  1. 24015.  Does anyone have any info on this prl?

Edit:  Thanks to whomever it was that moved my post to this thread.  I did not know this thread even exsisted...  Also thanks for not getting rude about where it was originally posted, unlike a couple of people here on s4gru who seem to have no tolerance for any mistakes.

  2. I know that a lot of us Tech Nerds here are serving or have served our country and live in the central Texas area, so I thought this info might be of use to you.

But anyone and everyone who is in the area is welcome and encouraged to come show support for two American Heros and their families.

Bring your family and teach your kids that Duty, Honor, Country are still important.

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!! Are you near US-67 or I-35? (Midlothian to Austin) Grab your flag &/or a hand-written sign, to honor Chris & Chad. The processional will be ...leaving Midlothian, Texas at approximately 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, and will be traveling to Austin via US-67 S and I-35W S. Anyone living in communities along the US-67 S or I-35 S procession route; i.e., Alvarado, Hillsboro, Waco, Temple, Belton, Georgetown, Round Rock, Pflugerville and anywhere in between are encouraged to show their support.

Show their families they are loved! ... their lives were not in vain. Their story goes from pride & patriotism to a beyond-imagination tragic end. Let's give 'em the proper send off.

  3. This update fixed the issues Ive been having with the prox sensor and my voice mail.

Everything seems good so far but I havent had the oppurtunity to check my lte connection or wifi connection as of yet. Ill be looking into those later today.

  4. Just got Jelly Bean this morning. It broke my WIFI network. Settings say I'm connected, but all I get is voice mail - NO DATA! Anyone else having problems? Ideas or suggestions?

Ive had that issue ever since the last update. Its seems somewhat better after the jb update but still not as good as the original ics.

  5. My wife received an update to her EVO this morning. But it does not appear to be Jelly Bean. She emailed it to me below:

This is what I have on my Evo from the last update awhile back. The only difference is the PRL. Mine is 24006.

  6. It is just as I figured, no update for the EVO Lte 4g. Oh well, we will get it eventually, probably right after the Samsung Slll gets Licorice or whatever the next big update is going to be called.

To be honest I really wasnt expecting jellybean for the Evo this quickly anyways. It wouldve been a pleasant suprise, It will be here eventually, just got to be patient and wait it out.

  7. San Marcos is minutes away from one of the greatest BBQ towns in America: Lockhart, Texas.

I'm getting weepy thinking about Black's BBQ where I had the best smoked beef ribs of my life.

Texas BBQ and LTE, a match made in heaven.

Blacks BBQ is the best. Ive been eating there off and on since the early 70's. My dad, even longer. My kids have eaten there and Im hoping my grandkids will too.

  8. It appears Sprint is finally starting to hit their stride regarding NV deployment. Lots of threads popping up about LTE sightings in different cities. I think we will start to see those totals increasing rapidly for # of towers completed.

Dont count on it. Looks can be deceiving. I thought the same thing when LTE started popping up in San Antonio. But I have noticed that the SA deployment seems to have stagnated. Sprint appears to be trying to get other locations involved with LTE rather than finishing up what they have started here in SA. Im not saying they have done zero, but when you consider the number of towers that have been added since the SA market opened up, especially when you look at other markets. Well I would say that something is up.

Now they could be experiencing issues here that we dont know about, but it sure would be nice if they would give us better updates.

I know S4GRU is doing the best they can to give us info, but it really is Sprints responsibility to inform their customers and not a 3rd party.

Just my view of things at this time. Please dont take this as a rant, it really isnt. Im looking forward to Sprint finishing up NV. I think they have finally figured it out this time and will be successful with the new network.

On a positive note, where I am able to get LTE, it is amazing. :tu:

Patience is a virtue. Im working on this everyday :D

  9. Question. Are the towers that Roberts has listed in his LTE upgrades all of Sprint towers?

From what I remember reading on here, I think Sprint barely owns any towers. A lot of the towers around my neck of the woods are owned by American Tower and Sprint just leases from them.

Yeah, all the towers in my area are owned by Global Signal/Crown Castle. Sprint just leases space on the tower.

To answer the question that I think you are asking. Yes, that is all of Sprints towers. I believe there are a few not getting NV but most will be receiving the upgrades. As far as Sprint owning the the towers themselves, Most cell towers are owned by a company or companies that lease them to the cell companies.

  10. I am not sure if this has been posted but I just check for HTC software updates and got a HTC update for the ring tone assignment issue.

