  1. Could you please link to any instructions for a battery swap?

Just follow any instructions for a screen replacement. It's the exact same, you just don't have to go as far as they do for the screen

  2. I've had great luck with my HTC One M8 that I ordered when it was first released two years ago.

I've recently noticed a problem where the M8 shuts down like the battery is dead, even though the battery indicator is showing something like 20% charge remaining. This has happened a few times recently, and every time the indicated battery level is 20-25%.

So, either the battery indicator is way off, or the battery is shot and is dead even when there is 20% charge remaining.

If it's just that the battery indicator is off, is there a way to reset it or otherwise make it more accurately reflect the true battery charge level?

    Thank you!!

I had the same thing happen a couple months ago. I tried everything. Clearing battery stats in recovery, new rom, new kernel, everything. I eventually replaced the battery with one I got on eBay and the new one worked perfectly. It's the battery crapping out unfortunately

  3. Yeah, that's not exactly an uncommon thing I had a family member who had an M8 that I ended up having to replace the charging port on myself because I couldn't find anyone that would do it for any sort of reasonable amount. In the end it turned out not to be too bad of a process, the hardest part was making sure I was getting the part with the correct connections which ended up costing like $10 on Amazon.

Grrr. Charging port on my M8 has gone kaput and I can't find anybody to fix it including Sprint.

I had to replace my charging port and my brothers. It's a pretty easy process and pretty cheap. I got the replacement part on eBay for like $7. Just look on eBay or Amazon for "htc one m8 charging port" and you'll find what you need.

  4. Correct, they are not aggregated. The current deployment does not support CA on B25.

Sprint had been deploying a second B25 carrier all across the Missouri market over the last couple of weeks. It was first spotted in Illinois, then quickly spread across St. Louis into central Missouri and down to Springfield and Branson.

Why the second carrier then? Will it be aggregated in the future?

  5. This could be related to some second carrier issues cropping up in Chicagoland. Guys on the premiere section are talking about it.

My brother and dad and have been having data issues with HTC One M8s the last week or so. My dad was in town over the weekend, and I watched his phone struggle to get a usable signal while my G4 sat on B41 with no problems. Updating the profile and restarting it seemed to fix the issue for the remainder of his visit. I haven't heard if he has had any more problems since then.

I'll give that a go and see what happens. Hopefully it's that simple of a fix! ????

  6. Nope. This is happening on every B41 site, just Clear sites, or just Sprint sites? It may be a device issue. To be cliche... have you updated your profile since this issue started?

Well since I posted that it's been working on some sites, but not others. I also noticed that sometimes data stops working on band 41. It says I have connection but none of my apps can access the Internet. If I toggle airplane mode, it puts me onto a different band temporarily and everything works fine again until it moves me back to band 41. Again this doesn't happen on all towers, but only some. It could be a device issue; I'm running a htc one m8 with a Google Play Edition rom, but nobody else in that thread has reported this. But it seems strange to me that I don't have an issue on some sites, but I do on others. Maybe I'll flash back to a stock rom and see what happens

  7. Every time I'm in band 41 and I do a speedtest the upload part fails. I tried to see how fast carrier aggregated band 41 was and it reported an upload speed of 0.01mbps. It stayed at 0 for a while then went to 0.01. This happens any time on band 41. It works fine on any other band. Has anyone else noticed this?

  8. If my memory is correct, the film on the HTC M8 camera lens, was some sort of Anti-Glare UV film. And, yes, it tended to peal off.

The UV film started wearing off of the camera lens on my HTC M8, but luckily for me the area around the lens apture completely wore off, so my pictures came out fine.

Others, however, had to wind up removing the remainder of the UV film by using a toothbrush and toothpaste.

I had this issue too. My m8 was also a release day m8. My pictures became very over exposed and blurry, and for a while I couldn't figure out why. Then people started talking about that film and I used a credit card to scratch the rest of the film off. The camera has been fine ever since.

Except for a huge crack through the lens that showed up a couple months after purchase, but that doesn't show up in the pictures so I guess it's whatever.

  9. I was at Scottrade Friday night for the Imagine Dragons concert and it wasn't bad. We got there pretty early and it was super fast. But it started getting slower and slower as more people came but never got too bad. During the concert I was able to upload pictures to my snapchat story without a problem. And that was while basically everyone else was also uploading photos and videos to their story. I was on band 26 most of the time but in the beginning I was on band 25. 2 years ago I was at Peabody Opera House for a OneRepublic concert, and with less than half the crowd of Imagine Dragons, data was completely unusable. I'm pretty impressed with how much it has changed in those 2 years.

  10. Well my HTC M8 completely croaked on Friday. It was working just fine in the morning, but around lunchtime I went to the the kitchen in the office where I work, and when I got back to my desk, the phone was stone-cold dead. No screen and no LED lights.

I tried all of the known Reboot procedures, and nothing worked. So as a last ditch effort, I called HTC, and amazingly my phone is still under warranty.

So I have reactivated my old M7 and am shipping off my M8 the the HTC repair shop.

Hopefully the HTC repair shop can figure out what went wrong with the phone.

Did you try holding the power button, volume up, and volume down for 30 seconds? This happened to my M8 and I had to do that to get it working again. Apparently it recalibrates the battery

  11. Anybody have any charging port issues with the M8 yet? Seems like mine's works when it feels like it. Tried several different cables and the same thing happens.

Mine stopped working a couple months ago. Would only work when the cable was at a certain angle. I bought a replacement port on ebay for $15 and took my phone apart and put the new one in. The whole thing took about 15 minutes.

  12. Has anyone else seen a return of the issue where the radios stop working? The status bar indicates it's either connected to LTE or 3G, but nothing updates. Toggling airplane mode on/off or disabling data on/off doesn't work. The only thing that resolves it is to restart the phone.

It happened to my phone numerous times back in November, but for the past 3 or 4 weeks everything was good. Now it seems to be happening every 3 days or so.

I am unlocked, s-off, and installed a GPE port. So I'm even running a sense rom and I'm experiencing this issue every now and then too. So my guess is that it's firmware/radio related

  13. Does anyone know if Sprint will replace the camera lens glass on my m8 if I have insurance? I don't know how, but my lens looks like someone scratched it up with sandpaper. I can't even take decent pictures anymore. :/

Mine did this too, but it's actually just a coating that's getting scratched, not the glass itself. If you take a credit card or even you fingernail and scratch the heck out of the lens, you'll remove what's left of the coating and your pictures will look good again.

  14. Voice shouldn't be a problem because GSM 900 and CDMA 800 are supported on Sprint international devices. Did you use a China Mobile/China Unicom/China Telecom SIM card? Sprint International services doesn't mention LTE International roaming. I've read about people requesting a UICC unlock and then popping in a local SIM card. So I was wondering that if you use a local SIM with a Sprint tri-band device on a network shares one of Sprint's LTE bands (all of the Chinese carriers have deployed LTE Band 41), will it connect to LTE?

Read that post. It has a ton of useful information. It isn't about China, but it's still a good read for international roaming information.

  15. Anyone?

Also, anyone having trouble connecting to band 41? There definitely isn't a csfb issue here in Chicago. I've been connecting to these sites with my g2 and even occasionally my n5 for many months. This phone just won't grab the signal. It does connect occasionally, so I know the radio is probably ok.

As far as I know you can't enable or disable certain bands on this phone. I could be wrong, but I don't think you can.
