  1. Thanks for the reply first and for most!

Also I apologize for not saying so earlier but yes I am out of contract (successfully got Sprint to end all my contracts (5 lines) when they changed their TOS a couple of months ago.

An update as far as the cellular situation goes. I am going to go to Verizon! I am sorry but I just can not and for that matter will not wait realistically 1-2 years for 4G in my area. By then Verizon will be half way through their LTE advanced network most likely. Which is really a shame as I have had pretty good customer service from Sprint through the years. Data caps are not a really big deal to me as the two lines I am going to take to Verizon will only use about 4gb/month hopefully.

I think the deal breaker for me was when I had a friend who just switched to Verizon come over the other day. We ran a speed test in my house, which is in a rural part of the area right outside of Lynchburg, and got 30 Mbps burst and it held at 23 Mbps. Those are speeds that even when Ntelos upgrades the towers here, they will most likely NEVER hit.

On a side note I am sorry to hear you are stuck in contract with them. Plus side of it is, you have a truely Bad@ss phone! Thanks again for the replies!

Yeah it's tough to wait, but when 4g does show up it's usually pretty good.  Out in the short pump area I was getting a consistent 20Mbps and it's the same in the tidewater area and up in Northern Va.  They just need to get theses deployments going here in Richmond.

  2. To be fair, the Chesapeake, Norfolk, Va Beach area has wonderful (in my experience) 4G coverage and speeds.  My parents live in the area, so every time I go down I make sure and map everywhere I go.  So far there are very few gaps in the 4G coverage.  And where there is no 4G , the 3G seems pretty good.  Plus I usually get a chance to compare to Verizon's network because most of my family and friends have it, and Sprint has always compared very well.  Shame they can't seem to get the Richmond area going.

  3. I was on a weekend trip to Williamsburg this weekend.  I managed to get LTE around the area of the Kmart on Route 60, but that was it!  3G service was AWFUL.  Not usuable whatsoever.  At the Premium Outlets on Route 60 near Route 199, service was so bad I couldn't even send texts.  I kept roaming switching between Verizon and nTelos.  Could not send a text on nTelos to save my life.  (Granted, there were tons of people at the outlets, but still.)

I really was disgusted with the state of things down that way.  On the other hand, I had LTE in all the little podunk places on Route 13 on the Eastern Shore of VA.  Go figure.

It's been this bad the whole summer.  Not sure why when supposedly there is LTE.

  4. A. Detroit is a nightmare. Some of the suburbs are gorgeous and Ann Arbor is to die for. But, Detroit, really??

    B. Windsor is part of the same metro area, albeit across the border. You'll definitely be able to use your native signal there with no issue whatsoever so long as you stay within a few miles of the border (Windsor is small so this shouldn't be a problem). Trust me, I know from personal experience re: this exact situation.

    C. Next time you go to Canada, do yourself a favor and just continue down the 401 to Toronto. It's only 4 more hours but SO worth the drive!!

Yes Toronto is so worth the drive!
