me the Cricket switch has been great. It's not unlimited but it's 10GB per line for $55 each. That's cheaper than my Sero lines were.

Unbelievable that Sprint would allow this to happen. If that date is indeed true that means they will be at least 3 years behind ATT, Verizon, and USCC in my area.

Same here.  I can stomach 3 years behind VZ & ATT (well...kinda but not really) but US Cellular?  Come on man!  You mean to tell me the farmers have LTE on their tractors in the middle of po-dunk and I can't get it on Sprint?  SMH

  6. I can't even put to words how disappointing this is, nobody here cares about my sob story & I get that :)  Been with Sprint since PCS days and have had seriously rough speeds for the last 2-3 years while everyone else is blowing past them.  The news of the nTelos LTE agreement kept me hanging on for 2014...I honestly don't think I can make it through another year.  I really hope to get a glimmer of hope before the end of 2014.  Really makes me sad because I actually love Sprint as a company...I tend to love the underdog (or have a really sick fetish with pain and torture...TBD).

  7. This really sucks for western VA customers too.  At least for now..... we have been promised all year that 70% of ntelosland would have 4g by the end of 2014.... Now it will be 50% with 4g by the end of 2015?????? Thats just ridiculous...

I literally talked a friend of ours to bring 5 lines from VZ over to Sprint just a few days ago...he's now a Sprint customer.  We're in the Lynchburg market and they joined with the expectations of getting LTE in 2014.  Now I'm guessing it may not even be 2015?  Am I correct by this assumption.  I need to tell them to jump ship if not...

  8. Lol. "All around you". I'm with ya.

I didn't even read that...what an awful title and would be funny if it wasnt me in the epicenter.  Sprint needs some serious help with their communication and I've been saying this well before the largest penalty ever handed out by the FCC for improper communications just a few days ago.

  9. Someone might have to correct me, but I don't think that lynchburg is even native Sprint territory. I am seeing no upgrades to anything ever in that area. It's not even showing that sprint has sites there....

Correct I believe we use Ntelos towers.  So I guess I should be searching for Ntelos upgrades but I read somewhere that Sprint users cant use their LTE...so they have me all confused.

Their partnership with Shentel I was hoping would do something since that's an ISP in this region (and my current one) but it's been years and I haven't seen much of any progress at least LTE wise.

  10. Gotcha. Yeh, they sent out an email  a while back which kinda confused half the country saying that upgrades are either coming in the next "month" or upgrades are coming in the next "Few months." I got it too in Orlando, and we have been launched for a while, even though its been pretty stagnant since launch date up until a few weeks ago.

    What city are you in?

Lynchburg, VA.  I'd take 3G upgrades at this point but very odd to get an email about LTE....I've heard of the SMS alerts being wrong but didn't know it was now a problem for emails.

  11. What kind of speeds are you expecting. Let me tell you from first hand experience. Sites with upgraded backhaul and 3g upgrades have very fast speeds...compared to what they used to be. Don't expect Tmobile and ATT like "3g" speeds because that is impossible.

Really I was not intending for this to be about the speeds and rather why am I receiving emails about LTE in my area (received a text a few months ago) and can't find my city mentioned anywhere regarding upgrades.

  12. Yeah, that is kind of what I figured. I would think that Roanoke would be high on the priority list for Ntelos 4G upgrades though. It seems foggy at best on whether or not Sprint customers will immediately see the benefits of that upgrade, but it would be a start.

Same thing happened to you happened to me in Lynchburg.  Friend got the text but I didnt or my wife.  I can't find any information out there about potential upgrades either so I continue to have little hope.  I really hoped something would actually happen for us with the Shentel partnership since we're in their region but I dont see any activity on that either.  Our 3G speeds are horrific so I'd love to see something done soon.
