  1. So it looks like the site closest to my house is PL23XC520, which is currently listed on the map as a 3G NV site. I could've sworn they were working on that tower before (I actually saw them), and it was at that same time I started getting LTE at home. Since then, though, I've seen no LTE. I'm just wondering if all the LTE equipment is already on the tower, and they're just waiting to turn it on, or if something else is going on. I was quite hopeful a few weeks ago, and now I'm losing hope :/.

Well someone must've heard me complaining. . .

These speeds are faster than my home WiFi, though ping is slightly slower as are upload speeds. In the below screenshot, the top 3 results are my home WiFi, the next 3 are on LTE, and the final 3 are when I was tethered to a WiMAX device.

I guess I'll stick with the home WiFi for now, but it's nice to have options :). Now I just have to wonder if it's on for good now?

  3. I'm going to be over on Oxford Valley Rd tomorrow across from the mall. I wonder if I can pick up some LTE signal. I'll be crossing that intersection going home.

UPDATE: My wife's EVO picked up LTE coming down Oxford Valley Road towards Business Rt. 1. At IHOP we downloaded the Speedtest app, and results are attached:

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Once LTE is active at my house and in Newtown, the two areas I'm in most frequently, I'll definitely be activating my device.

EDIT: Thought it might be interesting to compare the WiMAX speeds in/around the same area. This is what I'm getting in the parking lot of the Goodwill store on Rt. 1 (just down the street from IHOP):

My WiMAX speed is actually pretty good, but the LTE is still faster. Without full LTE coverage though, it's definitely worth it for me to keep my WiMAX device active.

  4. I traveled right through the Bensalem interchange of the PA Turnpike, which is very close to where someone picked up a 4G signal in the lot of Neshaminy Mall. I cycled through airplane mode serveral times with no success. On my drive home, I usually loop around the Street Rd / US 1 interchange and get on US 1 at Rockhill Drive which will take me right past the mall. I will see what comes up.

That's like right by my house. I'm checking my wife's device for 4G now (mine isn't active as I have a working WiMAX device). If LTE is live, it might be time to activate.

I'm also frequently in Newtown (18940), so once LTE is on over there, then I'll probably make the switch. Right now I get WiMAX home and there.

EDIT: Not getting LTE in my house here in 19053, near Horizon Blvd. I'll have to go on an excursion for it later.
