  1. Hello, Probably a stupid question but I'll ask anyway: The HPUE technology that Sprint will be adding to band 41 appears to be a great way to increase signal penetration and distance. My question: Can these same techniques/methods also be applied to the other Sprint bands, 25 and 26, to help increase the signal penetration and distance of those bands? Thanks for the explanation!
  2. Hi, Perhaps this is a FAQ and I'm just not finding the answer. I purchased a used Nexus 5X for my son to use on Sprint. What app should he use for voice mail? I don't think he can find the same app my HTC One M8 had pre-installed. He can call into voice mail, but there isn't an app that appears to be pre-loaded (or available from Sprint on the Play store) so I'm wondering what others use, if any. Thank you!!!
  3. Did replacing the battery fix the problem? I just want to make sure it's actually the battery and not something else before deciding to replace the battery.
  4. Could you please link to any instructions for a battery swap?
  5. Really? Didn't know that. I might look into that.
  6. Wow, really? Batteries are only good for (barely) two years? I believe you, but I'm just surprised that they puke that fast. I thought these Lithium ion batteries were supposed to have longer life.
  7. I've had great luck with my HTC One M8 that I ordered when it was first released two years ago. I've recently noticed a problem where the M8 shuts down like the battery is dead, even though the battery indicator is showing something like 20% charge remaining. This has happened a few times recently, and every time the indicated battery level is 20-25%. So, either the battery indicator is way off, or the battery is shot and is dead even when there is 20% charge remaining. If it's just that the battery indicator is off, is there a way to reset it or otherwise make it more accurately reflect the true battery charge level? Thank you!!
  8. How has it been debunked? (I'm asking because I don't know)
  9. Where is the mobile hotspot app on the M8? I can't seem to find it. I don't have wifi hotspot added to my account, but I'm wondering how I would add it if I decided I wanted it.
  10. MMS on Hangouts still doesn't work when on Wi-Fi calling. I enabled Wi-Fi calling and had my buddy send first an MMS picture followed by a regular text message. The text message showed up immediately, but the MMS picture didn't arrive. After I turned off Wi-Fi calling the MMS picture arrived almost immediately. Looks like MMS on Hangouts and Wi-Fi calling will be forever broken on the M8.
  11. Anybody know if receiving MMS messages using Hangouts on Wi-Fi calling is now fixed? I'll try it tonight after I install the already-downloaded update and report back. Just wondering if anybody else has tried.
  12. Does this suggest that HTC has done everything they need to do to bring Lollipop to the M8, and that it's up to Sprint to do their tweaks and testing before starting the rollout?
  13. I've been running ART since the second day I owned my M8, and I ordered it on launch day. I haven't had problems with apps, at least that I know of. At the time, since my M8 was brand new I figured I didn't have anything to lose with enabling ART. However, if you prefer to live on the safer side, maybe just wait for the Lollipop upgrade when the newer, better ART is the official runtime.
  14. Regarding the size: I like that it would be a shade shorter and narrower, but why is it also a bit thicker? As thin as my M8 is, it seems kinda porky next to the newest iPhones.
  15. I use Hangouts too, and I can't send or receive MMS with Wi-Fi calling enabled. Must be a Hangouts thing as it seems it works for others who use the stock messaging app.

    LG G3

Ah, good idea, thanks. I tossed it on my Drive account and made it public. Emailed the link, and boom, installed. Thank you!!

    LG G3

Hi, I need to sideload an app through ADB/Android Studio on my boss' LG G3. In Settings --> Security, I enabled "allow installation from untrusted devices" and I enabled the Developer Options. Then, in Developer Options, I enabled "USB Debugging." However, when I connect the G3 to my Mac via USB, I never get the little box that prints the RSA key and asks whether to allow access from the computer. The G3 recognizes the connection, because it goes into MTP mode, but it never asks to authorize the computer. As such, I can run "adb devices" from the command line and it doesn't list the G3 as being connected. Also, running an app from Android Studio doesn't list the G3 as a connected device. I haven't had this problem with other devices, including my personal HTC One M8. Any idea why the G3 isn't showing up as a connected device once USB Debugging has been enabled? I'm at my wits' end and can't figure out how to install our app on my boss' G3. NOTE: The G3 is on Verizon, so I don't know if that has something to do with it. I'm a regular reader here at S4GRU so I'm hoping somebody can help me out. Thank you!!!
  18. SMS works on my M8 with Wi-Fi Calling, but I can't send or receive MMS on it when connected to Wi-Fi Calling. A lot of other folks seem to have the same issue, so it seems to be systemic rather than device-dependent. Has anybody discussed the issue with Sprint technical support? I intend to do so but haven't gotten around to it, and I won't bother if somebody else has. I was only connected to Wi-Fi Calling for a few days before I turned it off, but it seemed like my M8 used less battery when it was connected to Wi-Fi Calling. I'm surprised others have experienced the opposite, but admittedly I have a small sample size.
  19. So after some magic code MMS starting working for you over wifi calling? Do you use Hangouts or some other SMS/MMS client?
  20. Seems like a few people have complained about MMS issues when using wifi calling. For those of you who are having those problems, can you confirm the SMS/MMS app you use? I use Hangouts and that's where I'm seeing the issue. Just trying to track down if it's a Hangouts issue or a Sprint issue.
  21. You can send and receive MMS via Wi-Fi Calling? Just wondering if it's a nationwide or otherwise localized issue. Wondering if/how I should tell Sprint about it.
  22. OK, Wi-Fi Calling is now enabled. The CSR was changing stuff on my account and maybe it took a couple of hours to work through the system. That makes sense, as the web site says as much when changing Wi-Fi stuff. Regarding MMS. My buddy sent an MMS to me but I didn't even get a notification that there was something to download. Just nothing at all, like it was never sent. I also sent an MMS but I don't think it's working as it still says "Sending" under the picture I sent (I use Hangouts as the SMS/MMS client). Is the MMS problem a known bug, or is that how it's supposed to work? I'll probably disable Wi-Fi calling if MMS doesn't work. What a shame.
  23. Has anybody had trouble actually enabling wifi calling? I received the firmware update and installed it, then went into settings to enable wifi calling. Went through the steps but afterwords I had an "authentication error" in the notification bar. Kept trying to enable, same result. That was a few days ago. I logged into my account online and tried to remove the "block" on my phone (I'm the only member of a Framily plan) but it wouldn't let me, even though it mentions Wi-Fi Calling as a feature of my plan elsewhere on the site. So today I contacted Sprint via the Chat Now on the web site. The CSR was very helpful, and we tried a bunch of things, but nothing worked. She directed me to the Wi-Fi Calling app (I didn't notice it was there) and it always prompts me to enable wifi calling, and when I do it does some stuff then restarts, but wifi calling is still disabled. So she recommended that I contact another number for advanced technical support and she made notes in the file to help. Has anybody else experienced problems like this? I'm guessing it's something on the Sprint side and not my device. Any thoughts?
  24. Does the M8 support screen mirroring? I want to demo some of the mobile apps my group has been working on to upper management. We have a conference room that has a big-screen TV with an HDMI input that we can use. Can anybody recommend the correct dongle I should use to connect my M8 to the HDMI input on the TV so I can do screen mirroring? Note that I want to mirror whatever is on the M8's screen so we can demonstrate the custom apps we are building, if that makes any difference. Thank you!!
