Saw this today while driving inbound on the Kennedy expressway near Division. Please tell me those are Sprints NV panels =)

I'm kind of surprised that the Edens and Kennedy aren't filled in on Sensorly. I would have thought that those highways would have LTE (based on Completed Sites map) and people running the app.
--Edit--
Taking a second look at the completed sites map I guess it is only 2 sites that likely hit the highway in those areas so depending on how far the distance it travels it probably isn't that surprising.
I commute daily on the Edens from the South Loop to the north shore. It's true that only a small stretch just west of Winnetka on the Edens has LTE. However, just a few months ago 3G was so bad that I couldn't stream Spotify/Pandora. Now they're streaming great on 3g with just a few hiccups near the Circle interchange and the Edens junction. That to me is more important than LTE.

Looks like somebody on Sensorly got LTE on the Kennedy/Dan Ryan between Ohio and Roosevelt. Wonder what tower was broadcasting LTE in the Loop or West Loop.
Oh wow, that's my neck of the woods. It's probably the UIC/University Village tower. It's too bad my Evo wouldn't pick that up unless I airplane cycle the phone. =(

Got the following speeds up by the Great Lakes Naval training center. Was just a few hundred yards from the tower and my Evo didn't pick up LTE until I cycled airplane mode. This is BS and it needs to be addressed very soon!!!!

I live out in the west burbs and have increasingly been running into LTE without cycling through airplane mode to see it. I have usually been within a mile of each tower that I get LTE connectivity so signal strength\distance may be why you have to switch between airplane mode so much. Considering I used to get squat not too long ago I feel that great progress has been made out here.
Interesting. Perhaps the Evo's LTE connection threshold is set too high? I say that because as soon I would cycle through airplane mode and get an LTE signal, I would perform speed tests resulting in at least the 3-4Mbps down range. The Evo should be connecting sooner if it can attain those speeds. IMO, 3-4Mbps is more than usable.

I was just on 59 at portillos didn't even check for 4g cause I'm sick switching to airplane mode all day on my evo. It makes trying to map wth sensorly a pain I'm the ass. I got my evo posted on Craigslist right now!
This!
I was out in the far west burbs this weekend and was mapping LTE with Sensorly but I had to keep cycling through airplane mode on my Evo to get it to pick up LTE where I knew there was LTE! What a PITA and major disappointment! I hope there's an update for the Evo soon to correct this.

Found the first LTE blip near The Loop. Just south of The Loop in Lake Meadows, just east of U.S. Cellular Field: http://sensorly.com/fullscreen/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint#q=chicago, illinois

Sweet! I'm just 2 miles north of that blip!
I'll be heading to the far west suburbs today and I'll be running Sensorly all day in hopes of reporting some new spots.

I was in Batavia, IL yesterday for a 5k and there was plenty of LTE. My fastest speedtest was achieved at the Costco parking lot in St. Charles.

I'm getting eHRPD in the south loop but the speeds are meh.
HTC EVO lte connection issues
in HTC
Posted
Not sure if this has been posted before, but a little over a week ago i stopped by a sprint store and talked to the rep about the Evo having issues connecting to LTE. He looked up the issue and confirmed that Sprint/HTC are aware of the issue and that there will be a fix in the next update. I took a picture of his screen...
