  1. If you do try it out, let us know how it turns out (good or bad).

Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4

Thanks to all for the help.  I've decided to keep my corporate issued Blackberry for another year.  We'll see where Sprint is a year from now but I just LOVE the physical keyboard and am willing to sacrifice the big screen and all else for that at this point.  It is also hard to go pay ~$80/mo. for something I currently get for free.  There aren't as many apps available but most apps I want/need I already have and most sites have decent mobile versions so no app is really required.  Blah blah blah, I guess I am just a cheapass!  I will certainly keep in tune with S4GRU as it is a wonderful community and report back if I ever switch carriers.  Thanks again.

  2. That is a nice review. Everything I have read and seen has pegged this phone as being pretty amazing. The screen looks so ridiculous and sharp throughout the review, I couldn't stop looking at it. I have been putting off stopping by the AT&T store so I don't get too excited and disappointed, but I may just have to. Just 5-6 weeks longer.. Why does that seem so impossibly far way?

great, now I want this phone

  3. I can really tell that arstechnica did not like LG's skin and they are not a big fan of Verizon...but I am curious why big red decided to butcher their version of a great phone with cheaper plastics, losing an entire speaker (and killing one of the unique features of the phone with its audio abilities) and giving customers a pink unicorn vomit menu skin.

I'm guessing Verizon did all that to fit in the exclusive wireless charging.  I have ruled out the G2 and, barring a tri-band miracle out of Sprint, I'm getting the Note 3 on AT&T

  4. I think it is reasonable for a consumer to expect to be able to use data indoors as there are many situations where you will not be at home or have access to wifi.

As regards triband, at least two possibilities present themselves.

1- this is a sku for regional cdma carriers who may have a roaming agreement with sprint and therefore need some of their bands rather than sprints actual sku.

2- this is sprints sku and it doesn't support triband either to reduce the cost, because it wanted the rf360 chip and they couldn't get the volume in time or because sprint didn't get satisfactory terms for it's own sku (again related to pricing).

Time will tell. I am not a fan of the secret squirrel approach, barring a miracle I am ordering the verizon note 3 later today. I think Sprints NV program is excellent and I look forward to using sprint in a couple of years time (when it actually gets close to being done in Hawai'i given the permits), but personally I'd rather not wait longer and Sprint hasn't made any noise about its plans (I still think Sprints a great carrier, this isn't an anti sprint rant :-) ).

I, too, am now considering sticking with AT&T and getting the Note 3 in the next couple weeks (barring a Sprint tri-band miracle) - ships 10/1 on AT&T so they don't have long!  I just want the phone to work inside and in crowded areas - speed is way down on the priority list.

  5. The Verizon version of the Note 3 is dual band LTE and supports BC4 (AWS) and BC13 (700 MHz).  There is no excuse not to include BC4 since Tmobile uses BC4 for their LTE.

FCC link to SM-N900V (Verizon variant)

    https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=608888&fcc_id=A3LSMN900V

Also if Sprint did add dual band LTE with B25 and B26 support, I would still give up SVLTE because as I said before coverage is more important to me than having the ability to surf and talk at the same time.

Does Verizon dual band trump Sprint tri band?  I live in Chicago and am not married to one carrier and want a Note 3 that will work in crowded areas, indoors, etc.  So, assuming the Sprint version is tri-band and the Verizon version is dual band, which do I go with?

  6. Craig, it just seems like nobody is happy and I don't want to regret choosing them.  So I figured I'd ask the forum if there are actually any happy customers.  I am on board with the thought process that it is improving daily but am I too early?  Also, it is less expensive than the others and has unlimited data which is a must since I'd be using it for corporate email (hundreds per day) and personal use.  I will check out Deval's post.  Thanks.
