It only happens when you call another Sprint customer, and only under certain conditions.

The voice mail issue was fixed today. A tech called me to confirm everything was working. I tested it and it is.

May not be Upper Central Valley market related, but...

For at least the past 24 hours, calls from Sprint phone to Sprint phone when allowed to ring-no-answer will terminate to a "Message 6, Switch 386" recording which states "The long distance code you are using is invalid." If the call is actively rejected, the call is sent to voice mail, and if the call is from a non-Sprint phone, the call ia sent to voice mail. Only calls from Sprint phones not actively rejected go to the Message 6 recording instead of voice mail as it should.

I opened a service ticket on this issue: 19926098-0150308.

I don't have Signalcheck Pro and I don't know where the engineering screen is. I have a Note 4 and I seem to recall reading here once that I wasn't able to tell what band I'm on with this device. Maybe I misunderstood. If you can provide specific instruction for me, I'll do my best to follow and post what I can see.

Holy crap! 40 Mbps from the water tower in Mather!

I work just down the street from the water tower on Peter A. McCuen Blvd. in Rancho Cordova (see photos of that site). For months I've had killer LTE signal and performance while at work. Today it's 3G-ville here. I'm hoping this is a sign that they're optimizing that site.

I have the new Note 4 and I'm sitting in the FTB building just across Hwy 50 from Capital Christian Center where two towers are and I BARELY get a 3G data connection...

Run a speed test.

Ah, I think I get it now. I wrote about living in Natomas and you posted info about a site on Bell Avenue, perhaps thinking that was in Natomas. It isn't, but I appreciate the fact that the Bell Avenue site IS within the City of Sacramento and north of the American River, so my take-away is "good things are happening in the north area of the city right now."

No, they are in sync.

I've seen a lot of screen shots like that in recent days but I'm afraid I don't know what they mean. I'm not a total noob but it's kinda hard to keep up with some of the technical jargon in this thread -- lots of acronyms and obscure references and people being excited, so I tend to think "that's good news -- even though I don't really understand why (yet)." I work in IT but not telecom (although I worked in telecom back in the '90s).

Sure feels like a few years but yes all remaining Samsung clusters are being worked on now and will be done in the next 4-8 weeks.

I just re-upped my sponsorship after lapsing. While waiting for the permissions to kick in, I wondered if I could ask about Natomas progress. About a week and a half ago the estimate was "4 to 8 weeks" before the City of Sacramento sites would cluster launch. It appears work is progressing at an impressive pace right now -- do we think that estimate is still accurate?

Sure the Sac cluster will be launched soon, but it will take months, maybe years till we see PCS/SMR LTE and not drop down to 3G because random cell sites don't have backhaul. Forget about TD-LTE.

Your sarcastic "Correction: few years" comment was in response to someone asking about when the cluster launch was expected in the City of Sacramento. Those of us who have been following this thread closely for the past year understand that a cluster launch is not the end game but it is a significant milestone -- significant enough for me to plan on becoming a Sprint customer when that happens (and not a moment sooner), and significant enough for existing Sprint customers here to consider hanging on with Sprint with that milestone being within view. Will it be perfect and as good as Verizon on Day One of cluster launch? Of course not. I don't think most of us expect that. But with my clunker 3G Android 2.3.4 phone with insufficient memory to handle even basic use, I'm looking forward to getting a cutting edge device with WiFi calling on a decent network that will only get better with an unlimited data plan.

Hopefully the rest of the commentary in this thread is on point.

If that estimate is accurate (and you have been very understandably hesitant to quote timeframes before), that should coincide with what I am HOPING is the release and availability of a tri-band Samsung Note 4. :-)

I assume that "few years" remark is sarcasm. Be mindful that there's been a lot of confusion in this tread and someone may very well think that is literally true.

I just drove by a large crew working on the tower in the yard of the AT&T facility southeast of US-50 at Bradshaw Road. I don't have any idea of whether or not that is a Sprint tower or not. If interested I can try to snap a photo of it next time I go by.

This is all really encouraging news. I'm toying around with the idea of making the leap into Sprint service but I'm probably going to hold off a bit longer -- maybe a month or so when they'll release Note 4 so that I can choose between that and the Galaxy S5. If the Note 4 will be tri-band, that's very likely what I will get.

Also, rather than continuing to ask questions about each tower, I echo the recommendation to become a sponsor of this site. The folks who maintain the sponsor-only content work very hard at it, and it can be argued the more time they spend answering individual questions from folks that can be answered by looking at the map they maintain, the less time they can afford to maintain the map. There is no better source available for this information.

I live in North Natomas and I with Verizon right now. I've been waiting for Sprint to go live with LTE in Sacramento before making the jump.

I recently received an iPhone 4S from my employer. I chose Sprint as the carrier. I realize it's not an LTE phone. Signal quality is horrible at my house -- I think every call I have placed or received while at home has dropped. On my phone I see either one or two "dots" of signal strength while at home. (At work in Mather right across from the water tower site, I get 4 dots and have no problems with dropped calls there.) My nearest cell sites are Sleep Train Arena, the one near Fry's, Gateway Oaks, and West Sac and I'm not sure which one I'm connecting to. (Maybe that's my next homework assignment...?)

To be fair, Verizon isn't much better -- I have two "signal extenders" (micro sites) in my home that I believe most of my Verizon calls connect through, and even that isn't totally reliable.

What I would like to know is whether or not I should expect better phone reliability and signal quality after Sprint is done rolling out its upgrades in Sacramento, or at least "cluster launches" in this area.

Note that I plan to get a Samsung Galaxy S5 tri-band phone for personal use, if that matters for call quality and signal strength. I also have option to ditch the work iPhone and use my own device which I will only do if I can have unlimited data and calls which I'll get with Sprint if/when I make the jump.

I'm somewhat resigned to having the Sprint micro site at home when I switch to Sprint but that is not an option for me until I switch.

No. Not March. Not April. Not May. Most likely sometime mid to late summer. 

Is that due to the contractor being fired? I know early "hopes" had been a cluster launch in the city of Sacramento and surrounding communities months ago, but I'm guessing the contractor troubles have blown away that earliest guess...?

Lately I've been seeing a lot more from KJ construction, SLC, black dot wireless and streamline engineering and design. . .

I won't mention who, but I will say that the updates I have provided regarding possible time frames are a result of my communications with someone from one of those companies.

Continue to be annoyed.  Other than Band 41 LTE, there will not be much Sprint LTE inside Sacramento for the forseeable future.  Most of the LTE deployment will occur in the suburbs and exurbs.

Robert, could you elaborate some on why you say this? For those not so familiar with terms as "Band 41" and such, could you provide your opinion on why Sacramento (city of, I assume?) will not have much LTE "for the foreseeable future"?
