No, I had to do something a little more extreme than that. Over in the LG Google Nexus 5 thread the discussion lately has been that installing a specific baseband version (M8974A-1.0.25.0.15) will automatically scan for B41 and ignore missing eCSFB paging information. That's a winning combination if you are trying to connect to B41 sites in San Francisco with a Nexus 5. You just can't make or receive phone calls and SMS's while you are connected to LTE.

Having said that, i'm shocked that people would even consider all that baseband work when one could easily achieve the same thing through *#*#4636#*#* and selecting 'LTE only' in the 'Phone Information' tab.

I dealt with missed calls, but once the text messaging became unreliable I had to revert back to the Sprint compatible radio settings...

So did you disable band 26 and make 41 a priority to connect?  I have both disabled right now because because I thought those two bands were only useful/active once spark goes live...

Checked on this thread the other night and decided to SignalCheck Pro the towers that provide service to me in the Twin Peaks area of SF where I work.  To my surprise, almost all are now switched to 1x800, but only eHRPD linked.  I know without a doubt that some of those towers broadcast LTE, but i'm willing to accept a slower data protocol for now in exchange for improved voice clarity and reliability.  

That's one thing I think about when switching which is why I haven't switched so already.  I would argue that although Sprint has service in all areas, at times it's as useful as having no service at all.  I was on a phone call from San Fran to the airport and was disconnected 4 times on 280/101.  Very frustrating...maybe I should go to the evil ATT.

Don't give up so fast.  Your call was dropped most likely because of Sprint's aggressive, yet seemingly random tower upgrades being performed in SF and its neighboring cities.  One of the drawbacks of the 'Network Vision' investment is the incompatibility of seamless call transfers from a cell tower with old equipment to one that has been upgraded.  Your call was most likely dropped from SF to Daly City and then from Daly City to South SF.  Just hang in there. In the end, we're still getting a much better bang for our buck than ATT subscribers.

I've been a loyal Sprint customer for over 12 years...er...let me rephrase that.  I've been a Sprint customer for over 12 years, and during this time i've experienced the good, bad, and ugly of their services.  I remember all of my friends envying my Samsung A900 (and A900M after) flip phone.  Not only did it have a groundbreaking high resolution display paired with a Qualcomm radio chipset capable of harnessing Sprint's new blazing fast 'EVDO rev.A' data protocol, it was the first flip phone to have an App Market, Sprint TV, and include a revolutionary new streaming music service called 'Pandora;' all packed into one of the thinnest flip phone packages ever seen (until the Motorola RAZR's debut).

Then everything changed when Cingular was swallowed up by AT&T.  With AT&T's monopolistic capital to throw at Cingular's infrastructure, the GSM spectrum exploded across the country, and by marketing the versatility of "SIM Cards," Sprint and Verizon promptly shat bricks.

I could continue to rant, but i'll spare you.

To summarize, I've been on the phone with Sprint's retention department over the years and every time they've made a conscious and notable effort to keep me as a customer.  In the years when I also had a second line with T-Mobile and AT&T, and subsequently cancelled my plans with them, their retentions departments could've give a rats åss if a customer was lost.

This tri-band torture is killing me as a resident of SF using a Nexus 5; frustrating to the point of finding myself considering reactivating my Galaxy Nexus and getting an AIO plan for my N5 until the towers are upgraded, but since Sprint has pulled weight to keep me as a customer, I will reciprocate by giving them 6 months to fix San Francisco before I throw in the towel.
