  1. Do you live near another time zone? If you live close to a different time zone you can occasionally pick up from a tower in the next time zone which would change your time on the phone. Try turning off the setting for network time and see if the problem goes away

I live in Texas so timezone shouldn't be a factor. I forgot to mention that when I remove the setting for "Automatic Time and Timezone" the phone eventually selects them again on it's own. T though that was really strange because I should be able to set the system time myself and correct this issue but everytime I do it, it lasts for a few days and reverts back to Automatic Time.

  2. Howdy Y'all -

I have an issue that comes and goes with the system time on my GS3 and Note 2, I have also had friends over that had the same issue occur on their Sprint device. The problem started around 12/20/12 with the system clock (set to "from network" and network set time zone as well) being behind by 1 hour. That problem would come and go and I assumed it was an issue with the device so I did a hard reset. Then it came back, presented itself on my wife's Note 2, my Note 2 and various Sprint devices while at my home.

If I leave this area the issue eventually corrects itself and if I reboot outside of my home cell the problem is resolved. Recently I have had the clock go really haywire, showing not only the wrong time by 1-10 hours but the wrong date and year as well.

Obviously this impacts everything, calendar, meeting makers, email times, texts, alarms, etc. I have opened several network tickets with Sprint but they can't seem to identify the issue or correct it. I'm thinking if it was the tower then it should impact all users in my sector and Sprint is saying no other users have reported it.

My question is, when WiFi is enabled does the system time still come from the tower? BTW I do have an Airrave 2.5 but it has been unplugged for months do to the duplicate texts issue so it is not a factor. Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated.

  3. Just an FYI if you haven't wasted your money yet. The case is falling apart after very light use. The edge band around the cover is peeling off and the cover seems to be de-laminating. Save your money and buy something else. IMHO

  4. I might try that. On second thought, as soon as I learn how to root my phone and flash a workable ROM that will run Jelly Bean, I think I'd just rather do that. I don't imagine it will be long before that's possible (if it isn't already).

I know someone who had the same issue and it did correct it. In addition to the battery the phone was lagging really bad before he cleared the cache.

  5. My GSII never received the OTA push, no matter how many times I went into system update. So I downloaded it to an SD card and booted it up from there, forcing it to update manually. But now my phone is jacked up - it freezes constantly, especially when using Chrome. I don't know what's up with it but it's consistently laggy and frustrating where Gingerbread was smooth and quite responsive (and never once froze to my knowledge). Is there anyway to UNDO the ICS "update?"

If you go into the boot menu on start up (volume up + power) there is a way to reflash/ wipe partition cache. Try that

  6. I recently got the ICS on my Galaxy SII from Sprint and all the battery is now draining fast! I used to love it because it lasted so much longer than the EVO that I had before but now something is wrong..is anyone else having this issue?? I love the new ICS update but its killing my battery life.

Yes, had to re-calibrate the battery and now all is well.

  7. Since I live a few miles away from the closest LTE enabled tower I stayed in CDMA only mode, LTE mode was eating up power. The optimizer was also draining the battery before I received the update to PLG8.

Now the optimizer seems to work properly and the cell standby power drainage in LTE mode is mo better due to the threshold changes that were made.

  9. I have issues where it wont reconnect to a remembered network. For example....I walk to get the mail...lose connection...walk back to the house...3G has taken over....wifi is still on....wont reconnect. I have to turn wifi off, then back on again to reconnect. Sometimes have to forget the network and let the phone rediscover it all over again.

I am having this issue as well. The wifi is on but will not reconnect to the remembered network. I have had to reboot after trying to reconnect, disabling wifi, deselecting the optimizer, and it still wouldn't reconnect. I was 10 feet from the router so it was a strong signal. I was not having any issue prior to the last software update OTA.
  10. Is anyone else having problems with sound not playing over the speaker after disconnecting headphones...?

Yes, but when I wake up the screen it start playing. I think this may be by design

  11. The only disadvantage is possibly eHRPD connectivity sometimes brings faster speeds than EVDO, when the cause of the EVDO slow down is related to the MSC. Whereas the 4G core that eHRPD is connected to is free and clear and should not become a bottleneck for years.

eHRPD is disabled in CDMA only mode.
