  1. I just did a fun test. On my EVO 4g LTE, I went through the engineering screen and turned it to LTE only. I was in a known LTE area. It went to 4g and the icon showed full bars. I drove to my workplace where there is no 4g and did speed tests the whole way. Steadily declined from 10 all the way to 2mbps down. Ping ended up in the 400ms range until it finally disconnected. The WHOLE TIME my phone showed full bars... Why??????

  2. I am worried about this as well. Not sure why o keep getting bumped to 3g and it won't go back unless I "force" it. I am willing to contact them, although vanilla technical support wouldn't seem to help any. Better contact???

  3. My airrave has superior signal output than my WiFi router... In the back bedroom, WiFi is in and out. Being able to use the aorrave for my data at night in bed and it be 100% without having to run cat5 and a new router to my bedroom is nice. Obviously I could benefit from the airrave having LTE in this situation.

  4. If I have time, I will run some LTE reselection tests while I am in KC tomorrow. By acquiring LTE but then driving away from the site once or twice and observing the signal metrics, I should be able to deduce the RSRP and/or RSRQ values at which the EVO LTE is configured to drop LTE and reselect EV-DO.

sounds awesome. if that's what my phone was doing earlier, it took about 10 seconds max to connect back to evdo. bar meter was showing 4 or 5 bars, didn't seem to change in relation to the data indicator.

This is probably a stupid question by your standards, but I was wondering.... If there is a nearby site that only has 3G, but a distant site that has been upgraded to LTE, does the phone take the weak LTE site or the strong EVDO site?

I just asked a similar question in a different thread, short answer is both. the EVO LTE will even connect to a 1x and evdo at the same time. The real question is what does the signal meter report?

  7. I just pulled my phone out of my pocket a block from the Alamo and my EVO LTE had full bars with a 4g icon. I immediately did a speed check and only got evdo speeds (just over a meg down and 200-300k up, screenshots to come). About 30 minutes later, the 4g icon went away... any ideas what I witnessed?
