  1. Any day now the 4.4.4 (NJ1) will drop for the S5, so let's hope! They've also fixed a ton of Bluetooth issues reportedly so maybe they worked up the radios and reporting good.

sent from an underwater dust storm with my Sprint S5

Meh. This far along I wish they would just give us 5.0. Anything is better than nothing tho. I was super excited for the update until i realized that it was a minimal update for us GS5 guys. I am just used to Sprints abysmal update record when it comes to Samsung. Its the reason I got into romming my OG epic. I just with basebands were easier to modify beside picking from the "best of the bunch"

  2. I did a little pestering today. I found this new thing called twitter and it lets me bother companies about stuff  :rasp:

Anyway I was asking samsung support about a different problem when they asked if there was anything else they could help me with so since they asked, I figured I would bring up the PLMN and PCI issues with the samsung radio. They said they would 'definately forward' that information, especially after I mentioned that other manufacturers let apps have access to it. I know it probably wont go anywhere but it cant hurt to bring it up with them.

  3. I have shut off b41 on my phone for this reason alone. I was on 3g almost all the time but with it off i can at least keep a constant b25/26 connection. Ill turn it back on when they get this handoff issue fixed. I wonder what could be causing it because it seems to be everywhere. handoffs between b41 sites and sectors is seamless tho. I wonder what they need to fix because they launch these spark markets but you cant actually connect.  In Utah I cant connect unless I put it in LTE only mode but then I dont get calls/text obviously. This allows great handoffs to B25/26 as well but only in this mode.

  4. I rely on reports from users for most of the info on that chart; I was led to believe that the S5 was showing PCI, but that could be wrong. Samsung devices did not report any LTE cell identity information until these KitKat updates, so this is their first attempt at it. It's more likely to be a radio firmware issue than a SignalCheck issue; the app shows everything it can see. No PCI means it's not being given a valid one to display.

EDIT: I just looked at your diagnostic report; your S5's radio is not reporting a PCI, which is why SignalCheck has nothing to show you. Hopefully Samsung keeps moving in the right direction and gets this fixed; I will update the chart.

Ok thanks for checking into it!

  5. I do most of my work from my phone because I am usually not near my home or office while working. With music streaming and all of the web surfing I do plus occasional downloads I can push 10-15GB. Does that qualify as top 5%? I know several people on verizon who pay for 10GB plans and use every bit of it so I know I am not alone.

  6. I called CS to report my connectivity issues on both of my gs5s and they told me to take them both in to a sprint store and swap them out. They said there was an issue with them even tho it seems like its more of an eCSFB issue. Has anyone else had issues staying connected to b41?

  7. i wonder if some of that is the problem.... that there is other issues associated with these sites....and now that the group has left...we are waiting for them to return...  Though could they 3g accept it, if there were issues?? so now i am back to the back haul....because its 3g accepted...with still icky speeds...which leads to back haul....hummmmm maybe time to go floorguy some fiber teams  :ninja:  :ninja:  :ninja:  :ninja: though havent seen any out....maybe they are fair weather pullers

we have had pretty fair weather lately. Also keep in mind there have been 5 or 6 acceptances over the past week. In fact I do t think we have gone more than a week without at least one acceptance and most weeks have between 3-5. We would have been going nuts for these kinds of results last fall. Things really arent as bad as some of us may think. Sure your home/work/grocery store tower may not be live but there are a ton that are. Besides the general estimate for phase one of NV completion overall has been this summer and at a rate of averaging 5 sites per week we wont be too far off from that estimate.

  8. Since the membership has grown so much and people many people are subbed to dozens of topics I am wondering if its feasible to ad a tagging system similar to XDA that would allow people to tag a member when they may be needed for comment on a certain topic. I am really just bringing up the idea because it would convenient however has potential for abuse. Im sure @SRGRU would get pinged all the time along with some of the other members. On top of that Im no sure how hard it would be to integrate it into the system. Anyway I just thought I would bring it up and get some comments on it.

  9. These forums get indexed by Google. I wouldn't post your number in a public thread. You should probably either message it, or at a minimum post it in Sponsor sections that don't get indexed.Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I think its his business number so where I usually agree you generally dont want to post something like that publically, in this case its probably not a bad thing.

  10. ^^this. Although Layton is the farthest along out of Weber and Davis counties, there is still a long way to go. Unfortunately until a higher percentage of the sites are upgraded, everyone within range of that site is saying "ooo look LTE!" and running speed tests and other bandwidth intensive nonsense and bogging it down without any other sites to take over some of the load. Once the shine wears off of the LTE (we have gotten a huge wave of it in the last couple months) and more sites come online to balance the load things will improve a LOT. Try running a test during off hours in the night and see what you get. If you notice the upload is still pretty good during the day where the download is terrible because of everyone streaming videos and such.

Compared to other markets, Sprint has come a long way in Utah. Yes we had to wait for it but the overall situation is much better considering our LTE coverage is improving every week and 1x800 voice coverage nearing completion.  Some of the markets have better LTE coverage but no more than a handful of 1x800 sites state wide so they are still having trouble with calls.
