  1. Not sure if this has been posted before, but a little over a week ago i stopped by a sprint store and talked to the rep about the Evo having issues connecting to LTE. He looked up the issue and confirmed that Sprint/HTC are aware of the issue and that there will be a fix in the next update. I took a picture of his screen...

  2. I'm kind of surprised that the Edens and Kennedy aren't filled in on Sensorly. I would have thought that those highways would have LTE (based on Completed Sites map) and people running the app.

    --Edit--

Taking a second look at the completed sites map I guess it is only 2 sites that likely hit the highway in those areas so depending on how far the distance it travels it probably isn't that surprising.

I commute daily on the Edens from the South Loop to the north shore. It's true that only a small stretch just west of Winnetka on the Edens has LTE. However, just a few months ago 3G was so bad that I couldn't stream Spotify/Pandora. Now they're streaming great on 3g with just a few hiccups near the Circle interchange and the Edens junction. That to me is more important than LTE.

  3. Looks like somebody on Sensorly got LTE on the Kennedy/Dan Ryan between Ohio and Roosevelt. Wonder what tower was broadcasting LTE in the Loop or West Loop.

Oh wow, that's my neck of the woods. It's probably the UIC/University Village tower. It's too bad my Evo wouldn't pick that up unless I airplane cycle the phone. =(

  4. I live out in the west burbs and have increasingly been running into LTE without cycling through airplane mode to see it. I have usually been within a mile of each tower that I get LTE connectivity so signal strength\distance may be why you have to switch between airplane mode so much. Considering I used to get squat not too long ago I feel that great progress has been made out here.

Interesting. Perhaps the Evo's LTE connection threshold is set too high? I say that because as soon I would cycle through airplane mode and get an LTE signal, I would perform speed tests resulting in at least the 3-4Mbps down range. The Evo should be connecting sooner if it can attain those speeds. IMO, 3-4Mbps is more than usable.

  5. I was just on 59 at portillos didn't even check for 4g cause I'm sick switching to airplane mode all day on my evo. It makes trying to map wth sensorly a pain I'm the ass. I got my evo posted on Craigslist right now!

    This!

I was out in the far west burbs this weekend and was mapping LTE with Sensorly but I had to keep cycling through airplane mode on my Evo to get it to pick up LTE where I knew there was LTE! What a PITA and major disappointment! I hope there's an update for the Evo soon to correct this.
