No updates from users? I thought the new year was supposed to bring more active towers online
Around Christmas 2 sites in Canton, 1 in Plymouth, and a number around Downtown Detroit went live with LTE without much fan fare. It was nice getting good LTE Downtown for new years! Hope that is a bit of a ray of hope for you.

FYI, Site IDs are not allowed outside of the sponser area, you'll need to edit your post.
Sorry, in my haste in forgot to cut them out. Thanks who ever took it out.

Site [site ID redacted] in Redford is broadcasting 4g. I mapped on Sensorly.
Also, I saw a crew start working on 42.31124752651582, -83.48781622439463 in Canton, MI today. They were digging a trench from the telephone lines to the cabinets below the transition lines with the antennas.

drove by a site in Canton that it looks like work began on. it is on Canton Center road by the post office on the electrical transmission lines. They were digging a trench from the telephone lines to the equipment at the base of the tower.
Also, 4g dead spots in the Middlebelt I96 area by my work were not there today. Did the wind blow just right or did anyone notice anything new in the area?

Just mapped out Telegraph, Beach Daily, Inkster, 7 mile, and 6 mile in Redford.
Then 6 mile over in to Livonia. I think there is a new tower there. Mapped 6 mile, Levan, 5 mile, Merriman, and I96.
Then I took M14 out to Godferson and zig zag back roads to Canton. I had hits out there I did not have Sunday but could not locate the source. May be something in progress in the Plymouth Ann Arbor area?
Also, the Ridge Rd tower on the Canton Superior Township boarder seams stronger now.

The Ridge Rd site in Superior Township south west of Cherry Hill Village in Canton is live. I mapped it out some on Sensorly.

I think the Ridge Rd site south of Cherry Hill Village in Canton is up. Had a strong signal today there were it is normaly is not. I didn't get it on sensorly cause my battery got to low and it stopped.

Does anyone know what's going on with the google play store while on LTE? I can never get it to download apps or update. Other than that I can browse apps and use my data however I want.
I have not experience trouble with the Play store on LTE. Many others have reported it in post though.
I can tell you I have had oddities in it downloading as of late on 3g and wifi. In fact I just was downloading some updates. Two went fast. Two were very very very slow.

Got a decent signal in Inkster on Michigan Ave. for a bit. I drive though the area often and this is the first time I pick up something. So I would assume something new is around the area. I tried tracking it down on some of the mile roads to the south of it and didn't get anything.

Sensory is showing Farmington Hill by Halstead and Grand River now.
-
Could be from Southfield. The signals can go a bit of distance in the right conditions. Hopefully it is a new site.
Right after my post above I got 4g in Livonia on Middlebelt about 5 mile to 6 mile. I have not had a signal there before, even after Southfield went up. Have to try mapping out the Farmington area tomorrow.

Hey guys, pulling some LTE in Farmington Hills over on Halsted and Grand River, will post speed test later
so there is lte, cuz my brother said he picked up one bar on 8 mile and Merriman but it went away. is it just testing?

The tower on Newburg RD south of Cherry Hill at the railroad traks was being worked on when I drove by today.

4G just came on in Hamtramck!
I figured some place in Detroit was going up when i got 4g downtown this past weekend.
-
Went from Corktown to Campus Martious up to Midtown. I got a lit bit of 4g going around Campus Martious. Then on 96 by the Davison exit. I don't know any 4g sites in the city of Detroit. And, they seam less then idea locations to get a signal from in the suburbs. Not sure what to make of it. It is on sensorly.

Getting reports of LTE activity in dearborn, anyone in the area that can test it?
Just got back from the girlfriends in Dearborn. Mapped out some on Southfield, little MI AVE, and 94. And then more in Van Buren Township/Belleville on the way home.
Little frustrated everyplace I spend time it is right by but not there. Lol

North side of Van Buren Township/Belleville is showing up now.

I've been able to get LTE on my iPhone and iPad on the second floor of my house at 8 mile and novi road. It only works in one room, luckily that room is my office. Am I picking up the Plymouth tower?
Didn't get anything for about a mile around that area last night over there. Think you just have a clear line of sight there.

According to the Sensorly map, there is a big gap around Farmington HIlls/Southfield and then Detroit. I live around 696 at the Orchard Lake exit and work at the Ren Cen. Is there any sites I should keep an eye out? Keep me posted and I can take some pics.
Best site I have seen to find Sprint sites, https://network.sprint.com/search/48122/

From what I have seen so far, I would guess Plymouth.

In terms of signal strength during the day versus at night, solar radiation has a detrimental effect on other kinds of electromagnetic radiation. My understanding is that while the signal degradation is much more pronounced in different frequency bands (like how AM radio stations actually have to turn down their power output at night to stay within regulatory boundaries), the lack of solar radiation at night would allow a 1.9GHz signal to propagate an extra mile or two.
Perhaps on a boomer site with little downtilt. An urban/suburban site would be too low to the ground with its panels pointed toward the ground...so additional range would not be possible in those instances.

Thanks guys. I figured the sun played into it some. I just wasn't sure of what other factors did.

Got and mapped out 4g last night in Canton again. For the most part it was steady and picked up on it's own. However, it would occastionaly drop for no apparent reason neededing a airplane mode toggle or a few. I can't seam to find an active tower in Canton, unfortunately. I assume it is from Plymouth, especially since I got the signal locked in so far in to Livonia last night.
The Canton area doesn't seam to get a 4g signal in the day. So do they tend to turn the power up after awhile breaking in the tower? Does the amount of people and bandwith available determine strength. Or, could it be a new tower having test done on it late at night? Just curious if anyone had any ideas.

I drove around 23 and Gratiot today, Up I-94 until 26 mile and received a strong signal with 8mbs down. One cycle and my S3 picked it up.
I was using sensorly but it is only showing up as a dot on 26 mile and just west of Gratiot. Not sure what I did wrong. I am a first time user to sensorly.
It may not have uploaded the data right away, up dated in the server, or it may not be in the apps cache. There are settings in it that you might want to look at. The data ones are up load only when plugged in, only on wifi, and wake to report. They can help save your battery. But, could delay up loads. If you hit menu-> details it will show you how much there is to upload. There is also a button with a line and arrow pointing up at the top right. It will try to force an upload. Generaly in small chunks.
I think generally it will show up fairly fast. But, I think the app pulls from a cache on the phone and doesn't up date a lot. I find that once I know the data is up, if I zoom in a lot more than I normally do, it shows up. The zoom level I normally use takes a while to up date. Could try deleting the app cache. But, I just wait normally.
Hope that helps

I was out driving today. I didn't get any 4g in Canton. Plymouth was still showing and I mapped a bit more on the west side of it. Out in Ann Arbor I got 4g scattered about the South West side of town. Got a steady signal on Eisenhower and when North on State. The signal dropped around the arena. Nothing more. I went up to Liberty and over to Main and up to the freeway not finding anything. Sorry UofM students.

If Detroit is officially launched this is a joke! .89mbs to 1.5mbs a second most of the time on 4g. Sometimes I HAVE HAD 8-9mbs. Occasionally I have had 12-19. And, even once when they put up the first tower in Plymouth 28mbs. Other carriers are getting 30-40.
Plus they still have a lot of holes were towers need up grade. Any one been to a well established Sprint 4g area? Is this what Chicago or Atlanta are like? Please tell me that this isn't what we have been waiting for.