I got it earlier today. Seems to have fixed the issue.

  11. Why is there little to nothing out on the vast worldwide web about this popular glitch? I have had 3 HTC EVO 4Gs, 7 HTC EVO 3Ds, and 2 HTC EVO 4G LTE's. Only 1 (ONE) of the HTC EVO 3D's did NOT have this issue (it was a plum coloured later model EVO 3D).

    http://community.spr...tstart=0#428512

NOTE: This happens to me 50-100 times a day WITHOUT any after factory apps installed (I tested it).

Why is there no solution?? Or even a recognition of this issue that is more annoying than a few inches of screen space being gone because of no menu button! :(

This is a MAJOR time waster to wait 5-10 seconds for Sense to reload almost EVERY time you hit home.. even RIGHT after a factory reset or a brand new replacement phone.

Please help! (And don't say root; I don't).

    Thanks!

I have the Evolte also. I do experience this issue every so often. Its not something that happens all the time (at least so far). I have found that it occurs when the phone is hot. I work a lot in hot attics or in direct sunlight so my phone will sometimes get pretty warm, but that is the only time I seem to have this issue.

  12. I've read that too, but I'm not quite sure if that's really right. So far, every time I've checked, as long as the LTE signal is at or above -125dBm, it holds onto the signal. Even when the CDMA signal is stronger. The only trouble I seem to have is that it takes it a long time to recognize that there is a LTE signal. The only time I see it kick back and forth between LTE and 3G is on the fringe of an LTE signal, which is apparently where I live :(

At this point the only thing I can say is I guees we all need to be patient and wait to see what the OTA brings us. Im sure there are some members in here that are way more informed and knowlegeable than I am that could weigh in on this and probably give better information.

    AJ or Robert?

  13. You would think it would be 30 seconds, but I've let it sit in places I know have LTE coverage, and without forcing, it can take up to 25 minutes for it to connect if I have just come out of an area with solely 3G coverage. Once it drops the signal, it doesn't reconnect on it's own without forcing, or waiting a long time.

I think I have read on here that the signal threshold on the evolte and possibly the s3 are not properly set to allow the phone connect to the lte signal vs the cdma signal. In other words, from my understanding, the cdma signal is pretty much overpowering the lte so it connects to the cdma signal.

When Im in an area that is saturated with lte I have no issues connecting to the lte signal. If I go into a building and lose lte it will reconnect when I come back out. It does it without being toggled.

  14. After riding around on my bike, with my phone in a holder on my handle bars, that the issue with connecting to LTE isn't so much a threshold issue, as much as it is a scan time issue. I *think* when using 3G, the phone only scans for LTE once every 30 minutes. At least that was what a setting appeared to mean when I was digging through the data settings.

When I am in areas that I know have 4G coverage, if I don't touch any of the settings, it does connect, but it sometimes takes as long as 20 minutes. I can force it by toggling airplane mode, and then it will connected immediately. That is was leads me to believe it is the scan time that makes it look like it won't connect.

When it is connected, it stays connected until the signal drops to below -125dBm, which seems pretty reasonable. Perhaps it doesn't have as strong of an antenna as the GNex, but I can't really say since I don't have one of those. I managed to drive all the way along I-70 in Lawrence, KS to two blocks away from my home in Lenexa, KS (35 miles or so) without ever dropping the 4G signal, even though signal strength was down to -124dBm at times. Now of course, once I was near my house, I lost the signal completely, but that's a different story.

I could be mistaken, but I think you may be incorrectly assuming the purpose or at least the time interval of the scan.

It would seem quite pointless to scan for lte every 30 thirty minutes. If this is indeed scanning for an lte signal to connect to it would seem more likely to scan every 30 seconds. The reason I say this is that these are mobile phones and you can very quickly move in or out of lte coverage just by driving down the road or going in/out of buildings. Why would they make you wait 30 minutes to check to see if you had lte coverage to reconnect again?

Im just guessing at this myself.

    Anyone?

  15. San antonio has wimax 4G. Man you are lucky!! Here in Colorado Springs only slow 3G

I have no wimax in Universal city which is a suburb of San Antonio. I do have a lte tower that is live, approx 3/4 of a mile away, but i get no lte from it. I do get 3g and 1x if I stand in my yard it will not work in my house. If I go sit near the tower and on the opposite side of the tower from my house I will get lte but the signal is not that great most of the time. I honestly think that there is something wrong with this particular tower.
