  1. I thought I replied earlier, but I don't see it now.. if you (or anyone else who connects to an Airave 4) could send a diagnostic report through SCP, I would appreciate it! I only need one report per Airave, but the more I get the quicker I can learn how to properly identify it in SCP. Please note on the report that it's an Airave 4 connection so I can keep track. Thanks!

Just sent one your way! If you need anything else, just let me know.

  2. Try dialing *99 and see if you hear the pre-recorded message ("You are now within Airave Coverage.").
I have tried that, but it says the feature code is not valid. Attached is a screenshot while on a call. I essentially have zero voice service from the macro network at my house and this is the only way to get any voice service, so it must be going through the Airave. Maybe the 4 doesn't give an audible signal like the older units do? On another note, does anybody know if there 4 will eventually support VoLTE?cb2d1113a393ca149aead1f707b45790.jpg

  3. Ah! Mine doesn't show it, so I'm going to have issues activating it today!
Mine is being shipped today, arriving tomorrow. I looked at my account and I already have an additional line that says Airave 4, so hopefully I'm good. Last time when I got the 3, it took days to get it working with multiple calls to Sprint, eventually replacing it as defective.

  4. Depends what phone you have. The 3 causes issues with VoLTE, and breaks incoming calls and SMS on eCSFB devices (Galaxy S6 era, maybe S7. Pixel 1. Etc). It used to work, but they broke something about a year ago and never fixed it. My guess is that whatever they did broke IMS. On my devices, it messes them up so bad that even when you leave Airave range, it will take 30 minutes or an airplane toggle to get calls and text working again. I ended up having to disable LTE on the Airave (via a firewall rule), leaving it CDMA only. Of course they broke it in what's seemingly the last update to the 3...

The 3 is end of life so won't be getting any fixes or updates. If you have no problems now, then you can keep it if you want. But guests might have issues, and if/when you have a VoLTE device it may cause problems as well. Basically you should eventually upgrade it, but if you aren't having problems there's no rush.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting. I do have an s8 in the Minneapolis market with VoLTE enabled and have been having issues with calls and texts while away from home. I just chalked it up to Sprint being Sprint or the s8 itself, but maybe this is causing my issues? Suppose it wouldn't hurt to swap it and try.

  5. Anybody take this january update with an airave 3 lte? My s8 refuses to stay connected to the lte side for more than a few seconds now, and prefers to stay on tmobile lte roaming (weak signal). It will even hang on tmobile when I drive away from my house for a few miles, before finally latching back onto sprint b41.

I've tried reprovisioning my phone, updated profile.....nothing seems to help. My wife's s9 doesn't have a problem connecting to it, so I know it's not the airave. Anybody have any more ideas?

    Thanks.

This screen shot shows what my phone has been doing. Sometimes it will show the VoLTE icon next to the signal bars, with the exclamation point. It will sit like that for about a minute and then pop over to 3g or tmobile roaming, both of which are very weak where I'm at. I've tried reprovisioning, even a factory reset, but nothing seems to matter. I've reset the airave, but I don't think that's the issue since my wife's phone connects just fine.

Is there anything I'm missing before I call sprint and have the dreaded 2 hour call where they go through all the standard stuff to try to fix it?f15f76aa02a422fa0158945011885d02.jpg

  7. Hmm. Maybe try swapping in the SIM from her S7 (or preferably another carrier if possible). Not sure if the phone being carrier locked will affect things. Like I said, sometimes the RCS data gets corrupted or something, and I tried clearing data for a lot of system and nonsystem apps to fix it, but the only way I got it resolved and force a refresh was putting in a different SIM (in my case an AT&T Freedompop SIM and a no longer active Indonesian SIM worked).
Sprint's RCS framework is still kind of flaky in my experience. It will randomly stop working for me and require a reboot. The same thing happens with family members with different devices.
I feel like you receiving a notification after every reboot isn't normal. You can try switching to Google Messenger and see if that fixes the issues on either of your devices.
Thanks, I'll give those a try. Can't try out her s7 sim as that had to get sent back to Sprint. I'll see if I have something else lying around to try.
