  1. Another issue that I've noticed, is that when I'm on Wifi calling I am unable to send text messages... This doesn't make any sense to me.  Per SCP, it looks like I'm connected to 1x and wifi, but when I try to send a text message it simply states "Not sent. Tap to try again."  When I tap this, it simply 'refreshes' and says the same thing.  Anyone else have the same issue?  I wonder if this is somehow MB related?  I do have a MagicBox at home.  With it being connected to 1x though, I wouldn't think I would be attached to the MB.

EDIT: The confusion continues... I think Wifi Calling is like oddly NOT being enabled or something?  I just turned on airplane mode, made a phone call.  Very clearly noticed wifi-calling everywhere and then sent a text message.  Went right thru...  Something is weird.

ive been dealing with this for the last month or so and it has driven me mad.  This all stopped working around Nov 1st.  I had google handling my voicemail for years.  Ive had it set up on the Essential phone for the last year and Nov 1st it stopped working.  I noticed the same about the wifi calling thing.  I really do not understand why it broke all of a sudden.  I *think* call forwarding is working because a google error comes up about unable to complete your call.

If I had to guess, some one deep in the bowels of sprint made a config change on something and has no idea what he broke.

I begrudgingly went back to the sprint voicemail service but that also has problems that I have been unable to figure out.  It seems like if i am roaming the caller does not get sent to voicemail, they get sent to dead air or a call cannot be completed message however i get notification of a voicemail and all i get is the dead air.

Naturally, the sprint visual voicemail app is not available for the essential phone in the play store.

Blah, very annoying indeed. I'm glad to hear that more people are having the same issue. I've noticed with wifi calling enabled at least I get phone calls while roaming. Thankfully, most of the places that have terrible service for me have great Wi-Fi service, just by chance. I wonder if roaming calls in are just plain broken then on Pixel 3 XL. Oddly enough, they call out just fine. No issue at all. They even sound great when connected...

  3. So, two issues I've noticed.

First, wifi calling enabled with Google Voice for voicemail doesn't work. More specifically it looks like the conditional forwarding doesn't work... When people call they either go nowhere or to the voicemail from Sprint.

Secondly, with wifi calling I seem to be having intermittent sms issues while on a phone call. More often than not it says text failed and refuses to send until I hang up the phone call.

Anyone else having these issues? I'm thinking I'm going to have to switch to Sprint VVM and keep Wi-Fi calling enabled... Blech.

    Thanks

  4. Getting mine replaced as well battery shutdown issue in mine! I am using my iPhone as my main but nice to have a good backup device

Pixel XL 128 GB Very Silver

I'm assuming you all purchased directly from Google?  I bought mine back in the day from Amazon and Huawei is being obnoxious about warranty / any information.

  5. I'm going overseas (Russia), I have two options.

Option 1) Use Sprint open world (not available anymore, I'm grandfathered in) = 3 cents per MB at 3G speeds which is $30/GB.

    OR

Option 2) The current Sprint global roaming = free unlimited 2G speed but can purchase speed pass at up to 4G speeds. $25 for a week but limited to 100mb a day.

I will be there for a month, I'm kind of torn on this, All opinions would be helpful.

Option 3.  Use an unlocked phone and buy a sim while you are over there.  Do you have a phone other than the iPhone 6S?

  6. No there is a guy on eBay that unlocks it remotely for you.

You guys watched him do it remotely, right?  What does he do?  It cannot be that hard of a process?  Is he just flashing the 'U' software?

  7. Ordered mine thru the Elevate link so early shipping. Would prefer to have the black one but since my 10 and A9 are both bricked and my M8 is wore out I decided not to wait.

    Both bricked?  Oof.

  8. Has anyone else been experiencing issues with Google Now feeds blanking out until you reboot? It's been happening to me periodically even before the latest update so I don't think it's related to that.

I just had this happen to me yesterday and after I cleared Google Now and Google data / cache it worked.  My cache had built up to almost 200MB, so I'm wondering if was related.  I am on the latest May update though as well.  Nexus 6P for me...

  9. I have a question regarding the Sprint Galaxy S8. I have my roaming settings all turned on and all my roam alerts turned off. However, when I "Update Profile" on my phone, all those changes I made reset to the default. Do you guys know why or how I can fix this?

That always happens, just the way it is.

To clarify, when you "update profile" you are doing exactly that, resetting your settings to default.  May I ask why you are changing the settings and then doing an update profile?  You shouldn't have to manually update profile, really ever unless you are having device / tower issues...  There is no workaround.

  10. We'll see how it goes, but the 6P did not support the QC standard of rapid charging. I'm betting the Samsung phones will still work to charge fast. The adapters are mainly just to bridge through the 40 other micro USB devices we have. That'll be that way for a long time.

I'm prepared to update my car plugs and wall warts if necessary.

i didn't know that.  That would be interesting, curious to find out if that is in fact true.  Rapid charging thru type C is just so fast comparatively. Thanks for the information.

  11. Just pre-ordered my S8+ (silver) and the S8 (orchid grey) for the wifey!

Expensive phones but eff it. My Note5 is still rock solid, but time to move on.  Get in on that Galaxy for life too this way and put my wife and I on the same update cycle finally.....like sorority sisters.

Picked up some USB-C items from Amazon today.  Maybe the OP can keep track of some of these things??  Might be too much overhead.  I'd like to hear what others are getting.  Since all my fast wireless chargers will already work, I really just need a few items for the car and some micro to USB-C adapters.

Remember only buy stuff that's been approved by Benson Leung, the Google Engineer that tests tons of USB-C items. You can search him on Amazon. USB-C crappy products can fry your phone and start fires.

From what I understand, the phones are only Quick Charge 2.0 compliant officially. They may pick up QC 4.0 compliance at some point as the chip supports it, but for now QC2.0 is the safe bet.

    Picked up these:

    micro-female to male USB-C

    3x of these (6 total): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AHKYIRS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    USB-3.0 to USB-C

    1x of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C2O1TOC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just my $.02, but when I went to the 6P, I abandoned all previous USB-3.0 battery sources as even with the Google provided adapter / cable the phone would NOT charge "rapidly".  I only have one cord now that I use for flashing / updates, but all other times I use a C to C.  Seems silly to use these adapters when you lose the ability to fast charge the battery.

  12. I'm interested in the fingerprint gestures

They work real slick. My wife has 5X (and no, Assistant was in the 7.1.2 update but a bunch of other stuff was. It was a big file!) so I got play with that.

Just updated last night and unless I'm blind or blatantly missing something, the 6p missed out on gestures...

  13. Just showing 3rd carrier on B41 in SCP with no root.  Others were asking if anyone with 6P had picked it up and the screen shot the had been provided was with a different app and with root to get all the good logging info.

Oh okay, for a minute I thought you were trying to show 3xCA which is NOT what that screenshot was showing.  Sorry for being so short in my request.

  14. Has anyone ever had a confirmed B41 2x CA connection on the 6P?  My coworkers Samsung is always on 2x CA from the site near our office, however, I can't find anything in the DATA screens that even indicates CA is enabled.  LTE Engineering is worthless on this device.  LTE Discovery is only showing a single EARFCN/Frequency range.  Speed tests are usually in the 20-30 Mbps range, which is more than usable, but they are very similar to the results I got on my Moto X Pure previously.

Have you tried Network Signal Guru?  That is what we use locally to confirm B41 2x CA.  Root provides you with the most information.
