  1. i dont see what is wrong with what "gman" said.. he's being a realist. i absolutely love coming to this site but i think this site has kind of been way too optimistic with sprints timeline. I appreciate with my words and my money this site's contribution to us sprint customers but there are still so much work to be done in south florida.

  2. I don't know the big deal about having LTE inside the home. Unless you're going to abuse LTE using tether and wifi your pc with your cellphone. I prefer to have LTE at work, or outside somewhere. LTE will eventually blanket and penetrate everything when they finally have 800mhz lte

its not about lte in the house.. its about building penetration. if i cant get lte where i live in a small house/building sandwiched between 2 lte towers, how am i gonna get lte at a mall, arena/stadium, where i work in a large building in downtown ft lauderdale. its definitely concerning.

  3. So i live right between 2 towers and still cannot get LTE in my house! I dont get it? If i go outside, I'll get 4G to come on but the speeds are kinda weak (maybe 4 mbps down). I was waiting for these 2 towers to come live and now that they are, this is really dissapointing. Is there still hope for me? Or is my neighborhood in a "dead zone". Theres one more tower a mile or so north of my house so i'll wait til that one goes live...

  4. I have no idea how to check your voice signal strength on an iPhone. However, it would be helpful to try to determine the issue. Although, I don't need LTE in my home. I need it where I go.

oh sorry i have an lg optimus g. forgot to change my device.

  5. For your 1x voice?

oh sorry maybe im looking in the wrong settings? its just so strange. i'm literally right between two towers which i thought would be a prime location, and theyre both live (according to your updated map and i even went by those spots and got great speeds) but as soon as i get near my house, it seemingly starts to switch back and forth from 4g to 3g and then when i get inside, its pretty much 3g all the time. grrr. i feared this would happen

  6. Those two sites aren't even a mile apart. If you cannot get a signal in between those two sites, then either one of them is offline or your house is made of something that blocks RF. What kind of 1x signal strength do you get in your home?

Robert via Nexus 7 with Tapatalk HD

my signal strength in my house right now is fluctuating between -100 and -107 dbm or 1 and 2 asu

  7. should i be concerned... i live halfway between towers MI13XC259 and MI03XC115, probably a half mile or so from each tower and both are live LTE sites and still i cannot get LTE in my house. :( Realy dissapointed. I've been waiting for those towers to go live and now they both are and i can drive around my neighborhood and get moderate speeds but still goes to 3G in my house. Checked multiple sprint phones too

  8. random question. does anyone know how sprint ranks among the top carriers in south florida as far as number of active sprint users. i was surprised to find out verizon is 4th. i assume att is 1st due to all the transient people going international a lot. and also does anyone know sprint's biggest markets?

  9. care to report where is your house/neighborhood? dont have to be specific if you are paranoid lol. Just an intersection.

emerald hills area of hollywood. Theres been LTE on Sheridan and southward towards Hollywood Blvd. and northward around Griffin to the airport but never in between. Today I finally got driving around my neighborhood. Around 8 mbps dl. But as usual, literally as soon as I entered a Winn Dixie and my house, the 4G was gone and back to 3G. Still haven't been able to connect to 4G inside a building. One step at a time

  10. That's crazy I drove that way last night and didn't pick up any LTE after exiting from 595 heading north on US-1. I basically had LTE from University Drive all the way East until I exited..

ya its awesome! i literally check everyday and to my surprise, my 4g speeds started to dwindle to like 4 or 5 mbps around the loop and to my surprise, they went back up to aroudn 25 mbps around marina mile/us1 and stayed strong all the way until the bridge where it abruptly went back to 3g. build out is starting to look nice for broward county on sensorly

  11. I can confirm new lte tower has been lit up in broward. i take the same route to work everyday and today i got lte on us-1 from the 595-exit (there was lte there but it would go back to 3g as soon as i headed north on us-1). today i had lte from the us-1 loop heading north all the way to 17th street causeway. It went back to 3G once i hit the bridge that goes over the intercoastal. Speeds were very impressive the whole drive. :)

  12. Based on the maps so far of the sites in the area, range was set for approximately 1 mile. So if you are going into a building at one mile, near the maximum extent, you would probably lose a signal indoors.

