Download SamFW FRP tool 3.1 or latest version from here.
Open SamFW FRP tool and connect your phone to the computer with a USB.
Using SamFW FRP tool, go to MTP tab and click on "Enable Secret Code for Verizon". See the picture below. Note it works on any US CSC even though it says "for Verizon".

    That part.

The codes do not work for me, I assume without going through these extra steps.

This is correct, the purpose of the Enable Secret Code portion is so that you can use the *#73# code. This code is the one that allows you to move back into the desired Service Menu.

Off-topic, but I just tried it on my S21FE (with updates after May disabled) and n25 is not available in the Selection tool, but is available via the dialer code.

Interesting. n41-SA was like that at one point on my phone (right before Samsung killed Band Selector App)

link for XDA working methods please.

Sorry, I was using my wife's tablet because I could sit with her while doing it. Here the link to the main instructions

This method not only unlocks n25 but all NR bands (including n258). Note that there are a few wrinkles for TMB: The biggest one is in if you are using an eSIM then you need to do Section C Step 6 before you do the other steps in Section C. The other is you need to follow the set of instructions to switch CSC from TMB to GCF in this post (ignore anything in that post about flashing firmware). It doesn't factory reset but is required to enable a few of the SA bands like n25-SA

As an aside, this method also gives users on other providers like AT&T access to the band selection menu.

EDIT: OK, super weird, doing this unlock process also means my phone can see Chinese GNSS satellites now.

Shentel had plenty of b25.  A 15X15 and a 10X10. Now with the Shentel CDMA & 3g gone, that 10X10 could be 15X15. So with the 10X10 that T-Mobile already had, we now have loads of spectrum for B25 or N25. We just need to get it aggregated with the N41.

I do wonder if the mess with cell sites on the East coast because of Ian might slow the upgrade progress due to pulling workers from upgrading to place them in Florida on a repair crew.

I can confirm TMo has n25-SA+n41-SA+n41-SA aggregation working. As an aside, I found a working method to activate all bands over on XDA.

  5. Wow, I hope this means it is coming to the S22Ultra soon! Then again, it seems like the S21 is the "chosen" handset when it comes to a lot of things. Whereas the S22 has actively had a number of bands removed from it.

  6. Dropped the wife off for her trip up to Vancouver, BC and decided to do some mapping.

First I mapped most of the strand mount cluster eNB 178686. I was able to map all locations except 5/15 due to it being farther away than I remembered. I picked up a number of spots for eNB 178685 as well which is close by. It is interesting to see how uniform the spread is in that area. For the most part, T-Mobile likes to install them at the corner of an intersection or round-about with mid-street mounts being more rare.

Then I went over to Issaquah to map out several of the missing and unpinned sites. Discovered that the Sprint conversion site by Costco headquarters had been renumbered now with 3xxxxx eNBs. Then drove up to Bellevue to map  some upgraded sites and map the NR bands. One site, eNB 84870, was very clearly upgraded with B41/N41 but I could not connect to either.

On another strange site, the B66 only site at Grass Lawn Park was upgraded to add B2. Strangely, B2 was added via a totally separate eNB 236113. Also strange was that they didn't add B12 to the site either, it is ONLY B2/B66 now.

4CC n260. This was tested on the AEWB panel facing the strip mall right at the corner of the parking lot, closest to the antenna. First parking lot in question! For some reason I was struggling to get much above 2.1gbps on my Samsung S22+ or S21, but my iPhone was doing far better. Field Test mode wouldn't show me anything useful.

Thanks, I will need to try it from the strip mall parking lot

Took the 550 over to Bellevue today before class to have a look, and was able to pull just over 3.7gbps! (Imgur link below).

No n258 unfortunately, which would have been fun to test. Hopefully it will go live on the Olive Tower site in Downtown Seattle soon. That site is currently waiting on fiber.

Tested on iPhone 14 Pro Max

Wow! Is that on n41 or n260? Also, I am guessing at your usual location (either the Apartments or the Strip Mall)? Lastly, is the strip mall parking lot this one or this one?

