  1. Why am I getting 3 different locations on the BSL , and what does that all mean ? 5y8y7e6a.jpg2usy3atu.jpgadamegur.jpg

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but looks like your phone is switching towers for you voice signal. I am supprised to see that the Harrison Ave. and Taylor Road towers are 1xRTT. I have been getting 800 voice off of both of those towers. Maybe they are still working on them.

  2. Could someone verify if this indeed is the site on Colerain? My phone latched on do this here in Covington. yjeba5u6.jpg

I can't confirm the site is indeed where it says, but if it is, that got to be close to 9 miles as the crow flies to downtown Covington. That would be great.

  3. Yes we need more recruits on the hunt for NV 1.0 completion. I've went as far west as I could to identify radios and since you're at that location (and could possibly search for others in your area if it isn't an inconvenience) help the Cincinnati/Dayton/KY identify these locations. I'm new just like yourself and you could be a great resource in the far west-side, please consider it.

As for your struggles, I've faced them with you brother... it's tough to get strong signal in the west-side, I'm more inside the city than your locale. But as you've noticed, great strides have been made and they are sweeping the city and soon our locale will be stronger. This is an exciting time to be with Sprint!

I have limited time during the week so searching around is not always possible. I have not sent any info in for the towers in my area, mostly because they are shown on the NV Sites Complete map as being either 3G/4G or 3G/800/4G accepted. I guess I just assumed that the info was somehow magically pulled out of the above mentioned map and inserted into the database/map for our area. Is that not correct? Anyway, if I happen upon a new location that is lit up with 4G I will be happy to pass the info on.

  4. Thanks, someone on here I think posted several days ago that when I go a mile up.the street, I may be getting a strong signal from the tower behind I think twin lantern on Harrison ave, and someone else mentioned about Mack firing up LTE on their tower ? I live in Mack, which is basically just off Bridgetown rd and powner road, just down from Kuliga park.....

Maybe I will fire up sensorly and do a mapping later this afternoon from my driveway to up the street a mile where I got a killer signal on LTE in the hattings supermarket parking lot couple days ago just to see where the cutoff point is From dark purple to the lightest shades of LTE.......I'm learning as I go with this .

That was me. So far I have gotten good speeds from the Twin Lanterns tower the Mack north tower at 5 points and the tower at Shady Lane and Bridgetown Road. My opinion concerning your seeming lack of signal is that like me you are unfortunately limited by terrain. The whole westside where we live is nothing but hills and trees and then more hills and trees. That takes a tole on the signal. I am almost exactly between the Twin Lanterns and Mack north towers and yet at home I rarely can get 4G in the house. Outside i can usually get 2 bars. My question to you is do you have wi-fi in your house? I do so I really don't give a hoot what my 4G signal strength is. I always use my wi-fi. I only care about 4G when I go someplace without wi-fi. Of course if you don't have wi-fi at home that is a different problem. But in either case, the overriding factor in our neighborhood is the terrain. Not much we can do about it short of moving.

  5. Thanks to all that replied to my last post. I was hoping it was as you described. I remember seeing a map on the site that showed all towers that were not being updated and as I recall there were none in the Cincinnati area.

On a side note, for you westsiders out there, I just layed a string of purple from Ebenezer and Werk, down to 5 points and out to Dog Trot then back to 5 points on Taylor without once dropping to 3G. Things are looking up in the West.

    Thanks afain all.

  6. Good questions. Accepted means Sprint has signed off on the site, so the particular upgrades needed for 3G or 4G are completed (respectively). Any accept activity reported means NV 1.0 equipment upgrade is complete. 4G is only band 25 (1900); bands 26 and 41 are reported in the premeir section.

So let me get this straight. Once a site has aquired a color (accepted) no further work is going to be performed. Therefor, any sites shown in red (3G accepted) will not be updated to LTE? Is that correct. Also sights shown as 800/*, what does the 800 stand for if not LTE 800?

  7. Could you please expand on what accepted means, for those of us (me) with less than a basic understanding. As an example, on the map those towers listed as accepted are mostly either 3G or 3G/4G. Does accepted mean that the upgrades are complete or does it mean that they are accepted as shown but there is further work to be completed. I ask because I thought the Cincinnati area, not market, was to to LTE 800/1900/2100. Does 3G/4G accepted cover all three bands?

  8. plasma1,

I hereby retract my previous comment. I parked in the Home City Ice lot on Bridgetown Road and got this :

    made5u4u.jpg

Then I went to Kuliga Park and got this:

    tunyve8y.jpg

Looks like they fired up LTE on the Mack tower since I was last there. Finally some more westside love.

  9. What's crazy is yesterday afternoon between 7 and 8 pm, my upload speeds were cranking a lot higher than my DL speeds, check these screenshots out and explain why that is ? uvy2e2eb.jpgjusejaty.jpg8aha7aqa.jpg

Take note of the time in the upper right hand corner, as well as the signal strength bars on the phone as well as the speed test data...

You may be picking up your LTE from the Harrison Ave. tower behind Twin Lanterns. If you are at 5 points you are about 2 miles from the Harrison Ave. tower. Been by the tower on Taylor Rd. a lot and never found any 4G.

  10. I can tell you it was Band 25.  The engineering screen will tell you.  Also, if you can get the GCI in SignalCheck Po, it can be a hint to which band.  As for the download speeds, I'm not sure what the max throughput is for the different bands.

+1. My phone only uses LTE band 25, reguardless of what the idiots at Motorola say. But that is another story.

  11. The Westside of Cincinnati from Werk & Glenway & down are seeing 4G LTE. I picked a few signs while shopping in the Western Hill Kroger as well as leaving to work this morning. I will be back down later this afternoon to get network speed tests and to map progress. If any one here lives in the West side of cincy, please help confirm this.

I was out today and like yesterday the Dent North tower at the Twin Lanterns is fired up. I also found the tower in Cheviot near St. Martin of Tours church also on LTE. That was a nice supprise. Mapped a lot today. How long does it usually take to show up on the maps?

  12. Some of this is starting to make a little sense. According to the LTE engineering screen the PLMN ID is 310120, which breaks down to a MCC of 310 (US) and a MNC of 120 (Sprint). OK good so far. The band #26 I will have to leave to those of you with infinitely more knowledge than I.

  13. When I connect to LTE I noticed that when using Signal Check Pro, under the LTE section it says Provider:Motorola (310000). I thought we were getting Samsung equipment in our market. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm basically ignorant about this kind of thing.

  14. Some good news for those of us on the west side of hamilton county, namely Dent, Bridgetown etc. Picked up LTE from the tower behind the Twin Lantern. Also have 1X800 which switches between that tower and the one on Taylor Road at five points. Layed down a nice patch of purple today. Also did a speedtest at the Lowe's, in sight of the tower. I got just shy of 20Mb down. Thats about 5 times better than my home connection. Things are starting to look up.
