My EVO has a hard time acquiring LTE and keeping it as well.

Thanks for the clarification. I missed that. However, in our 9 device testing, the GS3 was right up there with the best radio performers. Including the Motorola Photon.

Did a search for post about the test. Cold you post a link? Thanks

If you only have a Evo LTE to use then you will think the LTE works just fine.
Compare it to another phone and you will see the issues.

That's exactly how I discovered my EVO had a problem!

been a while since i was down there. i should have snapped some pics earlier while i was at castroville airport. ip5 picked it up about half a mile away and held it the whole time. dang evo picked it up literally 5 minutes after we got to our hanger and if i walked or rode the dune buggy or 4wheeler 2 hangers over it would lose it.
Was in Castroville last weekend! Ip5 had lte driving most of the way up Hwy 90 and into town while EVO was 3g the entire way. That's when I realized there were many more active lte towers around SA then my EVO was connecting to.

Hey cbalter, King William Virginia?
I'm sorry. I'm in San Antonio Texas. King William is an old neighborhood south of downtown. And the Friendly Spot is a neighborhood patio/bar.

A couple more picture comparisons taken from friendly spot in king William. EVO never went into 4g even after restart. The speed test was started at the same time.

Also in SA. Speeds are great when my EVO can get LTE and now my fiance has the IP5 and she is constantly on the LTE band. Going to donate so I can track locations as well. Really trying to decide if the EVO can be saved by a software update.

Did you try cycling the EVO LTE through airplane mode to see if it would find LTE on a force scan? I do like how the iPhone 5 actually shows LTE signal strength in the indicator.

I did! It would grab 4g for a sec and then revert back to 3g. The ip5 went to 3g for a little bit but returned to LTE.

So we were out on the EZ's patio off of N. New Braunsfels in San Antonio and the ip5 was showing LTE and the EVO was still in 3g. Had brought my old EVO 3d to take a shot of both side by side but I had removed the memory card from the 3D. I got a screen shot from each as a consolation prize.

I can try to get some shots of both today when we are out and about. Have the EVO lte and ip5.

Tryed that edit this evening. Didn't help at all for me. Sat at the soccer field for an hour during my daughter's soccer practice. No LTE on my EVO. Her ip5 was on LTE the whole time.

Had same experience. Fiancé's ip5 had lte in places my evo has never found a signal. Her iPhone was also able to pick up lte while driving on the highway which my evo never does. I'm in San Antonio and after seeing how often the ip5 picks up lte I am impressed at how far along he NV rollout has progressed.

I agree. Just got an s3 on my account and it was getting 4g inside the house as soon as I brought it home. My EVO LTE has NEVER gotten 4g outside my house much less inside.
