  1. Based on todays 11.5 hour usage. Phone is definitely working better, at least the apps that i use frequently. As far as battery goes, i am left with 22% after 11.5 hour usuage. 2 gmail, 1 exchange emails synching heavily throughout the day. Watched video for about 2 hours. Game playing for 1.5 hours. And about 1 hour gps/map usage. I have to say i am more than pleased with the update.

I love how switching between app is so much quicker.

I just hope that this doesnt turn out like the last update. Things were great for me for first few weeks, and then i started having reboot issue.. keeping my fingers crossed.

  2. Hopefully our results will be better than some S5 owners are reporting (starting with noticeable loss in battery life)

Ive seen a lot of them reporting good result upon factory reset. It might not be an option for many people. But if you are having a lot of problems with it, maybe factory reset will resolve the issues. Just gotta wait and see.
  3. N. Korea is on the no Wi-Fi calling list - maybe your GPS thinks it is in the DMZ?

No. when i use locate me to enter the address, it gets the correct location from gps (Seoul).

I just found out that i am able to receive a call on wifi. But unable to make outbound call. Is there a certain dialing pattern im supposed to use when making a call on wifi from abroad?

  4. Doesn't the phone check to make sure you are within Sprint's territory before allowing you to make a call?

No. Sprint clearly states that international wifi calling being available here (south korea, not on unavail list). It does not require that the location have sprint service. Wifi calling is to use sprint service at a location where you have weak sprint signal or none at all.

They only have a list of countries where you are unable to use it. As far as activation, yes i have activated it abroad. I will call them up to find out if they can get this setup for me.

  5. I need help with wifi calling. I am abroad right now. And i have activated wifi calling on my account and have it correctly setup on my phone. I wven have the handset and signal level icon on left top of the screen. Whenever i try to make a call, as soon as click on dial button, call screen turns orange and "wifi call ended".

Any suggestion on how to get this to work?

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Is it always at that 1:28 mark? I've had video freezes on my mega but at different time indexes, never at the same spot. That is so strange.

    TS

    Yeah. Its every 1:28.

I have a similar issue that happens around the same time frame. Restarting the phone will temporarily fix it. I looked it up, and it seems that Galaxy S5 has had a similar issue since a youtube update that happened in July/August. People have a support ticket in with Youtube.

Ive read about the issue with S5. And even saw the report to google. it doesnt look too promising, as the first report was more than 6-7 months ago. And S5 users are still having the problem.
  7. That's why I asked, because that's been my experience as well.

In other words, it is completely useless and doesn't provide us any more information above the "LTE" indicator.

I hear you. Who knows, maybe sprint will make that designation once they deploy it to enough markets.

If you ask me, they should make it an indicator for band 41. As band 26 really doesnt differ that much from band 25.

  8. Question on youtube. Whenever i watch anything on youtube, @ 1:28 mark, the video freezes, but the sound continues to play. Only way to get the video to play again is to jump to different time, but it freezes again after 1:28. Has anyone experienced this?

  9. just wanted to chime in and say that for some reason, south station area speed dropped, since about two weeks ago.

It averaged between 0.8 - 1.5 but for last two weeks, the best Ive seen was 1.3, with average being around 0.5.

I wonder if this is due to them working on the towers.

Im going to guess that this is the tower I am connecting to @ south station:

    BS23XC744

    Sprint Market: Boston

    NV Complete: 3G/4G

    OEM: ALU

    RF Switch: BOS-WOBURN-MSC_1

    Any info on this???

  10. Robert,

Hello I am brand new to this forum. Supposedly Dallas Fort Worth is covered with 4G LTE and the Sprint map says so where I am located. I am not getting a 4G signal anywhere on my phone. What do I need to do to my Samsung Galaxy SIII to get it to recognize the 4G Signal? I went into the Internet Settings and found Mobile Network. I changed it to LTE/CDMA from the Factory CDMA setting but so far "no dice".

Is there an update or reset that you know of that I need to do to received the LTE signal?

Also how do I get a forum password to enter this Forum on http://s4gru.com/ind...sites-complete/

    Thank you

    Eugene

Aside from the update, you need to make sure your phone is in LTE mode as well.

If you haven’t changed this, the phone ships with CDMA only setting.

    Settings>More Settings>Mobile networks>Network mode>LTE/CDMA

After this, your phone will restart and find 4G LTE as long as you are within the covered area

  11. Samsung GS3 has the SAMOLED, a slightly smaller removable battery, and battery doesn't last as long.

I use GS3 daily, but I dont have any problem with the battery. I use the phone with wifi on all the time, sync 4 email address, text, phone calls, web surfing and on a 12 hour day, I am left with anywhere between 30-50% depending on how heavy the usage was.

With light usage, same setting: wifi emails not as much texting and calls; after 30 hours, my phone was sitting at 24%.

yup, as irev mentioned, distinct differences of the two are: 1. removable/non-removable battery

edited: sorry, evo lte does have micro sd slot, I wanted to mention the kickstand, not micro sd
