Is it okay to bring this thread back on topic?
The latest speed tests as of 20 minutes ago, using the leaked galaxy nexus radio images from XDA (also on 4.1 Jelly Bean if that matters), speed test done here:
https://maps.google....4757,-95.382341
Did it indoors, right next to one of the only 4G towers around the heights/washington ave area.
The tests at the bottom are from my work... where we use sprint repeaters and have terrible 3G always.
I should note, more importantly is that my phone switched to 4G while in my pocket, I didn't have to do anything to get LTE. I was able to download a 150meg file in less than 30 seconds.

The PRL has nothing to do with 4G LTE. The reason it's connecting to LTE is because the CDMA radio is cycling from one state to another so with CDMA technically off it's trying to at least get some sort of connection. For example if you disconnect from WiFi your phone will try to connect to 3G or LTE.
I never said it had anything to do with LTE, but it is the only way to get the gnex to search for LTE only. I'm surrounded by non LTE towers so it always defaults back to 3G.

I don't think Houston is completely working right now, so I wouldn't worry about it. On my Galaxy Nexus if I update the PRL it will show 4G for about 10 seconds before dropping back to 3G, I don't think the phone can get data over 4G yet so it drops back to a connection that works.

Who needs 40meg download speeds when you have a 2GB limit?

Looks like a new tower came up in the Energy Corridor, I'm finally able to get LTE at my office which is close to HWY 6 @ I10. Best test is 5meg/3meg but with only 2 bars.
Edit: And just like that it's gone again, there must be a closer 3G tower with its blazing .01meg speeds taking over.
