He added the protection plan because he knows he gets a commission adding it on........Wont matter if you cancel it later (although it might be a hassle)........Likewise, he signed you up for the 2GB plan to get further add to the commission.
Ha...So I went through a fiasco getting this thing added to my account because of my existing pre-order for my LG G2....I was at the Sprint store for 2 hours....Anyways, gotta tell you....I told him I wanted the 25MB Plan cause I have the Zing Hotspot. Rep tells me i HAVE to sign up for the Device Protection Plan ($13/Month) Plus forgoes telling me that he signed me up on the 2GB Plan ($15/Month) He did say I can drop the protection plan later, but Had to add it now because I cannot add it later if I want it....What a crock....LOL....

there were $6.02 of TAXES AND FEES on the $15/2GB plan. I just looked at my bill yesterday.
So its like $21 a month, at least in TN.
I like the tab, i'm just gonna pay it. At least we have 4GLTE here, and its nice to have data capability away from wifi.
I hate they are plopping a $1.00 911 fee on this plan.....its not even a freaking phone....... Sprint said take it up with the state of TN.... losing battle.
The monthly fee is not just the $15, additional fees are added, those fees that should be in the monthly fee and not added later.

I got the Overdrive Pro from them for $29.99 with 3GB for the first month. Only pulls 3G (no wimax here).
but its consistently been around 1 mbps...
I'm on the 2GB plan for $19.99.....I was going to use it as a hotspot for my tablet, but I got the Sprint tab 3 with 2Gb for $15, so I might keep the ODP and drop the plan to the 500mb for $3.99.

YOU CAN'T. you must buy their LTE device for $149.
Just spoke with FreedomPop. Supposedly, you cannot port a Sprint Novatel MiFi 500 TriBand hotspot over to them.
I only spoke with one CS Rep, so I might have been given incorrect information. -
The LTE freedompop spot is $149.00 as well, Gotta figure that into the cost!
I have the Overdrive pro from them. I only paid $29 for the device and that came with 3gb the first month.

Some Wal-Marts had this model on clearance for $149. they had three at the middle tennessee store....

The HOTSPOT function doesn't work unless you subscribed to it.. . .
I got one. Tablet seems a little buggy.. Hotspot function is available and works. I got the 15/month plan.... All in all a good cheap tablet. It's no note..

Just TURN OFF "mobile data" in the usage screen...
Dumb question... But is it "easy" to disable the cdma /lte radios?

The hotspot is $10 extra for 1GB. if you aren't subscribed to the hotspot capability, it will just close...
Hmm second time I tried to activate hotspot it told me I need a hotspot sub... :-(

Fees and taxes are the deal killer.........I just got my first invoice. $6.02 in TAXES!!! on the $15 plan.
What's worse, is they are tacking on a 911 fee for $1.00, and its a tablet.....
But I got the tablet for free, so i'm just going to pay the freaking taxes and enjoy the tablet!
BY THE WAY, the hotspot *IS* active on this phone, but if you didn't subscribe to hotspot capability, it will tell you, and it will close the app, so don't order thinking its got FREE hotspot, it doesn't!!!!!.. i think the hotspot adds 1GB capability for $10.

$700 phone?
Sprint, but partially on Ericsson and partially on back-haul providers. In the end it is just terribly frustrating to not be able to use a $700 phone without being in the area of wifi and at this moment and for the past couple of years, this is the case for the vast part of the Knoxville area.Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Looks I'll be hanging around a bit anyway. Hooked up my sister with a VICTORY 4G LTE. She's in Columbia/Spring Hill, and they've got adequate coverage for her needs! So if she runs into any issues with questions, i'll check here for some answers or updates!

Thanks Robert. I have enjoyed using the forum while I had my sprint phone.
Best of luck. Sprint is not the best network for every customer and it sounds like coverage is not what you need in your area.

I just went to AT&T yesterday as well. Signal and speed is good. Gave SPRINT a try. just not enough coverage down here in the Lewisburg area.....absolutely none in chapel hill, and none til you get near Eagleville, or down towards Columbia, or next to I65.
OOOH, and the sprint maps show Chapel Hill flooded with Sprint LTE! NOT!
Its been nice chatting with you guys, and I did enjoy the SENSORLY program. but this area needs vast improvement.
As of 7/14/13, WalMart yanked ALL Sprint Phones out of this market...

Well, let me update, Transferred everything over to the Galaxy S3. PATHETIC SPEEDS.
Now, mind you, this phone is connecting to the SAME TOWER it was when I had the Victory.
I'm suddenly on a new prefix (931-447-xxxx) instead of the number (931-371-2291) that I had earlier. Not sure why I couldn't keep the same number.
Anyways, NOW, My LTE never reaches over 10mbps (versus over 30.....not that I need that much speed...but why cripple my speed all the sudden)............My ip address is coming from DESTIN, FLA!!!!!!
Earlier, my IP address was coming from Shelbyville, TN (duh, I'm in TN, I should be routed from TN).
I know mobile broadband devices used something called a HA(home address). I wonder if I can get Sprint to reassign me a closer HA)??????
NOT HAPPY!

i was in Murfreesboro, TN just 2 days ago, and the 4G LTE never got over 3mbps......Pretty pathetic.
Just off Medical Center Parkway by BestBuy.
-
I sold my Galaxy VICTORY... Bought a GS3.... Hope it gets just as good as speeds as the Victory. I would assume
it has a similar radio.

My point was there is NO 30mbps connection available here other than Charter Communications....
Anyways, 30mbps connection on a cell phone is blazing!! (nice to have the speed but probably not necessary).
Uverse is not fiber to your home. It terminates with copper. Backhaul is fiber to the rru I believe.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2 -
how ironic would that be AT&T running fiber to a Sprint tower. the tower this sprint location shares with Verizon.
Even AT&T Uverse top speed of anything offered here is about 10mbps.....
charter offers 100mbps cable here, so I'd still guess sprint is just buying data from Charter.
I haven't even noticed my sprint 4g lte data being metered in my plan.
-
4G LTE has been out here for 2 days...phone only registers 3G. Called Sprint. Indeed, an issue. 37091 and 38401 affected....Strange i'm sure the same backhaul doesn't serve both these cities.........
I'm convinced the 4G tower in 37091 is served by CHARTER CABLE. there is no other choice for anything in this town for that speed. Could they just be running a cable line into a modem in the switching house to serve sprint here?
-
I haven't seen a speed below 20mbps yet(4G LTE). I used about 2GB yesterday alone, mapping, navigation, music streaming and speedtests. never saw a slowdown. Columbia, Lewisburg, and Shelbyville are all full speed (at least 5 miles away from the tower...then the annoying 3G comes on).
Deal : Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 for $50 with cheap data plans

that's a crock.....tablets are for sale... its a national promotion.
"can't waste the stores supply". what does that mean?
Sprint in-stores salespeople seem more crooked day by day (I hope you're not a corporate store).. you'd be getting a call from Melanie at the office of the president if I visited your store.
