Just picked mine up today and noticing that my home wifi speeds are nowhere near the 50mbps that it should be. Anyone else experienced anything like this?
-
Gotcha. I'll have a look and study up.
Edit: Ok, got it. I'm on the SW side of LC by one of the towers. I can cover the area easily.
The closest live site to you right now is at common and east prien.

Tom Hebert site is finally fired up
That's awesome! I totally forgot to run down there after I left petsmart earlier...so thank you.

I went to Moss Bluff last night. Got 4G there and most of the way down 171 to I-10. Still haven't seen it yet at home. I'm over by the Best Buy. Isn't there a tower in that area? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4
Almost certain that's from the site behind comfort suites at I-10. I pick that site up in Westlake.

Was looking for the 3 digit ones as well.
If you still need them I can grab it on my way home this evening.

Don't get too excited.. I kind of remove the light purple areas from my view as it really isn't usable LTE unless you are standing outside holding your phone above your head.
LOL...that's funny you say that. The difference between standing in my front yard compared to the back will put you in those predicaments. I find myself contorting just a bit to try and alter the signal.

Then the fun part begins... all the low signals near a new site will take many passes to get them up as Sensorly averages the signal reports. Some of them were mapped low so many times that I swear I've probably passed like 20-30 times and the color hasn't budged much even when the signal is high. I end up just driving on another road nearby that isn't mapped so I can map some deep purple on the map to show the site is on.
For example:
Look at this one: http://www.sensorly.com/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint#q=30.42258,-91.15043
It was activated last week and I'm sure its been mapped at a higher signal many times recently but it will take a lot to get the areas previously mapped light purple to the correct color.
Wow! That's alot of purple...but yeah, I get what you're saying. I was thinking about the possibilities of it changing with whatever tweaking they do on the sites.

I went out and about this morning and did a little mapping. This is so exciting watching the network expand.

Unfortunately there's not much mapping left to be done until we get more sites fired up. Although...filling in the gaps is still kinda fun.

And that's almost the max you will see. The 5mhz of spectrum allows for about 37 megabit down.
Looking at the LTE signal numbers in the top left of the screen I can see it was taken very very close to the active site. LTE is very dependent on signal strength but usually even in the fringes that 2 or 3 megabit is better than the Evdo speeds.
I got that while sitting at the light (12th/Common). At my house I pull down 5-6mbs.

?
A site that has legacy equipment still on it...
-
Probably the wrong thread for this question, but I noticed it picking up an ehrpd signal while I was out earlier. Is that from one of the legacy sites?

You'll have to use it to decide how it is on "your" battery life. No issues on my end and I have it running all the time but that's only me.

So far it doesn't seem like it's effecting anything.

Now that we have LTE firing up in our area I picked up the app. How is it on the battery?

Shreveport and Monroe area is missing plus Lafayette only has one
Well at least Monroe has uncle Si.

And people always say Lake Charles is last to get things in the state.
Not far from the truth. Lol

Lake Charles is live! Still have a ways to go, but it's about damn time.

Might be what's killing mine.

I would uninstall it and see if it makes a difference.
I was pretty disappointed too. It was crazy fast compared to stock browser...but I'd rather have my battery last 30 hrs. vs. 7 to 10 hrs...
-
I can't say for sure, but I feel like that fix is killing my battery. I've had it for 2 or 3 days and have been struggling.

When did you install Chrome? I installed the latest version and it sucked the life right out of mine. I immediately uninstalled...back to normal. Just thought I'd pass that along.

Ok...so cat5 specs have changed quite a bit. Mind you, it's been since the early/mid 90's since I installed it. As for the fiber specs, that was accurate. Unless there's something I'm missing as far as type goes.
-
It has been awhile since I have messed with it, but I was thinking with multifiber it was 1gbs at around 2kilometers, and anything inside of 100m was pretty much limitless. Damn it digi...now I'm gonna have to google it.You are thinking of Cat5 cabling specs. The specification calls for a 100 meter distance between two devices. Fiber is a lot different. The distance varies due to the different hardware, cabling, etc.
Oh...and cat5 could only be ran around 400ft. (I think) max, and the data rate was still less than 50mbs...I think...
Ok...as soon as I break for lunch I'm googling. Now you have me SERIOUSLY second guessing my memory. Lol

On the docs I've seen and dug up around the net. The router in the cabinets typically have a fiber port capable of 1 gigabit. I'm sure that's pretty scalable as well. Since it's normal to run multiple pairs and if the provider could only do 1 gig fiber they could just light up another pair and bond them for 2 gigabit. Small problem to say the least...
If I remember correctly, depending on the length/distance of the cable, it is up to 1gbs...but...I think if the the distance is somewhere around 300ft. or less then it's pretty much infinite so long as you have the hardware to support it. Though I highly doubt the latter would be the case.

I'm wondering if it's the router that's provided by the cable company. If so, it looks like I may be buying a new modem & router sooner than I thought.
