Holy Crap! Put my phone on its side with the kickstand, on a Phantom 2 Shell Box, on my workbench... And Boom!
Double my home internet and like 10X my upload!
Now I can never move my box or phone again.
*Edit* Spoke too soon.

Well got a few shots of the Loomis DelOro towers tonight. I am guessing the small but fat tower there is the 4G one or am I wrong? The way it looks to be pointing seems to match up to the way 4G is covered in town. What irks me is it reaches past the distance to my place in the directions it faces. If only it was a few more degrees to the right on the north side.
-
Ah that does make sense seeing as it is on the edge of the hill on the north side. That image was only a demonstration of range and not an accurate one as far as the circle goes. :/ The Loomis one is about right though. It doesn't cover to the Sierra College Blvd exit off the Freeway either. It goes about to the Horseshoe Bar rd exit then cuts off to 3G.
-
The wait continues. There is an AT&T tower literally a stones throw from my place which would be great for all the north Loomis area if they got some space on that.
The Park Dr. Tower has decent coverage so if it gets upgraded it may provide the coverage they need for now. I guess we will see. Sigh

Right now, the 4G coverage I am seeing seems to be a lot like these two images.
The Loomis coverage is didly squat, maybe because of the trees and the fact that the tower height doesn't reach above anything for the rest of the town. While the Rocklin one is on the edge of the hill and can cover nearly 10X the area.

The LTE got a ton better after the official Sense 5, 4.3 update was released. Before that I was in the same boat to hate the EVO LTE for all sorts of issue. The Unofficial Sense 5.5 4.3 update made it even better.
Whenever the device does have 4G service, the last bit of performance issues seems to vanish and everything is quick as heck. (Because almost all the WiFi in the area I have access too is only a hair faster then Sprint 3G.)
How much of a RF boost would going from the LTE to a LG G3 be? The one thing that does tie me to the LTE a bit longer is the fact that it does have 2 radios to be able to be on a call and do data while in either 3G or 4G.

So after a bit of experimenting, the Tower in Rocklin covers everything it seems, while the one in Loomis over the Football field feels like it isn't covering anything to the north at all as far as 4G. I was unable to get a 4G signal from it until I was near the High School itself off Taylor Road. Once I was there it latched on and I was able to get it a good distance up Swetzer, but I was unable to get anything right in town off the Freeway by Raleys or of course, my place.
Is it possible the tower isn't 100% yet for how short of range it is vs. the one in Rocklin, or even it being Directional to cover the Freeway and everything more southeast then northwest where it seems to have no range whatsoever? (I am directly .73Mile from the tower where I am over 1.5 from Park Dr. as the Crow flies.)
I seem to be sitting directly in between that tower and the one off Park Dr, in Rocklin which isn't 4G yet, but if the signal is anything to go by, I am never getting 4G.
It's not bad, but 4G needs so much more it seems.

Rocklin coverage seems good, (Cannot get it into the gym off of Granite Dr, however) but Loomis seems sparse even though it is on the Del Oro tower.
-
An EVO 4G LTE for now. Only LTE 1900 but I would think 1Mile would be ok since apparently the Rocklin tower at my work is >1M away if it isn't coming from Sierra College Campus itself.
Thinking of picking up a LG G3 soon though.
On the sponsor map, Is 3G/800/4G mean Spark? or just 3G800. Trying to get up to speed reading the info.
-
What is the range on LTE? I am less then 1Mile away line of sight from a newly lit tower and I am still stuck with 3G.
-
Wait, Loomis? LTE? I hope to God I live close enough to actually reach the LTE signal when that switch is flipped.
I have been downloading all the things with my LTE at work today. In the span of an hour I have nearly matched my 3G usage since the 4th lol.
Even the ~5Mbit it seems to be hovering around (anywhere from 3-15Mbit so far today) it is nicely better than my 3M capped at work, or 1.5M I get at home.
-
4G up in Rocklin. Not sure if the signal is coming from the College or elsewhere but I have it at work which is directly across from the Sierra Campus on Rocklin Rd.
-
So may I ask, is that LTE for Rocklin just one tower, or the entire town? And by LTE you mean Hardware and the switch is still off for the next 3 months+-?
-
Getting 2Mbit from Sierra College this morning on 3G... That is an improvement. Any word on any changes going on or is it just because Summer School classes are sort of out right now?
-
Was chilling in Roseville up Eureka last night and the 3G was great for streaming Youtube for a few clips I wanted to show, then the phone found a 4G signal that must have been from another tower much farther away and the streaming ability fell on its face lol.
I guess this may be a good reason no to have spotty 4G here and there, especially when the 3G is NV and actually good now.

I think this guys justifies a comped membership if anything to save him a little on gas.
-
They sent that to me a few month ago, still waiting. I wouldn't put any sort of timestamp on it but I'd say they think it will be better with 6 months... Yea.
-
Rocklin/Loomis.... One of these days.........
Also if anyone wants some Aerial Pics of certain towers, you could hit me up after next week.
-
It seems like 3G has gotten even slower in the Sac/Roseville/Rocklin area this last week or two. I usually can get a stable .35Mbit or so downloading, lately I am lucky to break past .15. :/
-
Is it reasonable to assume that most of the towers around and in Sacramento have their hardware already installed/upgraded, and it's all just the wait for backhaul?
If that is the case, time to go torch the AT&T building downtown.
-
I could live without LTE if only I got those NV 3G numbers.
2.5Mbit on 3G would be a dream. (and is a whole 1Mbit faster than my home itself...) I hate how everything for phones points to use WiFi for better internet!!!*** when uh, not all of us have actually better home internet wifi then our cell service.
-
Those NV3G speeds are nice. I could live with that alone after getting a taste in Carmel.
-
Was in Carmel for the weekend visiting a friend. That is the place to enjoy Sprint 3G and 4G at it's finest.
I was getting 3Mb/1Mb on 3G and in town a bit, I was getting 30Mbit/8mbit 4G... It was quite nice.
I reallllly hope something like that could be a thing here soon... guess it's a wait and see...
-
Rocklin and Loomis I feel wont get 4G till 2017, if ever..
Weird since they do have a college with the tower right on top of the Library here...

After getting a G3, I now can get LTE pretty easy at my house, work, and even the GYM. All speeds 3Mbit+ so I am happy.
