  1. You got my Galaxy Mega a couple of days ago.

I have some concerns while playing with it hopefully S4GRU has some insight on the matter.  Keep in mind I live in Orange County, Southern California.

    1) I've noticed everytime the 4GLTE signal lights up, my phone signal bar drops to 1 bar.  While when the 3G signal lights up, the bar goes to a normal phone signal range.

    2) Lately people are unable to make direct calls to me.  I usually receive a voice mail inidicating the missed call.

I was hoping someone inside S4GRU can share some thoughts.  I haven't spoken to a Sprint representative as of yet as I entrust that S4GRU usually provides a direct answer.

  4. any idea on the "on contract" pricing on this yet for Sprint?  I think I might actually have my mom convinced this is her next phone (pending her trying it out in person for size reasons)... she is still rocking the original Galaxy (Epic) and about the only way she will give up her physical keyboard is to have a larger screen to type on...

No idea, but on a relative sense; amazon wireless has shown a tremendous drop in contract pricing for at&t.  I remember on its release the cost was $150.  The last time I've checked it went down to $99 for new contracts.

Does the HTC One Max make this phone obsolete? I guess it depends on pricing (IMO).  I'm gonna get one of the two (to go along with my LG G2).. I know that much.

One Max (high-end phablet) seems more comparable to the Note 3 (high-end phablet) rather than the Mega (mid-range phablet).

I know that Sprint announced it so it must be coming at some point in the future but I still don't get the timing of the phone releases on Sprint.  The Galaxy Mega 6.3 was announced back in June and the release of the device should have been at the latest in mid August.  Releasing in November and December especially with mid range specs is not a good way to sell this phone.  I feel that Sprint is dropping the ball on the timing on the release of the Galaxy Mega 6.3.  Even begs me to question on whether the GS4 mini will ever get released.  So far sales of the GS4 and HTC One mini have been pretty poor and I wouldn't be surprised if Sprint pulled the plug on the GS4 mini launch.

I concur.  THe Note 3 has stolen all the thunder from the Mega.  The Mega won't garner much hype as it will be release after the Note 3.  You can tell from the number of posts for the Note 3 forum out weights the number of posts for the Mega.

From a economics stand point, if the Mega gets less attention; sales won't be as high for the Mega.  Thus, a drop of price for the Mega.

  5. Oh has anyone have an idea of the off contract price of this phone? Ive seen international version go for around 450 or less. And the AT&T shows a 539 price off contract

Sounds about right.   Speaking of prices...Amazon Wireless starting selling the Mega for AT&T at $150.  Couple of weeks ago, it dropped to $130.  As of now, for new contracts the phone sells for $113 and for upgrades it's $125.

I'm sensing the lack of sales from other carriers may divert Sprint from selling the Mega.

Any who...anyone have more upbeat news about the Mega?

  6. Got to hold the phone today it feels nice. I could type one handed, so I think I would consider it given it is triband. I didnt really use it much, but did it have the lag like the original note had? That is my concern.

Did you tried it out at a AT&T or US Celluar store?  The latest news I heard about this phone is that the unstable country of Egpyt is getting it before Sprint customers.

  7. It's so quiet in here...must be all the humid / muggy weather we've been experiencing.

Just to report in.  I still have been experiencing 4G WiMax in the Garden Grove and Santa Ana region ranging from 0.8 mbps to 10 mbps.  I have no luck in the Irvine and Arcadia area.

Any luck with LTE users?  I'm looking into upgrading my phone to the Galaxy Mega which is uses LTE.

  8. EVO 3D user here.  After months with no 4G in sight, the weirdest thing happened two weeks ago; I’ve been receiving 4G WiMax feeds around Garden Grove and Santa Ana.  Especially around the Chapman / Brookhurst intersection point with Speedtest calling out 8Mbps and topping out at 12 Mbps.  If I’m getting these speeds with WiMax, I wonder how well a LTE phone will perform.

  9. EVO 3D user here that is due for an upgrade.  How is the LTE in orange county so far?  I've been battling with drop calls and super slow 3G network on my EVO 3D.  My guess is that I need to upgrade to a LTE phone, but before I do so; has the LTE service stablized?

I considering switching over to AT&T or Verizon if they're still working on upgrading the towers.
