  1. Well here's my update. I guess something went wrong with my device when the ota enabling CA pushed through. After trouble shooting and finding out it was my device not the network, Sprint was nice to send me a replacement free. Look at what this new bad boy pulled my best so far. I almost had a heart attack. Been enjoying CA for almost 2 months now! It's pretty wide spread from Hartford to Manchester ????

  2. No problems, but I'm home from my trip now. I was only in Connecticut for a day and had B41 for much of my time there.

    - Trip

Oh OK cool. I've had this phone since release and always had a stable connection to band 41. I don't see how my phone could just crap out on one band but work fine on the others. I'll see if I could get my hands on another tri band phone and see if the problem exist on it sometime soon.

  3. Can you update your profile to your current device? That can help in identifying problems. Thanks!

Yes and I have, both profile and prl. I even did a ##786# reset and almost had a non working phone because band 41 wouldn't push data to provision the device. Had to wait till I got to an area where 41 wasn't available to do the hands free activation successfully.

  4. B41 has been down here in Hartford for the past three weeks. It follows me throughout Hartford, Manchester and Windsor. This has been such a pain as band 41 seems to be the band with the highest priority and my phone always picks it up which leaves me with a gray LTE icon that won't push any data. Switching to CDMA was my only option for a stable data connection.

  5. Couldn't find any 41...none by Hartford Hospital, and none by Weston st north of Hartford

    :(

Anyone have any sites I could drive by and check?

Good luck! Haven't picked it up on a G2 and I live in Hartford. Also why does my EVO LTE pick up 800smr almost everywhere in CT while the One and G2 are constantly on 1xrtt? It's as if it was shut off from the 55/56 PRL because the 25/26's pick it up most places sitting next to each other. As a matter of fact I haven't seen 800 smr on my One for about a month so I'm actually shocked the EVO is connecting to it. I guess that's why Student had posted the pics on 800 after I said it seemed it got shut off. The S3 is on the 25*** PRL and at the time I was going by my One's signalcheck app and now I know the LTE is also connecting like a champ on the same PRL.
  6. The LTE 1900 coverage will get better as more sites get online and they optimize the signal a little more. But it will be much better to get a Triband device. Not just for the LTE 800, but Band 41 is being rolled out on WiMax sites in Connecticut. With a wide channel, it runs significantly faster. In CT, you definitely will want to go Triband soon.

What really amazes me is that I had full bars of WiMAX on my S2 at home and on my Note I have to turn off LTE if I want usable data. And what's even funnier is that my home had 4G LTE before my sisters home and my aunts but now they have it and a pretty strong signal at that. Maybe Sprint has my tower marked as last to be upgraded since my data usage is always 20+ gigs lol. As for upgrading I don't want to use my upgrade so I'll stick it out till the Note 4. Also i noticed that after like a week of 800smr, it seems like they shut it down. All my phones are back at 1xrtt! I was picking up 800smr all the way from the westend to the northend of Hartford. Sure was nice!
  7. It's LTE in general. LTE has a fragile airlink. It does on all carriers. It needs more signal to be effective. Sprint is currently deploying LTE 1900 on the same site density as their CDMA 1900. That will not work very well in places with spread out density. It works much better in places with a dense tower network. T-Mobile has the same problem with their LTE on AWS. And Verizon's LTE 750 doesn't travel as far as their CDMA 850 network. LTE just needs more signal to equal coverage of 3G EVDO. EVDO is a wonderful technology in that regard.

A great LTE network also has lower frequency spectrum to pair with PCS or AWS. Sprint is starting to deploy LTE on 800MHz too now. It is a relatively quick overlay style deployment, and they will be able to get it on most LTE 1900 sites by the end of 2014. It will travel much farther and penetrate much better. Just like Verizon's 750MHz LTE band. But you will need a Sprint Dualband/Triband device to be able to use it.

    Robert

Thank you for the clarification. I was under the impression evdo did better than LTE on that regard. So I shouldn't expect great LTE coverage like that of evdo on my Note 2 till I upgrade to a tri-band device basically. This makes me want to take my niece's G2 and stick her with this Note lol.. But no I'll just wait for the Note 4 like I have been for a while now.

  8. I too am extremely disappointed. I deliver packages throughout the metro area and I lose connection going in and out of most buildings I encounter. I thought it was my S4, so I bought a Nexus 5 and it is just as bad. I carry an S3 with WiMax and have absolutely no problems whatsoever. It doesn't do any good to complain because the standard line is "It's a work in progress", blah, blah, blah.

I am going to break my Sprint contract and move on. Maybe in 10 years they will have their act together. I know a lot of people are tired of the wait. What good is unlimited data when you can't use it? Seems like a farce to me.

An S3 or an S2? The S3 uses the same LTE as the S4. Band 25 (1900). Last Galaxy that did Wimax was the S2.

  9. Glad to hear. I see the Hulu problem posted occasionally. This must be a G2 bug with the app.

    Robert

Seems like it, I already contacted Hulu about it but they just sent me a bs troubleshooting response which I already pretty much did on my own. I have a question for you though. Why is LTE on the 1900 band so bad at penetrating through buildings but 3G does great on the same frequency? In my home area everywhere I go I get full bars of 3G but with LTE the coverage is always fuzzy. Even outside the most I see is 2-3 bars unless I'm right under a tower.

