    LG G3

I have this same issue and all G3's in Michigan are having the issue except for Metro Detroit proper. I've not had LTE for almost 2 weeks now. I've had tickets open and no one has fixed the issue

I took the advice of a previous poster and went into a corporate Sprint store. He tried all kinds of things to fix my lack of LTE issue, to no avail. Then he put something into the computer on my account, except I forget what exact terminology he used. Something similar to a line test you'd have on a landline. The next day, my LTE was restored! So you might want to do into a store, if you haven't already.

Have you checked the data connection in settings, more, mobile networks, network mode?

Just tried that and it was on Global. Switched to LTE/CDMA and no change.

I would say by the lack of any other complaints, this is not a widespread issue. Have you tried updating your Profile and PRL again? If that doesn't do anything, you may need Sprint to refresh your account. You will have to call or go into a store for that.

Tried numerous times to update the Profile and PRL from different places to no avail. I'll stop into a Sprint store and hope I get a competent person to help me out.

    Thanks for the help!

Hi all, I have a reception problem that I hope someone can help with. I looked and haven't seen my issue reported anywhere else. Last Friday my G3 automatically received an update of some type (I think it was the profile). Ever since then I have zero LTE reception. I'll toggle airplane mode and it'll stay LTE for about 30 seconds then flip to 3G. This is happening everywhere, including at home where I have reliable LTE reception previously and also 1/4 mile from a known Sprint NV tower. I've restarted my phone numerous times and tried manually updating PRL and profile and still no improvement. Anyone else experiencing this?

  1. So for whatever reason, I haven't been able to keep the LTE signal to all these new updated towers in the northtowns. I know they're active because there are all kinds of Sensorly mapping around them. I just figured it was some weird thing going on with my Nexus 5 and it'll work itself out since I know it works elsewhere. So imagine my surprise last night when I had a very strong signal inside Target on the Blvd! Apparently whatever was holding me back before isn't holding me back anymore from that area. I was ecstatic that I can use LTE so close to home. The tower closest to me in "downtown Tonawanda" is 4G accepted, but not for me yet. Once that starts working, I'll be a happy camper. Thank you Sprint!!

Also, on my way in to work for the past week or so, I've noticed a backhoe digging a trench towards the tower in Riverside. Probably for backhaul? So it looks like they're moving their way into the city.

  2. Wow, thank you for that very detailed response! Much appreciated!  :tu:

I'm pretty sure the one is not co-located and one is. The non co-located one would fill in a gap so hopefully that gets the full upgrade treatment. But since there's no timetable I won't worry about it much. I'm just excited we're actually getting a lot of 4G deployments recently!

  3. Here's a question I have for the experts. I'd try a search but I'm not sure I could sift through the results to get the answer I'm looking for. AFAIK there are two Clearwire towers in the Buffalo area even though we never officially had WiMax. One is in Wheatfield and one is by ECMC on the east side. Will those eventually convert to NV towers or are they now useless for all intents and purposes?

  4. Well Niagara Falls had zero 4G and now has tons of it. I mapped a lot of it on sensorly.

Nice job! I see lots of purple up there now, and that's great to see.

Unfortunately for me, my phone wouldn't connect to any of the new towers near me in Tonawanda so I could map. I toggled airplane mode and LTE would show up for a split second then revert to 3G. So to test that I didn't have something wonky going on with my phone I drove out to the end of the 990 where I know I've connected before and I had no issues. So either these new towers are in some quasi-testing mode or they may be affected by the CSFB issue. But since the pins are yellow on the sponsor map I think that may not be the case.

  5. Soooo basically we live in an area with terrible cell service, if we are never getting the 800 spectrum I'm not sure I want to stay with sprint. I was banking on it to make signal strength not suck literally everywhere

Oh we'll be getting it... eventually. Read this post from a couple weeks ago. Should explain everything.

  6. So basically right now we are waiting for a lot of sites to have the back haul ran? But also with the 800 CDMA they should still be able to install it in buffalo and the surrounding suburbs correct? It would just be towns closer to the border like Niagara Falls but towns such as Lancaster, depew, Clarence, williamsville, etc. should be fine for an 800mhz launch correct? I don't think the signal would transfer all the way over the border. Of course I could be wrong.

I believe the ibez extends 100 km in from the border with Canada, so it pretty much covers all 8 counties of Western New York.

  7. Very nice update in the Niagara Falls area with the latest upgrade report. Of course the one closest to the Falls remains un-upgraded for now, which is the one that needs it most as reception is horribly bad in the park. But it's still a very positive sign! (Plus getting closer to my house ;) )

  8. Just got a text from Sprint saying over the course of the next month, the network upgrades will be largely completed in the area. That actually made me chuckle. I certainly didn't count, but from looking at the sponsor maps I'd say around half have had NV upgrades, with maybe half of those having LTE. I certainly haven't seen any work done on the towers in my regular travels (Ken-Ton, NT and Buffalo itself) so I find that text hard to believe.

  9. Mina, NY is "officially" a market that has launched? I've never even heard of that town. Certainly not of similar size to Dunkirk or Jamestown. Or even Olean which has had a bunch of LTE installed too. But, good for the southern tier at any rate!

I find it oddly peculiar that zero acceptances have been done in Niagara County.

  10. Wait were u using a upgraded tower or one not yet... btw does anyone know if the getzville towers r gmos or full build

Almost positive I was on a non-upgraded one in the vicinity of Maple & Sweet Home. I thought you were eluding to you having connection issues because you were on an old tower that hadn't been upgraded. Or am I wrong in that assumption?

  11. Yep and those are my towers go getzville! Loving it! Except I keep losing my 3g signal like crazy

Boy you weren't kidding! I was near North Campus and Boulevard Mall area this morning and my battery went from full charge to 50% in about 3 hours, and I wasn't even using my phone! Tried to run a speed test and it wouldn't even start. I wonder if they're working on that tower near there. Didn't think to take a drive over to see if there's activity since it's on a dead-end road.

  12. Finally had a chance to take a drive out to Clarence and Akron on Saturday to do a little Sensorly mapping. It seemed as though the one in Akron had a less powerful signal as I lost it when I got to the other side of the Akron Airport where I would have suspected I would have still had a decent signal. Then I forgot exactly where the one in Clarence was so I didn't have as good results over there.

And I see there were 8(!) new 3G upgrades in East Amherst/Getzville area at the end of last week. They've finally reached civilization! (No disrespect to the rural areas.)

  13. Did some mapping out by the airport and ran a few speed tests. I had minimum of 9.5 Mbps down/5 Mbps up. Then I continued my mapping to the other location and into downtown. I was surprised I didn't lose my 4G once I got downtown. I was about 3 1/2 miles away from that tower too and there was probably a dozen or so non-upgraded towers closer to me. It wasn't very usable from that distance as I ran a speed test and it was <500 kpbs down. Since I'm all new to this 4G stuff, will it hold onto that signal until I lose it even though there are closer 3G towers?

  14. Yep, two sites went accepted in the Buffalo market.  Locations will be posted in the sponsor area.  Be sure and map them on out on Sensorly as long as you don't have a Galaxy Nexus.

Just re-downloaded Sensorly. I'll be able to map out the airport location tomorrow. The other one I'm not so keen on since it's not in the bestest of neighborhoods.  :(

  15. :wiggle: GREAT info Robert, thanks! I know it's only 3G for now but knowing that work is underway makes me excited for 4G soon. I had a small taste of it in Disney World last week and was floored by how fast it was. My data connection at home has been wonky the past couple weeks where it has normally been rock solid, so hopefully this is a sign of something. Thanks again for the great work!