No matter which LTE carrier you use (VZW, ATT or Sprint), when you go indoors you lose between 8-12dBm in normal building types. Some building construction can even be worse, losing 15-20dBm. So, if you are in the last 10dBm of usable LTE signal, you will lose LTE when you go indoors. Even if you are on Verizon. I spent several days testing VZW and Sprint LTE side by side in Waco, Texas a few months ago.

In looking at the site map around the Hollywood sites, most of the adjacent sites are between 3/4 to 1-1/2 miles away. So when they all go live, you will have quite dense and overlapping coverage in the area. You will likely get LTE inside that building when all the sites are live. Because if you were 1 mile away from the live site, you likely would have been 1/4 to 1/2 mile (possibly less) from another nearby site that hasn't gone live yet.

thanks a lot! thats awesome to hear! so clearly, this isn't going to be wimax all over again for us sprint users. i'm just too impatient i guess :tu:

  13. Building penetration will be MUCH better than WiMax. Similar to that of Sprint's 3G. However, (all) LTE signals are more fragile than 3G, you need a stronger LTE signal to be able to use it than you do for 3G.

However, in your case, what you are experiencing is most likely due to the way cell sites are deployed in a city: densely with a severe downtilt creating very small footprints. Once more sites are upgraded in that area, you probably will stop having that problem. But keep in mind, that no carrier guaranties LTE coverage inside. The variability of building construction materials and the effect they have on cell signals makes it impossible for the signal to penetrate all building.

I appreciate your response! thanks for the info. I guess I'm just concerned because its not like I was in a basement or elevator or something like that, I was right off the Hlwd blvd (a mile at most from the tower) in a small Walgreens. I've seen strong LTE signals from Verizon and ATT in the middle of Aventura mall.. But I dont wana seem like I'm bashing Sprint cuz that is not my point as I'm a huge Sprint advocate. I just hope when the build out grows more, I'll have LTE coverage INSIDE places lol

  14. Concerned about building penetration... So I was on Hollywood Blvd by the two LTE towers and got strong signal (amazing speeds). Drove a few blocks, well within the range of one of the towers and had 3 bars (iphone 5) and had speeds around 10 mbps. I went into a Walgreens and signal reverted back to 3G. Tried airplane mode and back to data and still on 3G. As soon as I got outside, back to LTE with 8 mbps down. I'm really concerned building penetration is Wimax-esque. Whats the point of having these amazing speeds if we can only use them outside or by a tower. :( This has been my biggest concern with Sprint's LTE frequency.

  15. im really curious to know how building penetration is with Sprint's LTE. I've read in theory how its going to be, but im curiious to know if anyone has any real world testing cuz obviously Wimax was pretty bad. I would get 10 mbps at spots outside only to enter a building and literally the 4g signal would drop.

I was able to get amazing speeds inside the Hollywood Library (24+ mbps down), but when i checked the sponsored map sections (thanks Robert) i found out I was a couple of blocks from the LTE tower so I'm curious to know how strong/weak my signal would be if I were outside vs inside a mile or so away from a tower.

Anyone with LTE at their house that isn't too close to a tower?

  16.

I was about to end both of my contracts on my sprint account. Both wife and I got the iPhone 5 on launch day. I was so upset at the lack of sprint LTE in Miami. I figured the money I would make with 2 mint condition iPhone 5's would pay $350 fee to end each contract and enough to pay for new iPhone 5 at Verizon. 2 things stopped me ( couldn't find a iPhone 5 available for Verizon and didn't want to lose my unlimited data) One day reading on imore I found this website. The more I read here the more I was convinced to stay. LTE in Miami is pre launch stage and I've already experienced it in many areas of Miami. Wife and I are glad we stayed with sprint and look forward to having LTE available everywhere soon. Just be patient and wait it out. If we have already waited this long what's an extra 1-2 months. Good luck.

Ya I've been the biggest sprint advocate always telling friends and family to wait but I can't justify the wait anymore. I seriously can't even stream pandora or tunein radio. I'm just throwing away money with sprints horrendous 3G speeds. I live on this site lol but im thinking the transition to LTE will take longer than initially thought. I'm gonna try out tmobiles $30 prepaid plan (100 minutes, unlimited talk/text/web- Data speeds around 12 Mbps consistently). Ill be saving almost $80 per month