  10. Lol some of you are hilarious. Especially the guy with the crack comment.. Anyways Sprint rep said my G2's radios performance wasnt performing well. From the min I walked in and gave him my phone he noticed my signal was very sporadic. It would jump from no bars to four of LTE while the display G2 was steady at two bars. The new one so far looks like is handling LTE better and hasn't gave me a speed test below 2mbps like the old one would. My hulu still won't work tho, even with the better performance but at least YouTube now plays HD without buffering.

  11. Also of note, ive owned many many single band and tri band devices, in EVERY CASE, my triband phone was faster or the same. Also my G2 got signal (4g), where i wouldnt have it on the evo lte or htc one.

How do you do a battery pull on the G2??? Personally, i would like to see you do one. Im not 100% sure you had the G2 based off that, JMHO

Ok maybe I should've just said power it off for a few minutes not a battery pull. Same thing almost. You don't need to be sure as I know what devices i have on my account and in what I spend my cash on. Maybe this G2 is defective or the radio modem sucks but I know for a fact the LTE is not performing as well as my other devices. Speed test app shows it as so does Hulu (which does not play at all) and YouTube which skips constantly. Also out of both the links I posted one was about that csfb or whatever its called issue, the other one the user is specifically talking about his speeds as well and no one had an answer. Also another thing I noticed is standing in one spot I can get 1 bar of LTE facing one way and as soon as I start turning another direction it'll jump to 4 in the same spot so maybe it is a radio issue.. 10yrs with Sprint I think I should know when one of my phones is under performing with all the trouble shooting I've done throughout my years with them.

  12. This is not the case. I am not hearing issues where Triband phones are slower. Sometimes, Triband phones are faster and keep a signal much better. Especially the Nexus 5.

You cannot take just one off speed tests. Phones will often connect to different sites, different sectors of a site and even different carriers on the same sector. And then there is the CSFB issue that could allow a Uniband device connect to a closer site than a Triband. But this effect would only be temporary until the closer site gets CSFB. There are just a lot of variables. You really need to run a controlled test and fully understand how to read your engineering screens before you can conclude that.

And based on all of our observations to date, there is nothing different about the performance of Triband LTE phones that makes it slower. They are not. And when another band is deployed in your area and the initial Band 25 is clogged up, the Triband is going to be way, way faster than the Uniband LTE devices.

I'm just stating my experience with the phone. All my single band devices trash my G2. This includes a EVO LTE, One, GS3, and Note 2. I've been doing speed test back to back on all of them. The G2 always falls short compared to the other devices. A quick Google search gave me a few articles of ppl having LTE issues as well. Maybe it's just the G2 but I'm not the only one who's experiencing LTE issues.

  13. I do not pick it up with my S3 , I am actually disappointed in NV so far. My phone says LTE but my speeds say otherwise. Dropped calls and spotty reception. Maybe when I get a new phone I will see the difference. I was thinking of the LG G2.

Well before you make the jump, the G2 and probably every other tri band device have LTE speed issues. All my single band devices smoke it on download speeds. It'll sometimes have a burst of 5+mb but for the most part I get downloads of 0.60mb to 2mb while my Note and One keep a steady 5-10mbps consistently. It's weird, I have called sprint and they pretty much didn't do anything but had me do the battery pull and reprovision the phone. Nothing's change, I can use Netflix and YouTube but hulu will not play at all on that device whether HQ or LQ.

  14. Are they getting it on standard PRL? I have 2 other S3's on my account besides mine, and they dont get 800, I get it with the premiere sponsor PRL. If I do a PRL update and go to stock, I go back to 1900 voice.

My G2 and HTCone on my line connect to 800 and use the same 55017 PRL. Meanwhile the EVO LTE is using 25017 but also is connecting to 800smr like a champ. The S3 I have no idea as my mom has that line and it's not in my possession most of the time but since it uses the same prl as the EVO I'm assuming it's probably on 800 as well. It's just this dumb Note 2! I hate Sprint and Samsung just said screw them and have us prl2000 so they won't have to workout a fix..

  15. They must be out playing with those nice remote downtilt controls on towers. I am on 800 voice everywhere for the last week, and my 2 normal spots, I was noticing I was running signal -65 and -58 (give or take a few ticks). Today, in both those spots, without moving the phone, I saw the signals change drastically a few times, and a little while later change back in the other direction (went down to -45 up to -80 basically on both). Then, it leveled off at about -49 on the one originally -58 and -52 on the one that was -65.

So my guess is they are really fine tuning the 800 coverage. Pretty cool to see it happen like that. I cant believe how good the 800 voice is. I remember when I had Nextel in this area it was absolutely awesome. Its even better now on Sprint 800. Happy to see those old airwaves back in use.

Maybe this also explains why my head feels hot and I have a weird tingly headache?

Radiation is frying your brain!!! Lol.. But yes I agree, 800smr seems to be live everywhere I go. Too bad I can't get it while all my other lines do including the freaking EVO LTE!! :(
  16. Still broken on 4.3 and I don't think Sprint nor Samsung intend on fixing it. The Note 2 has been out for so long now, they could've been had a fix if they intended on fixing. 2000 prl was their lazy way of sweeping it under the rug..

  17. You have to enable it in settings. It is not just available.

For the messaging app or just the browser? I don't find a setting to enable on stock messaging app for the HTC One. All my Galaxy's play them by default on stock Message app. No need to hit play they just continuously loop like a gif should.
