Spoke with a customer service rep today about Kerman's tower and she said it is scheduled to be finished in July along with some of the other towers on the west side. Take the info for what it's worth. I'm just glad they are not finished with the Kerman tower because lately the service has not been good!

You don't seem to understand the bureaucratic red tape that carriers have to jump through in order to get permits for stuff like this. Many cities don't like cell towers because they are "grotesque" in visual appearance compared to a standard city skyline. In those cities, there is more red tape to fight with, and extra engineering that has to take place in order to secure the permits necessary. Take Henderson, NV for example. They hate cell towers, and many of them are "stealth" sites that have to be done a certain way, i.e. monopalm, monopine, "flagpole". So you see, Fresno is one of those picky cities, and as Oedipus has posted many pictures of, the RRU's are on racks by the equipment cabinets because of the extra expense of making fake trees bigger or flagpoles that can't fit the RRU's.
Yep, that's Fresno! We can have downtown continue to look like hell because of old laws, bridges from the freeways to roads going no where except to homeless encampments, prostitutes and their pimps taking over strips of motels, but HEAVEN FORBID WE HAVE "UGLY" LOOKING CELL TOWERS!!

Is Kerman an at&t landline service area?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
No. Kerman is serviced by Sebastian which is where our Sprint tower is at. I share in bjarabian's frustration. Service here is not very good right now and to see a new tower go up for a different carrier is disheartening. Still just waiting patiently.

Yea the "signal bloom" changed after they placed the new hardware. Where I live (between Biola and Kerman) we are getting the worst service ever because of the new alignment. We are now roaming constantly. Luckily the 800mhz will have a bigger throw distance and everything should work peachy when the new hardware is actually lit up. But until then I hope Sprint don't mind paying the roaming charges!
I spoke with a customer service rep and I told them about being affected by the update with slow data speeds and they said they would make note of it. I have no idea if that will change anything but we will see. I guess we all we have left to do is wait for the upgrade to finish. Great reporting as always bjarabian! Thanks!

That makes more sense, bjarabian. I guess I just got excited when I saw that our panels were getting exchanged. I noticed in the evenings on the 145, just south and north of Helm, I am starting to get a signal. I used to constantly roam in those areas. All in all, it is very exciting we are beginning to get this service upgrade here in the valley!

Sorry, but I don't understand what the Sprint Rep told you. Did they mean in 3 months they will be finished upgrading us to LTE or will it be 3 months before they increase the capacity on the tower?

Awesome news about Firebaugh and Mendota! Hope it gets turned on soon here in Kerman. The data speeds the past two weeks have been ridiculously slow! I hope it also takes care of the fact that our tower is overloaded too.

Woohoo! Wow, for once having Sebastian in town is paying off! Too bad I don't have an LTE phone yet, but hopefully reception and 3G will improve greatly. Great job reporting all of this bjarabian! I can't wait to at least experience some faster 3G speeds here in town!

Thanks Robert and MacinJosh for the encouragement. I think you're right. The lone 4g tower in Fresno at the 41 and 180 freeways is no longer giving out a signal. So maybe they are beginning work. Thanks again, I can't wait!

Ugghh! This is truly depressing. I live in the Lower Central Valley market and I see no signs of us getting LTE anytime soon. The two major cities in this market, Fresno and Bakersfield, got passed over for Wimax. I am just hoping when it is time for me to renew my contract next year there will be LTE here in the middle and lower sections of the San Joaquin Valley.

Just driving on the 99 in the south end of the valley, where LTE is available, the reception is great. I hope Kerman and the rest of Fresno will be just as good.