Congrats! Did you happen to notice if n258 was installed yet? Last time I visited the site there were workers up installing *something*, but I couldn't stay long enough to see what.

I wasn't able to look super close but I didn't see any additional antennas from a cursory glance. I will check back there at some point in the next week or two.

First permit I have seen so far of T-Mobile decommissioning one of their own sites after a Sprint Conversion (the install just south of the Kirkland 85th/405 interchange):

    https://permitsearch.mybuildingpermit.com/PermitDetails/PUB22-06523/Kirkland

Admittedly the tower to be decommissioned is a very short tower with only bands 2/12/66 while the Sprint Conversion site on top of the Avio Support/Goddard School building has both higher elevation and the full suite of bands That being said, in general, T-Mobile has kept damn near EVERYTHING around here (see Totem Lake)

On other permitting notes, plus a few others are getting updated as well. Bit by bit, the few stragglers are getting converted.

    • The 2/12/66 tower adjacent to the 405 by Kingsgate Park (eNB 84646) is getting upgraded: Permit Link
    • Same with the 12/66 tower adjacent to the 405 down by Rose Hill (eNB 84787): Permit Link
    • As is the stealth monopole on Market St. (eNB 82969): Permit Link

S22+, but I got the same speeds on my backup S21. Tested in the parking lot of the little strip mall for the best mmWave speeds. I found the best n41 speeds on the sector facing the Borgata apartments (around 1400mbps). I was surprised to see such good speeds, as I paid it a visit on Sunday while the city was busy after Seafair.

Finally broke 1gig! We stopped by the Ramen place and I locked my phone to LTE+n261 and got 1.1Gbps. This is despite me being deprioritized (over 50Gb this month) and it being CRAZY crowded today. The park is jam packed.

For some reason lately, text receipts are intermittently being delayed (I'm on an unlocked S22+) for me lately, I had a slew suddenly come through from about 3 different sources from yesterday that were all delivered about 8:40am suddenly this morning as the latest example.....or otherwise if my wife says she sent something and I have a heads up, if I reboot my phone, suddenly whatever was 'pending' I suppose being the best way to describe it, will come through then.   Sending out texts I'm having no issues, they always show full communication fairly immediately, but the wife sometimes says she hasn't gotten something I've texted her either.

Also this is on a full TMo physical SIM and I'm in prior Shentel area in central PA/Harrisburg area for contextual info along those lines.

This is a known issue with S22 phones and one of the recent updates.

Seeing reports that the iPhone 14 is much faster on 5G than the iPhone 13.  But the upgrade is the same modem wise as the S21 > S22.  Does the iPhone 14 use CA more than the S22 does?

I have read several anecdotal reports that there is some sort of issue with the S22 and the modem. People have mentioned that they get notably and consistently faster speeds on eSIM compared to physical SIM. I know on my phone I have never been able to break 1.0Gbps yet, whereas others HAVE been able to on the same site. I am considering trying switching to eSIM and see if what has been reported is true.

I'm not sure whether its the fact I'm on the Samsung Beta (stupid move on my part) or it's a network issue but sometimes my phone just won't connect to the network without a couple of restarts.

Samsung just responded to my error report and stated this would be fixed in the third beta. So clearly, this is a beta issue.

  14. Roaming in Viet Nam has been interesting to say the least. I'm not sure whether its the fact I'm on the Samsung Beta (stupid move on my part) or it's a network issue but sometimes my phone just won't connect to the network without a couple of restarts. As a result, it will sometimes hop between carriers after a restart. So far, I've roamed on three of the four carriers (% of time on each): Viettel (70%), VinaPhone (25%), and MobiPhone(5%). LTE coverage has been nearly ubiquitous, even in rural areas. I literally only legitamtely lost LTE coverage once and that was in the middle of the mountains in the highlands near Da Lat where it dropped down to 3G. I haven't done a speed test yet to conserve data but one nice thing is my data counter reset in the middle of this trip, so I've had more than enough data to cover my needs.
